Nearing the end of the calendar year, the Hawaii Surf Team puts on team tryouts to start making some selects for the upcoming team event at the ISA World Surfing Junior Championships. PBS Hawaii's Hiki No: APEC Volunteers
Alayna Kobayashi was a student reporter at the 2011 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), which was an event where leaders from 21 nations (including President Obama) gathered in Hawaii to discuss economic issues. Alayna was involved in writing the reporter's script and filming the interviews and B-roll for this story. This story was aired on PBS Hawaii's Insights program and PBS Hawaii's Hiki No Program. She was also interviewed for a Punavision story about her experience as an APEC reporter.
