The train includes two Amfleet coaches, in a fleet move from Chicago to Washington. It is unknown to me if they are returning from work at Beech Grove or not, but I presume so.

CSX Train at Maryland Heights Tunnel (Harpers Ferry, WVA)
If you stand at the highest point of Harpers Ferry, WV and look straight ahead, you will see the rocky facade of Maryland Heights. To your left, you will note the Potomac River. It flows down to this spot from up around Cumberland, MD. To the right, is the Shenandoah River and the state of Virginia. This is the confluence of the two rivers and it's the Potomac that continues on down to Washington, D.C. and beyond.Under Maryland Heights is a train tunnel, which was built in 1931. It gets plenty of traffic from the freight trains of the CSX Line, along with AMTRAK passenger trains, and during the week, add the MARC Line. At the high point, above Harpers Ferry, once stood a popular restaurant and motel - Hilltop House Hotel. Sadly, it it no longer in business and its prospects of reopening, according to one of the locals, is dim! (Date: 04.19.14)

Here's some more of the Potomac River as the train rolled north towards Washington DC, there are many openings to grab some pictures and video in this section. just over all purdy, overcast or not.

Was lucky to catch the train going through the Natural Tunnel in VA. Wish it would have been going the other direction and emerging from the tunnel but oh well.

I asked several times, and there were no restrictions on photography or recording. So obviously we won't be seeing anything top secret. And of course we could only see limited areas of the ship.

Amtrak Cardinal 51. Engine #156. The passenger train had just left Hinton WV and is coming into Meadow Creek WV heading west down through the New River Gorge. Next stop is Prince WV. As the train passes you can see the east yard at Meadow Creek with a few coal cars in the yard. August 25, 2017 around 6:22 PM.
