RV Travel Life | Hermitage Point (Grand Teton National Park) & John Lost in the Woods
John discovered how easy it is to misread a trail head. Hermitage Point is a 9.2 mile hike if you complete the full loop, however the trail head marker said 4.0 miles. He barely had any light left by the time he got home. Along the way he saw some of the most beautiful views in the world.

Our Itinerary:
Day 1 - #hermitagepoint
The hike to Hermitage Point is a wonderful start to your Grand Tetons experience! The hike itself is pretty long - just under 10 miles - but it is along the lake for pretty much the entire time, so there is not much in terms of elevation change. It feels like an easy walk, only the walk has some of the best views this planet has to offer! And Hermitage Point itself is...WOW! The point sticks out into Jackson Lake in a way that gives an absolutely wonderful panorama view of the Teton Mountain range.
Day 2 - #grandviewpoint to #twooceanlake and #emmamatildalake
This hike is a bit more challenging, but also more rewarding than the hike to Hermitage Point. The hike we describe is not one single named trail in Grand Tetons, but is the combination of parts of 3 separate trails. However, when you combine the trails as we did, the reward is 3 separate STUNNING sites all achieved by hiking less than 10 miles! If you did all 3 trails separately, you could do 20 miles EASILY! Our way is much better, in our opinion...
Day 3 - #signalmountain
The Signal Mountain hike is basically a 'must' for anyone visiting Grand Teton National Park. The hike offers an absolutely beautiful panorama view at the apex, but along the way is so much wildlife activity on a beautiful forest trail. The hike is moderately challenging, but is more than worth it at the top. Note that you can drive to the top of Signal Mountain if you'd like, however the hike is MUCH more rewarding if you are asking us...
Day 4 - #jennylake Loop
Jenny Lake is a stunning lake that is basically shaped like an ablong circle, making it perfect for a walk around the lake. The hike itself is over 7 miles, however there is not much in terms of elevation gain - after all, you are just taking a lap around the lake! On the opposite side of the lake, you'll be able to see Hidden Falls and Inspiration Point, two incredible sites that are 'musts' on your visit to the Grand Tetons!
Day 5 - #stringlake Loop & #taggartlake Loop with a #bradleylake Detour!
This day was our ABSOLUTE FAVORITE day hiking in Grand Teton National Park (and maybe ever!). The day started out with String Lake, which has a perfectly reflective stillness that DOUBLED the view of the mountains. After that, we went to explore Taggart Lake and Bradley Lake, each absolutely STUNNING in their own right. The 3 lakes we hiked to on Day 5 will always stick out as a special day for us, and one of the most beautiful days we've ever experienced while hiking National Parks.
Day 6 - Bradley Lake and #garnetcanyon
Garnet Canyon is a wonderful hike, and is often used by hikers that are doing multiple days in the Tetons backcountry. The Garnet Canyon hike itself is wonderfully gorgeous, and offers a great view of the same Bradley Lake we hiked to the previous day!
Day 7 - #deathcanyon to Patrol Cabin
The Patrol Cabin is SUPER cool, and very interesting to think about when it was in use. A person was living in this cabin, patrolling the surrounding area, with essentially no contact with the outside world for DAYS at a time. What a TRIPPY experience that is for us to think about in present day!

Inspiration Point - Grand Teton National Park
In the summer, the trail up to Inspiration Point is one of the most popular hikes in Grand Teton. The Inspiration Point provides a panoramic view of the beautiful Jenny Lake and its surroundings.
Grand Teton National Park is a United States National Park that is located in the Rocky Mountains, in Northwest Wyoming. The park is south of Yellowstone National Park and just north of the town of Jackson. Grand Teton National Park is noted for its stunning mountain vistas, its shimmering alpine lakes and its abundant wildlife.

RV Travel Life | A Bear Baiter in Grand Teton National Park
On 5/22/2017 We were camped at Colter Bay RV Park located inside the Grand Teton National Park. We reported the incident to National Park Service Law Enforcement and they handled the case. We were able to give law enforcement the footage of the suspect dumping the fish.
Bears are very intelligent carnivorous mammals that reside in abundantly in this area. Since 2006 they have had to Destroy, meaning kill, 6 bears in this park due to humans feeding them and then they go in search of the food. When they find more people with food, they can become aggressive and attack in order to get the food that they want. We were very concerned about this because the previous night, the same gentleman was cooking a steak and the bear walked up to him. The Bear was identified as Brutus. The gentleman placed the fish in the same location he saw the bear. This is not only baiting bears, we saw the clever fox take most of the fish just in the time the park ranger was speaking to him. This gentleman literally put everyone's lives in danger in the campground by doing this. Normally we would have just ignored such ignorant behavior but this was becoming a dangerous situation for people, pets, and children.
DO NOT FEED WILDLIFE

RV Travel Life | Grand Tetons to Yellowstone
Our Trip from Grand Teton National Park (Colter Bay RV Park) to West Yellowstone (Grizzly RV Park) was pretty neat. We decided to not use our GPS as both the Garmin and Rand McNally we have said that we needed to go south and then all the way around the two parks to get to West Yellowstone. We read several articles about big rigs on US 191 North to West Yellowstone from Grand Tetons and they said that the roads were fine. They were correct. The only minor issues we faced were people stopping to take pictures but it only happened twice. This was on Memorial Day Weekend, the busiest for the two parks. The drive took us 2.5 hours total, and we even missed our turn and added about 20 minutes. If you are hesitant about this route, we are confident in saying you should go for it. We had a great time and got to see the park to help plan our visit!

The Lakeshore Trail in Grand Teton National Park forms a figure-eight shape as it works its way out onto a peninsula that forms Colter Bay's north shore. This hike gives some wonderful views of Jackson Lake and the Tetons, but spends a large portion of its time in the peninsula's woods.

Grand Teton National Park
Grand Teton National Park is a United States National Park in northwestern Wyoming. At approximately 310,000 acres, the park includes the major peaks of the 40-mile-long Teton Range as well as most of the northern sections of the valley known as Jackson Hole. It is only 10 miles south of Yellowstone National Park, to which it is connected by the National Park Service-managed John D. Rockefeller, Jr. Memorial Parkway. Along with surrounding National Forests, these three protected areas constitute the almost 18,000,000-acre Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, one of the largest intact mid-latitude temperate ecosystems in the world.
Human history of the Grand Teton region dates back at least 11,000 years, when the first nomadic hunter-gatherer Paleo-Indians began migrating into the region during warmer months pursuing food and supplies. In the early 19th century, the first White explorers encountered the eastern Shoshone natives. Between 1810 and 1840, the region attracted fur trading companies that vied for control of the lucrative beaver pelt trade. U.S. Government expeditions to the region commenced in the mid-19th century as an offshoot of exploration in Yellowstone, with the first permanent white settlers in Jackson Hole arriving in the 1880s. Efforts to preserve the region as a national park commenced in the late 19th century, and in 1929 Grand Teton National Park was established, protecting the major peaks of the Teton Range. The valley of Jackson Hole remained in private ownership until the 1930s, when conservationists led by John D. Rockefeller, Jr. began purchasing land in Jackson Hole to be added to the existing national park. Against public opinion and with repeated Congressional efforts to repeal the measures, much of Jackson Hole was set aside for protection as Jackson Hole National Monument in 1943. The monument was abolished in 1950 and most of the monument land was added to Grand Teton National Park.

Wyoming Vacation
Wyoming is one of the best vacation spots in the U.S. There are a number of places of great tourist attraction. Some of them are The Buffalo Bill Historical Center in Cody, National Museum of Wildlife Art in Jackson, Wyoming State Capitol in Cheyenne, Cody Night Rodeo in Cody, the Grand Targhee Ski Resorts in Jackson and Alta. For tourists who prefer the wonders of nature to man made ones, Wyoming presents the Old Faithful and Mammoth Hot Springs in Yellowstone National Park, National Elk Refuge in Jackson, Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area, and Thunder Basin National Grassland. Wyoming is famous for its game and fishing. It also offers horseback riding, golf and rock climbing
Each season provides a different experience in Wyoming. Summer is the best time to visit the state. Climate is moderate at this time of the year. Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks are open to cars in summer. In summer, tourists can enjoy disc golf, hiking, and horseback riding, biking, rafting and kayaking. In winter, Wyoming offers skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling, dog sledding, paragliding, and ballooning. Winter is the time for heli-skiing, snowcat skiing, snowshoeing, Nordic skiing, sleigh rides, hot spring sightseeing, and much more.
The spring season is a beautiful time to visit Wyoming too. Wildlife is aplenty in Wyoming and viewing animals is more common during spring, as they come down to the snow-free valley to feed. Fall brings with it a huge crowd of elks. It is the time for hunting. However, hunting is not allowed in the National Parks.
There is a variety of accommodation available in Wyoming, ranging from luxury spa resorts, ranches, log cabins, hotels, motels, lodges and houses for rent. There are direct flights to Jackson Hole and Cody.
