2013 Most Endangered Properties List - Washington State
Every year, many historic properties across the state of Washington are threatened by demolition or neglect. Collectively, these properties contribute to the quality of life we enjoy and shape the daily experiences of living in small towns, large cities and rural countryside across the state. It is an understatement to say that our historic resources help to paint a distinct Washington portrait, and it is certainly no overstatement to conclude that their loss would leave large gaps in that canvas.

Sailing the Adventuress from Gig Harbor to Olympia
Adventuress was built for John Borden at the Rice Brothers' yard in East Boothbay, Maine, and was designed by B.B. Crowninshield. Borden intended to sail to Alaska to catch a bowhead whale for the American Museum of Natural History in New York. Aboard this maiden voyage sailed the famed naturalist Roy Chapman Andrews. During the voyage, Chapman stopped on the Pribilof Islands and captured film of fur seals, which led to efforts to protect their colonies. Borden's efforts to catch a whale failed and he sold Adventuress to the San Francisco Bar Pilots Association, which marked the beginning of her career as a workboat. For 35 years, she transferred pilots to and from cargo vessels near the Farallon Islands. During World War II, she was a United States Coast Guard vessel, guarding San Francisco Bay.[5]
Adventuress' dinghy A-ya-she
Around 1952, Adventuress was brought to Seattle, where she went through several owners. Eventually, she wound up in the care of Monty Morton and Ernestine Bennett, who managed a non-profit sail training organization called Youth Adventures. Under their ownership, the boat was restored to most of her original lines, which had been altered during her years as a working vessel. In 1988, Sound Experience began conducting educational programs on the vessel, and the following year she was listed as a National Historic Landmark.

A Gig Harbor tour begins with the town's historic waterfront, where charming boutiques stretch along Harborview Drive. The expanse includes an impressive number of art galleries, many featuring work from local artists. Stop into shops like Sassy Bones, Elandan Gallery and Ebb Tide Cooperative Gallery. After a downtown shopping fix, head across the road to Skansie Brothers Park, a popular Gig Harbor attraction for its frequent fairs, outdoor concerts and art festivals. The park is home to the Fisherman Memorial, a bronze statue that honors the many anglers who've called Gig Harbor home, especially those who have been lost at sea. City Park at Crescent Creek, two miles north of Skansie, is another family-friendly Gig Harbor attraction, thanks to its sizable children's play area and baseball diamond. A large picnic shelter boasts wood stoves, so visitors can create a campground feel in cooler weather without venturing into the wilderness. List of Video Credits can be found here Central controllers and most terminal unit controllers are programmable, meaning the direct digital control program code may be customized for the intended use. The program features include time schedules, setpoints, controllers, logic, timers, trend logs, and alarms. The unit controllers typically have analog and digital inputs that allow measurement of the variable (temperature, humidity, or pressure) and analog and digital outputs for control of the transport medium (hot/cold water and/or steam). Digital inputs are typically (dry) contacts from a control device, and analog inputs are typically a voltage or current measurement from a variable (temperature, humidity, velocity, or pressure) sensing device. Digital outputs are typically relay contacts used to start and stop equipment, and analog outputs are typically voltage or current signals to control the movement of the medium (air/water/steam) control devices such as valves, dampers, and motors. Tacoma Narrows Bridge Collapse (1940)
Footage of the original Tacoma Narrows bridge wobbling and eventually, collapsing from the Stillman Fires Collection.
The 1940 Tacoma Narrows Bridge was the first incarnation of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge, a suspension bridge in the U.S. state of Washington that spanned the Tacoma Narrows strait of Puget Sound between Tacoma and the Kitsap Peninsula. It opened to traffic on July 1, 1940, and dramatically collapsed into Puget Sound on November 7 of the same year. At the time of its construction (and its destruction), the bridge was the third longest suspension bridge in the world in terms of main span length, behind the Golden Gate Bridge and the George Washington Bridge.

Cemetery caches & Jackson County Parks Trail of Death 2-17-2016
Seems this trail of death went through 4 states Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, and Kansas
The Potawatomi Trail of Death was the forced removal of 859 members of the Potawatomi nation from Indiana to reservation lands in what is now eastern Kansas in 1838. Under an armed escort of volunteer militia, the march began at Twin Lakes, Indiana, (Myers Lake and Cook Lake, near Plymouth, Indiana) on September 4, 1838, and ended on November 4, 1838, along the western bank of the Osage River, near present-day Osawatomie, Kansas. During the journey of approximately 660 miles (1,060 km) over 61 days, more than 40 persons died, most of them children. It marked the single largest Indian removal in Indiana history.

Bicycling to the end of Cooper Road; Olympia, Washington and finding a Mansion there.
What is this house doing here? This would be a great scenic spot to overlook the Puget Sound. I don't agree with allowing someone to build here and blocking off the view from the public. It's just like the rich who control the nice tall mountain in Longview, Washington. Some views should be a right for the public to behold rather than greedy rich people to control.

Driving Downtown - Tacoma 4K - USA
Driving Downtown - Tacoma Washington USA - Season 1 Episode 20.
Starting Point: Court St .
Tacoma is a mid-sized urban port city in and the county seat of Pierce County, Washington, United States.[6] The city is on Washington's Puget Sound, 32 miles (51 km) southwest of Seattle, 31 miles (50 km) northeast of the state capital, Olympia, and 58 miles (93 km) northwest of Mount Rainier National Park. The population was 198,397, according to the 2010 census.[7] Tacoma is the second-largest city in the Puget Sound area and the third largest in the state. Tacoma also serves as the center of business activity for the South Sound region, which has a population of around 1 million people.
Tacoma adopted its name after the nearby Mount Rainier, originally called Takhoma or Tahoma. It is locally known as the City of Destiny because the area was chosen to be the western terminus of the Northern Pacific Railroad in the late 19th century. The decision of the railroad was influenced by Tacoma's neighboring deep-water harbor, Commencement Bay. By connecting the bay with the railroad, Tacoma's motto became When rails meet sails. Today, Commencement Bay serves the Port of Tacoma, a center of international trade on the Pacific Coast and Washington State's largest port.
Like most central cities, Tacoma suffered a prolonged decline in the mid-20th century as a result of suburbanization and divestment. Since the 1990s, developments in the downtown core include the University of Washington Tacoma; Tacoma Link, the first modern electric light rail service in the state; the state's highest density of art and history museums; and a restored urban waterfront, the Thea Foss Waterway. Neighborhoods such as the 6th Avenue District have become revitalized.
Tacoma-Pierce County has been named one of the most livable areas in the United States.[8] In 2006, Tacoma was listed as one of the most walkable cities in the country.[9] That same year, the women's magazine Self named Tacoma the Most Sexually Healthy City in the United States.[10] In contrast, Tacoma was also ranked as the most stressed-out city in the country in a 2004 survey.[11]
Tacoma gained notoriety in 1940 for the collapse of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge, which earned the nickname Galloping Gertie.
