Story Synopsis: Dr William Kennedy, a prominent member of the medical community, has also been one of the leading forces in
Jonesborough’s forty-year historic preservation movement.
This series introduces the doctor in relation to his passion for
renovation and the adaptive reuse of historic Jonesborough,
the role the town and the Historic Zoning Commission has
played since interests arose in the 1970s, and as he defines
the approach and current beliefs related to the responsible
preservation of this community’s historical relevance.
The series begins with a montage of 'before and after'
photographs – many of which are from Dr Kennedy’s public
collection, the Paul Fink collection, and other such images
graciously provided by the Heritage Alliance of Jonesborough.
It should be noted that throughout this series, the H.A.
images are a priceless contribution to the telling of Dr Kennedy’
s story, and that without the Alliance’s generosity our films
would be conspicuously empty of their current visual richness.
(We all thank the Heritage Alliance, and in fact, all heritage
institutions for their essential services: Please help them to
continue their good works in any way you find possible.) A
short biographical segment follows the montage that explores
Dr Kennedy’s long relationship with both the town of
Jonesborough and its preservation movement. He deftly
introduces the Historic Zoning Commission and its role in
Jonesborough’s effort to redefine itself and thrive as it builds
its future on its past.
The subsequent three films explore major themes in detail;
whereas, the Sabin House and Eureka Inn videos are case in
point examples of modern preservationist efforts.

SUMMARY
=======
Arkansas ( AR-kən-saw) is a state in the southern region of the United States, home to over 3 million people as of 2017. Its name is of Siouan derivation from the language of the Osage denoting their related kin, the Quapaw Indians. The state's diverse geography ranges from the mountainous regions of the Ozark and the Ouachita Mountains, which make up the U.S. Interior Highlands, to the densely forested land in the south known as the Arkansas Timberlands, to the eastern lowlands along the Mississippi River and the Arkansas Delta.
Arkansas is the 29th largest by area and the 33rd most populous of the 50 United States. The capital and most populous city is Little Rock, located in the central portion of the state, a hub for transportation, business, culture, and government. The northwestern corner of the state, such as the Fayetteville–Springdale–Rogers Metropolitan Area and Fort Smith metropolitan area, is a population, education, and economic center. The largest city in the state's eastern part is Jonesboro. The largest city in the state's southeastern part is Pine Bluff.
The Territory of Arkansas was admitted to the Union as the 25th state on June 15, 1836. In 1861, Arkansas withdrew from the United States and joined the Confederate States of America during the Civil War. On returning to the Union in 1868, the state continued to suffer due to its earlier reliance on slavery and the plantation economy, causing the state to fall behind economically and socially. White rural interests continued to dominate the state's politics until the civil rights movement. Arkansas began to diversify its economy following World War II and relies on its service industry, aircraft, poultry, steel, tourism, cotton, and rice.
The culture of Arkansas is observable in museums, theaters, novels, television shows, restaurants, and athletic venues across the state. Arkansas's enduring image has earned the state a special place in the American consciousness. People such as politician and educational advocate William Fulbright; former President Bill Clinton who served as the 40th and 42nd Governor of Arkansas; his wife, former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton; former NATO Supreme Allied Commander General Wesley Clark, Walmart magnate Sam Walton; singer-songwriters Johnny Cash, Charlie Rich, and Glen Campbell; the poet C. D. Wright; and physicist William L. McMillan, who was a pioneer in superconductor research; have all lived in Arkansas.

SUMMARY
=======
The Arkansas Delta is one of the six natural regions of the state of Arkansas. Willard B. Gatewood Jr., author of The Arkansas Delta: Land of Paradox, says that rich cotton lands of the Arkansas Delta make that area The Deepest of the Deep South.The region runs along the Mississippi River from Eudora north to Blytheville and as far west as Little Rock. It is part of the Mississippi embayment, itself part of the Mississippi River Alluvial Plain. The flat plain is bisected by Crowley's Ridge, a narrow band of rolling hills rising 250 to 500 feet (76 to 152 m) above the flat delta plains. Several towns and cities have been developed along Crowley's Ridge, including Jonesboro. The region's lower western border follows the Arkansas River just outside Little Rock down through Pine Bluff. There the border shifts to Bayou Bartholomew, stretching south to the Arkansas-Louisiana state line.
While the Arkansas Delta shares many geographic similarities with the Mississippi Delta, it is distinguished by its five unique sub-regions: the St. Francis Basin, Crowley's Ridge, the White River Lowlands, the Grand Prairie and the Arkansas River Lowlands (also called the Delta Lowlands). Much of the region is within the Mississippi lowland forests ecoregion.
The Arkansas Delta includes the entire territories of 15 counties: Arkansas, Chicot, Clay, Craighead, Crittenden, Cross, Desha, Drew, Greene, Lee, Mississippi, Monroe, Phillips, Poinsett, and St. Francis. It also includes portions of another 10 counties: Jackson, Lawrence, Prairie, Randolph, White, Pulaski, Lincoln, Jefferson, Lonoke and Woodruff counties.
