In a recently restored shop-house, one of the oldest in Bangkok, the Heritage Craft Shop and Café is a convenient and interesting stop-over on a walkabout of the old city of Bangkok (Rattanakosin Island).
Just the place to take a rest in the heat of the day!
Come in for a cup of fair-trade coffee or tea and a cake, bun or cookie and take a look at the crafts we have displayed.

We revisit Err to try some of the Top Craft Beers in Bangkok. Watch the original visit for to the restaurant for prices and recommended items here:
Since the big beer brands have a monopoly on beer production, Thai laws make it difficult to brew beer in Thailand as a hobby or small production. This climate has for years stifled the growth of Bangkok's beer scene. However, that is beginning to change. Today there are beer brewers all over Thailand and many of them are becoming easier to find and try yourself.
If you're a beer lover pay attention to the beer brands in this episode. They include:
PheeBok
Sandport
Full Moon
Golden Coins
Some of the food included in this video:
pork collar
sun dried pork
grilled chicken
turmeric fried squid
pan roaster watermelon seeds
deep fried chicken skin w/ homemade sriracha (see
Let's hope there will continue to be more of a mainstream move of Thai craft beer into the public sphere and a relaxing of laws that limit brewing in Thailand.

Volunteering in Bangkok (& Somali Food for World Refugee Day 2015)
Volunteering in Bangkok with In Search of Sanuk:
Previous video with Dwight and his Courageous Kitchen Project:
Just after getting back from our trip to Malaysia (lots of videos from Penang to come soon), I hung out with my friend Dwight Turner for the day. Dwight and I have been friends in Bangkok for many years, and he’s the founder of In Search of Sanuk, a non-profit organization that helps people through having fun, and sometimes through food.
One of his biggest projects is a Saturday project where he and a number of volunteers help teach kids and do activities with them. Some kids learned English while others played games and did crafts. But the highlight of the day was cooking, and it’s something many of the kids really enjoy doing and learning. Many of the kids in this area don’t know about proper nutrition or or even proper ways to cook food, and so one of Dwight biggest project is bringing food into the equation.
On this day volunteering in Bangkok, the kids cooked spring rolls. The spring rolls included cabbage, carrots, and a mixture of vegetables, all wrapped up, and deep fried to a golden crisp. Once all the spring rolls were fried, we ate lunch together with all the kids - we ate spring rolls, eggs, and rice.
After hanging out for more of the morning and into the middle of the afternoon. Dwight and I returned to his house where he cooked up some mackerel which he had in the fridge and which needed to be eaten. The mackerel, cooked up with tomato sauce, was excellent.
For dinner, in honor of World Refugee Day 2015, we went to a venue in Bangkok that was hosting a refugee dinner to raise money. There were many types of food available including Somali food and plenty of people selling Pakistani food. I enjoyed a delicious bowl of Pakistani mutton leg stew with naan, some different types of kebabs, and a big plate mixture of Somali food.
It was a wonderful day in Bangkok, Thailand, first volunteering with Dwight, then going to the a World Refugee Day 2015 food fundraiser.

Delectable WEST COAST BBQ on Pacific Coast Highway Road Trip | Mendocino, California
Driving on the Pacific Coast Highway in California is a must do in your lifetime! I teamed up with Mazda to drive their MX5 Miata from Mendocino to Healdsburg and to explore along the way!
My Film Making Kit►
We started the day at the Heritage House Resort and drove north to Mendocino. We first stopped at the Pygmy Forest of Mini Trees and then hit up the Mendocino Headlands State Park.
From there along the Highway 128 which connects Mendocino and Healdsburg. Here we drove through some huge red woods. We also stopped at the Apple Farm to try some apples and apple juice.
Next stop is the Burger Ranch & BBQ, they are famous for their ribs and brisket. The BBQ was unreal! I loved every single bite! They have many bbq sauces, my favorite was the sweat one!
Lastly I gave you a tour of my incredible hotel room at Hotel Healdsburg in Healdsburg, Sonoma County.
I loved driving a Mazda MX5 Miata along the Pacific Coast Highway. There is nothing like driving a convertible sports car along those curvy hilly streets. A must do in your lifetime!

Craft Beer and Fine Dining Collide at Bangkok's Mikkeller Branch
Craft beer in Bangkok goes uber classy and Dwight gets a taste!

See Dwight's photos and details on Upstairs at Mikkeller here:
In Dwight's first fine dining episode he crashes into Upstairs at Mikkeller, the 2nd floor of the bar known around the world for it's jet-setting, gypsy brewer. The bar itself has 30+ beers on tap and they rotate often. For bar snacks sit down stairs and ask for the menu.
However, if you have a budget to splurge and love craft beer and experimental food, Chef Dan Bark's menu is pretty incredible. Bring your wallet though, the experience costs 4,900 baht ($135) for 10 courses paired with beer from the six taps fresh a few feet away from the table.
List of Mikkeller beers at the pairing:
Get Wit or Die Trying
Whenever
19 IPA (Dwight's fave)
Spontanframboos (Dwight's least fave)
Orange Yuzu Glad I Said Porter
Santa's Little Helper
Ask about them at the bar downstairs if you don't join the pairing dinner.

Dwight visits Ock Pop Tok living crafts center in Luang Prabang!

The motto for Ock Pop Tok is Discover Laos Through Textiles as the organization strives to elevate the under appreciated craft of weaving into the spotlight. You can purchase OPT products at the downtown Luang Prabang shops, but I highly recommend taking the free tour of the Living Crafts Centre (there is a free tuktuk from the down town shops). There you can learn about the craft, see the weaving in action, and even sign up for a class to give it a try.
In addition to the living crafts there is a gift shop, restaurant, and guest house all on the same premises. So if you're not in need of keepsakes you can support this project with your appetite or even your hotel budget.
This is a fair trade project and worth attention and support please check it out while you're in Luang Prabang!

Thai Street Food & Culture at a Festival in Thailand, Part 2. Thai Ways of Life Culture Festival
New Thailand videos every Wednesday. Subscribe: Thai Street Food & Shopping at a Thai Ways of Life Culture Festival in Thailand. This was a cultural festival where I live in Krabi in southern Thailand. Like any Thai fair or festival in Thailand it was a great place for shopping and there was also tons of Thai cuisine and street food! In addition there were Thai culture displays, Thai dance and music and lots of traditional arts and crafts. If you come across a fair or festival in Thailand I highly recommend that you check it out. Hopefully this video will give you some idea of what you can expect.
You can see part 1 of this video here:
Thai Street Food is really delicious, it’s a must to try if you’re on holidays in Thailand. Thailand food markets and festivals are great places to buy fresh and authentic Thai food and street food while you travel in Thailand. There are so many Thai dishes on offer and the foods here are cheap, and so tasty! And in case you’re worried, eating street food is safe. It’s what the locals eat and it is cooked fresh and sold quickly. I’ve been eating it for 4 years in Thailand and my friends who have been to visit and tour Thailand have all eaten it, and none of us have had any problems. Thai street food is some of the best and tastiest Thai food you’ll find in Thailand!
The markets and festivals in Thailand are a great place to get an insight into Thai culture while you travel in Thailand. You can shop alongside the locals and learn what they buy and eat. And the markets are a great place to try traditional Thai street foods, learn Thai recipes and cooking, as well as eat some of the best Thai dishes in Thailand. You'll see the people cooking the food right in front of you. And best of all, the food is cheap, often much cheaper than eating in a Thai restaurant. Eating at markets is a good way to eat cheap on your Thailand holidays.
Make sure you check out some Thai Food Markets and festivals on your trip to Thailand, and be sure to sample some of the amazing Thai street food that's available in Thailand! If you want to try some of the most delicious food in the world be sure to visit Thailand!

If you're looking into Thailand Hotels have a look at hotels and resorts in Krabi. The islands and beaches of Krabi are famous for Thailand holidays, the movie The Beach was filmed on Krabi's Koh Phi Phi Island.

Maggie Choo's is a nightclub with a turn of the century Chinese trading post theme. There's secret rooms, live music, and girls on swings and above the bar. When I visited (December 2015) they had just introduced a pop-up collaboration with Opposite Mess Hall Chef Jess Barnes. The menu has a Big Trouble in Little China theme, including the bone marrow dumplings and duck bao featured in the video.
