One of the first tourists in Hemsedal was the Norwegian polar explorer Fritjof Nansen, who visited in 1898 and stayed at the Bjøberg Fjellstue. Today Hemsedal is a popular destination, with Hemsedal Skisenter the main attraction. About 70% of all visitors come in the winter season (December–May) and most of the remaining 30% in the summer months.[13]
Hemsedal Skisenter is the second largest ski resort in Norway. The ski centres in Hemsedal and Grøndalen were bought in 2000 by the Swedish company Sälenstjärnen, which changed its name the following year to Skistar. Skistar also owns Trysil Ski Centre, Sälen and Åre, Vemedalen and Hammarbybacken in Sweden.[16]
Øvre Løkji is a museum farm from which there are several trails up into the mountains. Hemsedal's cross-country stadium is located at Gravset and is the starting point for a large network of trails to Lykkja and Gol, including 10 km (6.21 mi) of lighted trails.[16]

Lovely big Hemsedal ski chalet in Norway at Hemsedal Ski Resort. Solid log house for 18 people with 7 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms, sauna, whirlpool, wood burning stove, 2 fireplaces + movie room with 60 inch flat screen TV.
The bedrooms are divided as follows:
Bedroom 1: 2 bunk beds
Bedroom 2 + 3: 4 single beds
Bedroom 4-7: Double beds

From the house and its 100 sqm large terrace, you get a spectacular, panoramic view of the valley, the mountains and the alpine slopes. There is a short distance to the city center with cafes, restaurants and bars.
Hemsedal Ski Resort is placed in Buskerud between Oslo and Bergen. The place is also called The Scandinavian Alps. From November to May, you are almost certain of snow on a super modern ski resort.
In Hemsedal you can go skiing or take a ride with a dog sledge, a horse carts or a snowmobile. Hemsedal is also ideal for families outside the ski season with many good places to fish.
This lovely log holiday home is a perfect setting for a skiing holiday, a family holiday or both at the same time.
Prices start from GBP 1,386, which is GBP 77 per person, if you are 18 people to share.
This house needs to booked at least 1 year ahead!
