Old-time mountain music, bluegrass, country, rock & roll and blues all have deep roots in Tennessee, and Nashville is the city where it’s all happening. From struggling street musicians to today’s hottest country music entertainers, the city has earned its title “Music City USA”. Inside the Country Music Hall of Fame, visitors can take in the music’s history, and see some important artifacts of the genre. The Grand Ole Opry is the longest running live radio show in the country – more than 80 years. It’s the definitive showcase of country entertainment. Another unique stop in Nashville – Hatch Show Prints – an original wood block printing house makes show posters for a variety of musicians, acts & entertainers. The tools & processes used are the same as in the 19th century, which creates a distinct look that’s an alternative to modern digital design. Making hats is big business in Winchester. There are several steps that go into creating high quality hat bodies used to make headwear for police, military forces and other customers. Chattanooga is revitalized with a new waterfront and the Tennessee Aquarium – the largest freshwater aquarium in the world. The incline railway takes visitors to the top of Lookout Mountain and Chattanooga National Military Park. There may not be too many old time carousels as pretty as the Dentzel carousel that graces Coolidge Park across the river from downtown. It was restored by Bud Ellis and his students at the Horsin’ Around Carousel Carving School. An authentic, steam powered paddle wheeler, the magnificent Mississippi Queen riverboat is a connection to the state’s rich river history. Fishing in the early morning at a bass tournament and a trip to the country’s only freshwater pearl farm are two stops in the Kentucky Lakes region. Holladay Bluegrass and Fiddlers Jamboree provides a look and listen to some of America’s finest music.

PLACES TO VISIT IN NASHVILLE WITH KIDS Country Music Hall of Fame is a great museum for anyone -- even if you are not a big country music fan. The museum is attached to the Omni Nashville Hotel, which is fairly large and has one of the only outdoor pools in Nashville. The hotel in in the central part of Nashville, making it easy to walk to different places. Hatch Show Print is a letterpress print shop that has been around for over a hundred years. You can watch the printing through big windows in the front and take workshops. You should check out the Ryman Auditorium, which is known as the Mother Church of Country Music, but more than just country musicians play there. Riverfront Park is a great place to visit if you have young kids that need to have some play time. The Parthenon is a cool place to visit and you need to take about a half hour out of your day. It is a full scale replica of the Greek Parthenon and on weekends there are a lot of festivals and food trucks there. This is also a great place to have a picnic with your family. The Grand Ole Opry is a fantastic piece of Nashville's history and a must do when in Nashville. If you really want to try Nashville Hot Chicken one of the most famous places would be Hattie B’s. This is a great family place and has the ability to order online and has two locations now. BEST PLACE TO TAKE FAMILY PHOTO Most photos are taken in front of ‘I believe in Nashville’ mural. 12th South has a few great colorful murals. If you want the skyline, taking a photo in front of the Bridge building has a great view looking over the river.
FAVORITE TRAVEL GEAR Kristin loves to wear sundresses from LOFT, Gap, and Old Navy.

Episode 2618.2 | The Hermitage | Tennessee Crossroads
Three American presidents called Tennessee home. The most flamboyant of them was, of course, Andrew Jackson. Old Hickory made his mark on the world, but he made his home in Nashville, TN, a home we can still visit. Join Nashville Public Television's Tennessee Crossroads to find out more.
Andrew Jackson's Hermitage
The very last attraction we got to experience was our seventh president, Andrew Jackson's, home in Nashville which he called The Hermitage.
The attraction costs $17/adult and, in our opinion, is definitely worth the money.
When we first arrived, we were given one set of headphones, a digital audio player, and a museum map complete with numbers at each point of interest that you could plug your headphones into the digital player and listen to interesting facts and stories on that specific part of the tour. We had never been on an audio tour before, and we firmly believe it enriched our experience at the Hermitage.
Overall, we loved visiting the Hermitage for the history of it (although the slave aspect of it was enough to make anyone dislike Jackson).
Country Music Hall Of Fame Tour
December 11th 2010 I joined Rick and Beth from 95.5 The Wolf at The Country Music Hall Of Fame. Wolf listeners were given a Private Tour of the museum and I was lucky enough to join them.
