羽州街道八橋は「一里塚」から始まる。街道の両側に食物や土産品を並べた商店があり、現在まで伝わる「八橋人形」も見える。
Ushu Kaido Yabase starts from Ichirizuka There are shops with food and souvenirs on both sides of the way, and you can see the “Yabase Ningyo” that has been passed down to the present.

With Sunny Dahye, Angel from Beautifymeeh & Sophia from Onebluehat on our last day in Akita we started the morning with a visit to Hachiman Shrine to discover our fortunes. We then headed to Matsushita Maiko House where there are real Maiko! We got to dress in Kimono, watch them dance & have a tea ceremony.
For lunch we headed to Masuda Town and had a fermented lunch - I was a little scared! After, we stopped by Hideyoshi Sake Brewery and finished up the day with an amazing buffet at Akita View Hotel!

The Water City | Gujo Hachiman 名水の町・郡上八幡
Gujo Hachiman, also known as the Water City! It's just about in the middle of Gifu Prefecture, and I highly, highly recommend visiting!! It's a mountain city with rivers running through the middle. There are koi fish everywhere, you can jump into the water, and the are tons of old-fashioned stores with awesome things to look at. I absolutely loved it!

Japan's Ice Village
We're traveling to about half of Japan's prefectures this year thanks to Odigo! You can follow our trips and plan your own on their website:
Daily vlogs of our trips and overall prefecture tours are uploaded to their channel:
This is the Ice Village at Lake Shikaribetsu Kotan in central Hokkaido ( It takes quite a bit of traveling to get there, but once you're in the city the local buses will pick you from the train stations and take you to the lake for free during the ice village season! (Make sure to talk to the hotel front desk to get a free ticket for the bus on the return ride!) The village is free to walk through but all the activities (drinks, ice carving, snowmobile, staying the night in an igloo, onsen, etc) cost money! The drinks were 500 yen each (~$5), and getting it in an ice glass was an additional 500 yen. Supposedly they may have dog sledding at some point, too!?
We were a little early because they hadn't finished building the chapel or the igloos yet, but it was still really cool to see the ice cafe! You can also eat lunch at a restaurant in the hotel, although Jun and I didn't enjoy our meal very much (ymmv).
We haven't added all our Hokkaido destinations to their website yet, but once we do we'll make our Hokkaido trip and share it!

商船は宝塔寺の守護神である七面大名神に祈ることで無事に入港できたと言われ、大阪から感謝の印としてこの石が運ばれたそうです.
The merchant ship was said to have been able to enter the port safely by praying to the Seven-sided Daimyojin, the guardian deity of the treasure tower.
And, It seems that this stone was carried from Osaka as a sign of gratitude

「一本松」は先週、病気の可能性があり、痛ましいことに剪定を受けました。近くの草生津川沿いではヒマワリや色とりどりのコスモスがきれいに咲いています。
“Ipponmatsu” was cut last week because it may be sick and painful.Sunflowers and colorful cosmos are beautifully blooming along the Kusouzu River.

秋田市寺内大小路の羽州街道にあるいにしえの小径をまた、散策してみました。 「藤茶屋」跡 を左に観て古道を降りていきます。寺内大小路の右側に大きな木が見えてきます。このケヤキは推定の樹齢が１,２００年です。
I also took a walk through the ancient path on the Ushu Kaido Road in Akita-shi Terauchi.Watch “Wisteria Tea House”on the left and go down the old road.
A big tree can be seen on the right side of Terauchi-Okoji.This zelkova has an estimated age of 1,200 years.
