The Club at Hidden Creek Navarre, FL. Holes 2 through 5 (July-2011).mp4
Online Golf Now's take on The Club at Hidden Creek is one of alittle confusion. On the back of the scorecard you get at Hidden Creek it states, Four of the best golf courses in Florida. Without having played any other courses here in Florida I would be disappointed if this was one of the best 4 the state had to offer.
From the start I would say that the clubhouse did work with us because for a Saturday at 8am we walked on, with just one available tee time. They squeezed us in and did us a favor so they get a plus for that one. The primetime price was also very good at only $59 with a cart.
From hole 1 we were bunched up with a foursome in front of us and behind us, all of us waiting in line to tee off. So the course timing with play and spacing players out may be ok, but it's hard to tell considering they did get us in as walk-ons.
The tee boxes were in pretty rough shape, but it appears they do their best in reseeding the divots.
For a Florida course which is constantly pounded by hot sun, the greens played extremely soft. Almost any club I hit into the green landed soft and stopped quickly after impact. Take note, I don't put much spin on the ball, so this helped keep me in play throughout the day.
The greens rolled at a medium speed, but were brown in many spots and weren't visually appealing. Again, not having played any other Florida courses I'm not if this is what is the norm or whether better care could be taken of the greens.
They do a great a job of stocking water on every hole which tastes just fine and is ice cold.
We saw the beverage cart 3 times throughout the round so I would rate the service average. 3 visits from the beverage cart through 18 rounds is expected and appreciated.
After 9 holes you can stop in the club house for a drink and quick bite before your next 9 holes. They had a fully stocked bar, packed our drinks in ice bags, and the staff was very friendly and courteous to us.
Course difficulty for Hidden Creek is around a 6.
Although relatively easy Hidden Creek plays longer than it appears. The par 5's seem to go on forever and the par 3's always required one club more to hit the green.
There really is no rough to be concerned with, even outside the fairway boundaries. The tree lines pose no real threat as their always seemed to be clear alley ways back to the fairway, and no high grass to content with.
With wide open fairways, minimal hazards, and straight driving range like holes, your most likely in for one of your best rounds.
I was able to shoot 15 strokes under my average this very first time out.
My final assessment of The Club at Hidden Creek is an easy golf course, that's fun to play with friends, not overly crowded and priced properly for what you get.
Good Luck and Good Golfing!
