UNITED KINGDOM: Belfast (Nothern Ireland, UK)
Belfast (Irish: Béal Feirste) is the capital city of Northern Ireland, on the banks of the River Lagan on the east coast of Ireland. It is the largest city in Northern Ireland, and second largest on the island. It had a population of 333,871 in 2015.
By the early 1800s Belfast was a major port. It played a key role in the Industrial Revolution, becoming the biggest linen producer in the world, earning it the nickname Linenopolis. By the time it was granted city status in 1888, it was a major centre of the Irish linen as well as tobacco-processing, rope-making and shipbuilding industries. Harland and Wolff, which built the RMS Titanic, was the world's biggest shipyard. It also has a major aerospace and missiles industry. Industrialisation and the inward migration it brought made Belfast Ireland's biggest city and it became the capital of Northern Ireland following the Partition of Ireland in 1922. Its status as a global industrial centre ended in the decades after the Second World War.
Belfast suffered greatly in the Troubles, and in the 1970s and 1980s was one of the world's most dangerous cities. In the 21st century, the city has seen a sustained period of calm, free from the intense political violence of former years, and substantial economic and commercial growth. Belfast remains a centre for industry, as well as the arts, higher education, business, and law, and is the economic engine of Northern Ireland. Belfast is still a major port, with commercial and industrial docks dominating the Belfast Lough shoreline, including the Harland and Wolff shipyard. It is served by two airports: George Best Belfast City Airport, and Belfast International Airport 15 miles (24 km) west of the city. It is listed by the Globalization and World Cities Research Network (GaWC) as a Gamma minus global city.

Britain's Most Historic Towns Episode 6 Victorian Belfast
The history of Belfast as a settlement goes back to the Iron Age,[1] but its status as a major urban centre dates to the 18th century. Belfast today is the capital of Northern Ireland. Belfast was throughout its modern history a major commercial and industrial centre, but the late 20th century saw a decline in its traditional industries, particularly shipbuilding.
The city's history has been marked by violent conflict between Catholics and Protestants which has caused many working class areas of the city to be split into Catholic and Protestant areas. In recent years the city has been relatively peaceful and major redevelopment has occurred, especially in the inner city and dock areas.

Things to Do in Belfast - Belfast Tour - Belfast Attractions
For all those who are coming to Belfast soon and still didn't make a plan for the places they have to visit then this is the video for you because we have brought those hot spots of Belfast, Northern Ireland, and the things to do and the places to visit to try and help a little bit.
When you first arrive in Belfast - if you are coming by bus or train - you will arrive at the Europa station where you will be landing in the heart of Belfast and should then get ready for the different things you are going to do and see.
Just across the street from the famous Europa station, there is the oldest bar in Belfast city, the Crown Liquor Bar, so you could start your day with warming up with Guinness or you could even leave that part of the day to the end, to when you will come back to the same station to go back where you came from.
From the different interesting things to do in Belfast is to visit the Grand Opera House and attend any of the shows which might be taking place there. The Grand Opera House is on the other side of the street from the bar and there are always loads of shows there, so definitely go ahead with it and book yourself something to watch, you will definitely enjoy your time there and will find a different kind of thing to do in the evening.
So, getting done with the first part and which is all related to the landing location, there are still other places in Belfast which one should visit. One of the things that are considered a must to visit in this city is Belfast City Hall which was built in the very late 1800 and which we consider a really different kind of building. For those who are willing to visit Belfast City Hall - which we believe lots of people already have this on their plan - there are tours held in the morning which will take you through all the rooms of the building for free, and there is also a new exhibition which was added recently about the history of Belfast and the key events of the city which we believe is really good for the kids as well (
Leaving Belfast City Hall behind, there is one thing which we believe is important - for women the most :-) - which is shopping. If you want to do a little bit of shopping in Belfast then you have to take our advice and go to the Royal Avenue which is considered one of the main shopping streets in Belfast with different local as well as international brands and there are also some coffee shops and restaurants for those who want to take a rest from their shopping, and there is also the favorite Victoria Square shopping center which carries lots of different shops inside that will give people the chance to buy everything from there, as well as the top floor which is all about restaurants. Lastly, there is also the Castle Court which is one of the original shopping centers in Belfast, Northern Ireland, which carries all the different types of shops that you might be searching for and again there is an eating area with loads of fast food restaurants.
We are suggesting those places which people could visit as some kind of knowing more about the culture and history of Belfast, and we will also suggest those places which will give people a suggestion for a place which they want to visit at night. If you want to have a place to spend your night at then you could head to the Cathedral Quarter which is filled with hotels, restaurants, and bars which you could choose one from and spend some time at ( One of our favorite places is The Merchant Hotel which is the only five stars hotel in Belfast and which is great for those who want to spend their night in a different kind of way like having a cup of tea or enjoying a cocktail.
Just beside The Merchant Hotel there is the famous Anne's Cathedral, which also happens to be one of the most famous cathedrals in Belfast which is really old and one could get inside and have a tour in this old beautiful building (
The best thing about Belfast is that everything is within a walking distance, so walking away from The Merchant Hotel and Anne's Cathedral, one will reach the Albert clock which is a really old monument in Belfast ( and also for those who will get straight across, they will get to the Titanic Quarter where one could enjoy the museum and get the chance to see this area across the river (
The last thing we would recommend for those searching for something to do in Belfast is book a show or performance at the Ulster Hall which hosts a lot of musical events like the classical musical events with the orchestra.
If you want to find more about Belfast then Visit Belfast is the place for you which is a tourist information center.

Belvoir Park in Belfast, Northern Ireland ????????????
Belvoir Park Belfast - The Forest in the City. Have you ever been there?
Belvoir Park Belfast is located near the city of Belfast, the Belvoir Park Forest is rife with wildlife, including Large Bracket Fungi and flowering plants, such as the Giant Hogweed, as well as birds such as the Long-eared Owls, and mammals such as the red squirrels.
Managed by the Forest Service, Belvoir Park Forest walks within the forest link to the Lagan River 'Towpath' and the Lagan Valley Regional Park (
It is close to Belvoir Park Golf Club, Belvoir Park Hospital and Forestside Shopping Centre and it is open to visitors 24 hours a day.
Interesting Landmarks
• Belvoir Motte
The Belvoir motte dates back to the Norman era when John de Courcy invaded Ulster and established settlements at Dundrum and Carrickfergus. The motes were set up as defense against the southern approaches to Carrickfergus.
• Woodland
The Belvoir Park Forest is home to almost thirty-five species of birds, including common resident species, such as blackbird, song thrush, robin and woodpigeon and more unusual species such as jay and long-eared owl.
• Medieval Graveyard
A private graveyard is located within the Park and has been in there since the 14th century. Currently, it holds the empty tomb of the Dungannon family.
• Arboretum
The previous estate owners, the Dungannons and Batesons, planted many trees in park. Thanks to them, there are now numerous mature specimens of trees, such as redwood and cedar.
History of Belvoir Park Belfast
The Hill family settled at Belvoir in the early 18th century and built a large house that stood on the site of the current car park. In the 19th century, the Hill family sold the estate to the Batesons, whose son became Lord Deramore in 1885. The Deramores returned to England at the end of the 19th century and leased the estate to Walter H Wilson, a partner with Harland and Wolff. The last private tenant at Belvoir was Sir James Johnston, who was the Lord Mayor of Belfast in 1917-18.
“Belvoir’s trees are living landmarks, home to thousands of species of plants and animals, yet sadly lacking the recognition they deserve”, says Nikki Williams, Ancient Tree Hunt project manager. She also adds that “anyone can visit the web site and add their discoveries. Identifying their whereabouts is an important first step in securing their future - both for the benefit of wildlife and for the enjoyment of generations to come... We want to give as many people as possible in Northern Ireland the chance to get to grips with our remarkable old trees, and Belvoir Park Forest provides the perfect venue. With its extensive parkland and woodland, Belvoir is home to an impressive number of veteran trees which have seen centuries come and go. This event is brimming with activity. It’s a chance to learn how to identify and record our ancient trees, and it’s also an opportunity to simply enjoy the beauty of woodland. We have a creative agenda in store for kids as well, so there’s something for all the family.”
Definitely worth visiting Belvoir Forest - there are not too many forests of this size and diversity in Belfast.

Ulster Museum Belfast | Northern Ireland | Belfast Museums
Are you still thinking about the museums to visit in Belfast during your vacation? Let us explore more about Ulster Museum which is one of the different suggestions we have.
Ulster Museum in Belfast is the place where you are going to hear the unique human story of Ireland as well as other different parts of the globe, and you will be even given guidance through the collection you are going to witness. From the interesting and exciting collection which you are going to see inside the museum, there are dinosaurs, Egyptian mummy, you will dive into the discovery zones, and a lot more.
This museum located in Belfast is for all people and all age groups because it carries something inside for all the different types of people; it has something for art lovers, for excited children who want to learn something new, for history buffs and for all the curious people out there.
There are different things to be seen inside the museum, such as the bronze age gold jewelry, the Corrard torc, which was discovered in 2009 and is the only coiled torc of this type from Ireland. There is also the Champion Patrick of Ifold, which is an Irish wolfhound that was born on St. Patrick's Day in 1923 and died in 1931 at the age of eight; wolfhounds are considered a symbol of wealth and strength in Ireland.
The list is still long, among the different other things to be seen in Ulster Museum, there is the Dale Chihuly Glass Sculpture which was done by Dale Chihuly who is the most famous glass maker in the world. Peter the Polar Bear is also one thing to be found inside this amazing museum and it is one of the museum's most famous exhibits who died in 1972 and Belfast Zoo decided to give it to Ulster Museum; it was considered the largest animal ever mounted in Northern Ireland.
In addition to showcasing things and parts of Northern Ireland, Ulster Museum is also educating people and entertaining them with other pieces from around the world, such as having Takabuti, the ancient Egyptian mummy, which helps in telling people more about how the ancient Egyptians prepared for death since they believed it is another life which they never feared. Natron salt, sweet smelling spices, resins, oils and linen bandages were used to preserve the body. The stomach, intestine, lungs and liver were stored in canopic jars made from clay or stone. Victoria Park Belfast Northern Ireland - Connswater Belfast
There are lots of parks that are scattered all around Belfast, Northern Ireland, and we have to say that sometimes in the middle of a trip to a specific country, passing by a park at some point to enjoy a walk among the green spaces and sometimes even a river is needed. One of the top parks found in Belfast is Victoria Park!
Victoria Park opened back in 1906 in Connswater area of Belfast. Victoria Park is open to the public all week and all day and it is home for different things inside, such as the playing fields that include soccer pitches, a bowling green and a cycling and BMX track. From the things that attract visitors to this park is the lake and there are two walking trails which rotates around the lake.
There is a history behind creating this park in Belfast and it all started back in 1854 when the idea was suggested by the Harbour Commissioner but the progress of bringing this park to life was very slow because the land was very marshy, inaccessible to the public and thus was not considered suitable for being a public park, but working on the idea brought it finally to life in 1906 and was then welcoming the public to come inside and enjoy their time.
In addition to those different fields which are found inside the park and thus calling out for people who want a place to play sports in, there was even an outdoor swimming pool that opened later and was also one of the attractions of this park in Belfast especially for the local people.
Helping people with the sports part of their life, Victoria Park holds a weekly 5k run which is held by Parkrun, this run is free of charge and it is organized by volunteers and is welcoming people of different ages, sizes, shapes and whatever their abilities are. It is always good to make something different out of the public places which are found in the city and that is one of the good uses of Victoria Park in Belfast.
There are different attractions of this park which will differ according to the person and his/her likes and dislikes; there are those who will enjoy walking there, those who will go for a run, others who might aim at this place to sit silently among the sounds of the birds, etc.
From the famous attractions of Victoria Park, its lake is one among the list since it is home to a wide range of water birds, such as swans, geese, ducks, herons and migrant waders - this would make a perfect setting for those who are coming to enjoy sitting by the lake and have some peace of mind. This variety of wildlife led to this park being part of Belfast Lough ASSI (Area of Special Scientific Interest) project.
Among the other interesting things which are related to Victoria Park of Belfast is the poetry trail which features ten nature-themed poems written by local primary school pupils and etched onto metal plaques around the park.
The playing fields, the lake, the birds and any other thing that might be making this park different than all the others come in addition to the flower and rose beds which are scattered all around the area and make it attractive for just sitting around or having a walk there - so it could be a place for tourists coming to Belfast and want to make something that would free their minds a little bit in the middle of all the trips they would be doing.
This historical park which is surrounded by some modern infrastructure is not the only park to be found in Belfast, Northern Ireland, but there are other ones which we even managed to go and visit some of them. In Belfast, we have been to Lagan Valley Regional Park ( Sir Thomas and Lady Dixon Park which is from the oldest and the most famous in the city ( Colin Glen Park which is famously known for its Gruffalo Trail and thus is always considered a good hit for the kids ( Ormeau Park ( Belvoir Park Forest ( and the famous Botanic Gardens which are also located in Belfast (
Who out there does not like the idea of a park? It is suitable for all the different members of the family with all their different ages, it is the place for those who want to do some sports, those kids who want to play around in a suitable playground and it is even the place for those who want to go for a walk or those who want to sit in a little bit of a quiet and relaxing place.

Festival of Fools, Belfast Northern Ireland - Belfast Events
Festival of Fools in Belfast, Northern Ireland, is one of those events of the year in which you will sit down on the floor mesmerized about the talents performing in front of your own eyes and giving you some good time to enjoy.
This year's Festival of Fools in Belfast was held from April 28 to May 1, where different free street style performers from different parts of the world came to perform for the Irish people and give them a good laugh in a talented way. These different talents which came to Belfast City Centre included shows like acrobatics, circus acts, clowning and astounding toomfoolery.
The main aim of the Festival of Fools is to build the international reputation for presenting some of the finest and funniest street shows that will tour the world - and it would all allow people to watch and attend for free, since they are mostly held in open spaced areas like Belfast's City Centre.
There were different theatre companies and performers who delivered comedic talents in the universal language and who came from different countries and parts of the world to take their roles; they came from Spain, Italy, France, Canada, USA, Argentina, Holland, England, Ireland, and Northern Ireland.
From the different shows which we got the chance to attend at this festival, we watched Bittersweet which was presented by the Umami Dance Theatre and which brings both Spain and France together, we also attended Dan Holzman from USA and saw all those different tricks which he was doing in a very talented manner - we were thrilled something would slip down from his hands - and there was also Jamey Mossengren from USA who is the World Champion Unicyclist who was also doing different tricks and moves on this unicycle, leaving us unable to answer the question of how he keeps himself stable up there, we were also able to attend Boom from USA and see the different kind of show they are offering - there were actually lots of different things in this place that one should watch and the best thing about all this is the fact that it is an open air theatre that is free of charge :-)
Belfast Festival of Fools started its journey back in 2004 and it is now an annual street festival that includes different performances from around the world. The Festival of Fools is free of charge since it is usually held in the street but still the performers get a fixed amount of money and the rest, which the audience might pay at the end of the show, goes to the funding of the next year's event.
The history for the Festival of Fools name did not only stop in Northern Ireland, but there were those held in other countries as well, such as the annual International Festival of Fools which was created by the Friends Roadshow that went from 1975 to 1984 in Amsterdam, and there was also the Festival of Fools which was held by The London Critics Group annually where they used to satire the events of the whole year and perform during Christmas.
We always believe that those types of shows and events are considered the most interesting for people, because don't you ever notice how people usually love to watch those performers in the street on the ordinary days and take photos with those begging for money but in a modernized and custom-dressed manner? That's why we believe that such festivals and shows will be always considered the most successful and which will always bring people to watch them.
There are actually different kinds of festivals which one could attend in Belfast - of course they happen to be at different times during the year - so whenever you happen to be in the city, you should always check the internet to know whether there will be something of any interest to you or not.
In addition to the beautiful experience of Christmas markets in Belfast ( there are other kinds of festivals to check, like the Tesco Food Festival where one could taste different things and go back home with lots of food ( there is also the ships festival in Belfast where different ships come to the shore and allow people to come on board and live the experience ( and there is also the culture night event in Belfast where one will come to experience and witness a lot of cultural things (
The purpose of every single event is different than the other one so it is always important to choose the one that fits your taste. The Festival of Fools in Belfast is considered one of those that brings happiness and laughter to every single face - kids and adults - so never worry about not liking it and think about attending it the coming year, you will never regret taking such a decision during your visit to Belfast - if it happens to be on the same dates.

Belfast City Hall - Northern Ireland - NI - History Tour
Starting the day with a different alone kind of experience which was early in the morning - around 6 AM - and which the main reason behind it was to experience the sunrise of Belfast with a view of the city - it was a magnificent experience and the weather was even good.
Getting back home after witnessing the sunrise and getting the chance to even film those cows moving around, I decided to head back home again after the sun was up and after I managed to take some good pictures for the scenes to be welcomed with the artistic children who were coloring around then playing with their Lego.
Having breakfast at home with the family was the first step in the day coming ahead and which was about visiting Belfast City Hall. Belfast City Hall is the civic building of Belfast City Council that is located in Donegall Square; this building is believed to effectively divide the business and the commercial areas of city centre (
When we reached that place in Belfast city centre where we are supposed to find that City Hall building, we parked at a place which is not directly next to the building, so we had to walk a little bit. This walking experience was interesting for the kids - we as well - because they got the chance to see those statues which were placed in the street to resemble some characters from the past - the woman who used to work both on the typewriter and while being on the telephone - some of these were unknown characters but they tend to resemble one thing or another that was famous back during the old days of Belfast.
Reaching Belfast City Hall started the real journey we intended to go to - the kids were excited about it all that they even started running and playing around the building before we even got inside. Belfast City Hall is known to be the place where the Titanic Memorial is located; in memorial to the victims of the sinking RMS Titanic and there is also the Titanic Garden there which is the only memorial in the world that commemorate all the victims of the Titanic, both passengers and crew. We should mention that Titanic was believed to be built in Northern Ireland back in the old days and that is why it is always given great attention in Belfast (
The interiors of Belfast City Hall building make the whole experience more different due to the elegance of the place and the different things it has to offer. Inside the building, there is the Porte-Cochere and Grand Entrance, the Grand Staircase, the Reception Room and the Great Hall. There are different portraits found inside the building and it is also finished with using Carrara, Pavonazzo, and Brascia marbles as well as the stained glass windows which the kids got the chance to play with its reflection on the wall - me directing them to pick the color that am going to say.
Walking through those rooms is very different - usually happens when one gets the chance to visit such a royal and old palace - because you will be moving through those high ceiling walls and those rooms which are decorated in the royal ways and you will fall in love with the whole experience - it might be more interesting for adults because they could understand at least what they are seeing or even reading which will not always be the same case when it comes to the kids.
Being at Belfast City Hall, we then decided to head to our favorite restaurant in order to have something to eat - which of course was the favorite fish and chips dish - before going back home again.
If you are going to visit Belfast and your plan is to head to the City Hall then it is important to know that there are other touristic destinations and locations which you could also check and pass by and which include Belfast Castle ( the Ulster Museum in Belfast which is a mixture of art, history and natural history ( check the Peace Wall in Belfast ( visit Victoria Park ( checking Narnia and CS Lewis Museum in Belfast ( or even just deciding to go on a walking tour or take the tour bus that would bring them around the city (
There are actually lots of things that one could see in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and lots of different places that one could visit that might even include the restaurants and the shopping places or even those events which might be held during specific times of the year, so people should always know that Belfast is definitely a place to consider and come check all the hidden treasures that it might be carrying and which people might not be knowing much about.
