Reta and Patty met Ken, Leta and me in Lewiston, Idaho to attend Violet Carey's service at the Eagles lodge in Lewiston. After the service we drove over to Hell's Gate State Park, which is a few miles south of town on the Snake River, so the girls could get their feet wet.

Yoly and I head south east from Richland, WA. to Lewiston, ID. and spend the night at Hell's Gate State Park. The park sits alongside the Snake River and accomodates fishing and boating with a nice launch ramp. Like most state parks with full hook ups, the cost is pretty high especially in Idaho and especially if you are a non-resident. The additional fees they tack on for out of state visitors is enough to keep me from spending anymore of my tourist dollars in the state. So long Idaho, it's been fun but I can't afford you.

Brownlee Dam Idaho Near Oxbow Dam. Dam's In American/United States!
Brownlee Dam is a hydroelectric earth fill embankment dam in the western United States, on the Snake River on the Idaho-Oregon border, In Hells Canyon at river mile 285, it impounds the Snake River in the 58-mile (93 km)-long Brownlee Reservoir.
It is part of the Hells Canyon Project that also includes Hells Canyon Dam and Oxbow Dam, built and operated by Idaho Power Company. The first and upper-most of the three dams, its contractor was Morrison-Knudsen of Boise. It started filling on May 9, 1958, 60 years ago, flooding the community of Robinette.
The dam's powerhouse contains five generating units with a total nameplate capacity of 585.4 megawatts.
Lacking passage for migrating salmon, the three Hells Canyon Project dams blocked access by anadromous salmonids to a stretch of the Snake River drainage basin from Hells Canyon Dam up to Shoshone Falls, which naturally prevents any upstream fish passage to the upper Snake River basin.

Along the Lewis and Clark trail at the edge!
There are towns called Lewiston and Clarkston, but here along the Idaho and Washington borders, you will find these towns seperated by the snake river and connected by bridges of time. Hells canyon waterways flow through here and over the borders to the Columbia River and then out to the Pacific Ocean. I am camped out here at a beautiful place called Hellsgate State Park. A really enjoyable place to visit. Both towns are interesting to see as well.
Road Trip to North Central Idaho - Moscow and Lewiston
I take a road trip through the North Idaho panhandle down to north central Idaho outside of Lewiston, ID. I go through the college town on the Palouse, Moscow, which is home to the University of Idaho. My destination is the Traditional Catholic Homestead where my friend Dave is raising American Milking Devon cows among other livestock.
