NIGHTLIFE IN HANOI, VIETNAM (Night Market, Beer Corner, Hoan Kiem Lake) | LIVESTREAM VIETNAM #4
In my 4th Livestream tour in Vietnam, I show you what a typical weekend looks like in Hanoi. From Friday through Sunday, the Hoan Kiem lake area gets closed off to motorcycle and car traffic, allowing families to come out and have lots of fun in a safe environment.
You can also find the Hanoi Night Market as you venture into the Old Quarter. While walking around, you'll probably also stumble into the very popular Ta Hien beer corner where everyone sits on plastic stools, drinks beer, and munches on yummy food.
This looks like a chaotic festival to some people, but this is normal life 3 days a week in Hanoi.

We are Leon and Tash, a New Zealand vlogging couple who set off on an amazing Vietnam adventure as fulltime travellers, backpacking Vietnam.
But we weren't going to travel to Vietnam for one of those ordinary backpacking Vietnam trips you hear about everybody doing, where they go for a couple off weeks and check out the beaches or maybe riding through Vietnam at such a crazy pace that they never get off the beaten track. No we want more than that.
Our Vietnam adventures start with learning the way of the locals, taking just enough time to figure out how things work, discover what the Must see places in Vietnam are and more importantly where Vietnam's hidden gems are...
To do this, we moved to Danang Vietnam. The plan was to spend 3 months living in Da Nang, meeting and learning from locals about the culture, the amazing food, their way of living and what places they would recommend to travel in Vietnam.
And because Danang is in the middle of the country, we hoped we might meet other tourists or expats who were having their own Vietnam travel adventure or were at the halfway point of motorcycle riding through Vietnam and hear from them, what places they thought we must visit in Vietnam. Also, as new travel vloggers, having a base there meant we could try things like doing Da Nang Vietnam travel vlog or creating a Danang Vietnam travel guide, before also taking on the stresses of fulltime travel.
Then in month 4, that's when the real Vietnam adventure begins. With our new list of must see places, we will head to Saigon and buy a couple of motorbikes. to start our Vietnam road trip!
Motorcycle riding through Vietnam seems like one of the most hectic, crazy and chaotic things anyone could do, but we can't wait!! And we wont be following a simple South to North / Saigon to Hanoi route, we plan on doing more like a figure 8, so that our travel in Vietnam will cover both the inland and coastal areas of this amazing country.
So can we still say we are backpacking Vietnam? Or should we be telling people our travel in Vietnam is a motorcycle trip through Vietnam? We're not sure, but what we do know is, our Vietnam road trip is going to cover over 6000km's from Saigon right up to the famous waterfalls of Ban Gioc near Cao Bang, round the northern point of the Ha Giang loop and everything else we can access in between.

We stayed in Hanoi Old Quarter area and were there for 2 days only but with its lively streets the city has so much to offer during the day and night - 'Beer Corner' is a must-see!

I visited Hanoi again after my first trip back in 2013. In this video I want to introduce to you a local beer called beer hoi that is sold across Hanoi. It's fresh, it's cheap it's a fun and silly way to spend an afternoon or a night.
Also, it's a beer that is cheaper than water. If you've never been to Hanoi you'll be quit surprised to learn this fun cultural aspects of this city.

Cheapest Beer in the World - Bia Hoi Experience - Hanoi, Vietnam
The Cheapest beer in the World
Bia hoi is probably the cheapest beer in the world! And can be found in Hanoi, Vietnam.
It costs about 5,000 VND, That’s about 0.23 cents USD per cup. I’ve even found it during happy hour 2 for the price of 1. That’s only about 11 cents a cup.
So how does it taste?
My first thought was that I’ve had worse! And it’s drinkable. It definitely has a fresh taste that initially I didn’t care for. Almost like it had lawn clipping added during the final stage of the brewing process. By my third glass, I was really starting to grow fond of its unique, fresh taste. It’s a very light beer so it’s great for cooling off on a hot night.
Not only is bia hoi the cheapest beer in the world, but it is also the freshest!
Bia hoi is made in Hanoi every night and delivered early every morning. Full kegs of beer are strapped onto motorbikes and delivered to drinking establishments and empty kegs are picked up for the next day’s delivery.
It’s made without any preservatives, has no added carbonation, only natural, and the kegs aren’t pressurized so it must be drunk within 24 hours of production. This keeps the bia hoi drinking experience a local one. It’s the Beaujolais of beer.
It’s a very light beer.
No strong after taste.
Roughly 3% alcohol.

The narrow streets, the crazy number of bikes and motorcycles on the road, the authentic Vietnamese pho and spring rolls, the strong Vietnamese coffee, the vendors in bikes and Vietnamese hats. Vietnam is rich in culture and we enjoyed every bit of it. Vietnam surprised me and exceeded all my expectations.

Hanoi nightlife! It was my first night out in North Vietnam EVER! And it happened to be New Year’s Eve. Hanoi is a beautiful city. We ride around and capture some visual vibes, then hit Old Quarter (main area) for some night life action. Beers in Athens sidewalk, keg cups for fiddy cent (5000vnd), and the famous Ta Hien beer club and bar street that got dangerously overpacked on NYE ???? And yhe mainstage block area was so crowded we couldn’t even walk near to film it. Some insane party vibes tho!
