The area of southeastern Idaho known as Island Park is mostly a large crater, or caldera, named the Henry's Fork Caldera that was created by the same volcanic hotspot that created the later and much larger Yellowstone Caldera nearby. For the July 4th Independence Day holiday we find a boondocking camp right on the water at Island Park Reservoir for a little kayaking and camping with friends, while visiting Mesa Falls and Harriman State Park in this little town with a very unique history, just 25 minutes from Yellowstone National Park.

Ep. 119: Big Bend National Park | Texas RV travel camping
In this episode of Grand Adventure we're deep in the Chihuahuan Desert, the second largest desert in North America. We're right on the Mexican border, on the banks of the Rio Grande River in the Big Bend area of beautiful West Texas. This is part 1 of our two-part series from the Big Bend.
We're visiting Big Bend National Park. This National Park is massive, encompassing 801,000 acres, the largest protected area of Chihuahuan Desert topography and ecology in the United States. It includes approximately 118 miles of America's national boundary with Mexico along the Rio Grande, designated a wild and scenic river. We'll see Boquillas Canyon, the Boquillas Port of Entry river crossing to Mexico, the Hot Springs Historic Area, Panther Junction, the Chisos Mountains and Chisos Basin, and the Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive. We'll show you the National Park's Rio Grande Village Campground, Chisos Basin Campground and Cottonwood Campground, as well as Maverick Ranch RV Park at Lajitas Golf Resort in the tiny riverside hamlet of Lajitas, where we're staying ourselves.

#7 Denali National Park, Alaska
Encompassing some six million acres (25,400 sq km), this park is larger than the state of New Hampshire. So there’s no disputing its epic proportions. The park’s namesake is the highest mountain peak in North America, rising more than 20,300 feet (6,190 m). In addition to mountain ranges, the geography features include forests, glaciers, and tundra. The main attraction for wildlife lovers tends to be the park’s Big Five: Grizzly bears, moose, wolves, Dall sheep, and caribou (also known as reindeer). Other wild animals include red foxes, hawks, and golden eagles.
#6 Jim Corbett National Park, India
This is the oldest national park in the country, and it’s named in honor of a renowned naturalist and hunter. If you’re into birding you should know that nearly 600 resident and migratory species have been documented here, including the crested serpent eagle and the blossom-headed parakeet. A thick jungle and flowing river provide plenty of prey for the Bengal tigers that roam here. Leopards can be spotted, along with smaller felids like fishing cats. Larger mammals include Himalayan black bears, Sambar deer, and herds of Indian elephants.
#5 Corcovado National Park, Costa Rica
At 164 square miles (424 sq km), this is the largest park in the country. And it’s regarded to rank among the greatest locations of biodiversity on the planet. Whale watchers in particular should like this location. Humpback whales use the coastlines as breeding grounds during winter. Dolphins, manatees, bull sharks, and killer whales are also seasonal residents of the park. Wildlife including tapirs (tay-pers), pumas, sloths, many species of monkeys, and harpy eagles make this habitat their home. Even jaguars are in the vicinity, although the cats tend to be reclusive.
#4 Northern Territory, Australia
While you can see plenty of kangaroos and koalas, this region of Oz will introduce you to water buffalos and Brumbies, which are feral horses that roam free. Top End features floodplains and forests that contain plenty of unique wildlife like monitor lizards and wallaroos. The Mary River area that adjoins Kakadu National Park features flocks of migrating magpie geese and huge numbers of saltwater crocodiles. If those reptiles are too intense, you can always stick with dingoes and Jabiru, also known as large storks.
#3 Yellowstone National Park, US
Opened in 1872, this is the oldest national park in the United States. By many accounts it might be the first national park in the world. Encompassing nearly 3,500 square miles (8,980 sq km), it’s large enough to be located in three states: Wyoming, Idaho (eye-da-hoe), and Montana. It’s famous for geographic features like Old Faithful geyser and Yellowstone Lake, which is located over the largest supervolcano in North America. The vast forests and grasslands are home to nearly 60 mammal species including the largest public herd of American bison in the US. Other large beasts include cougars, black bears, grizzlies, moose, and bighorn sheep. Peregrine falcons and ospreys are among more than 300 species of birds that have been reported in the area. With its canyons, rivers, and mountains, many visitors claim that Yellowstone is the best US park for wildlife watching.
#2 Serengeti National Park, Africa (ser-en-GET-tee)
This large game reserve is the oldest national park in Tanzania (tan-zan-nee-yuh) and is a major tourist draw. Sprawling over 5,700 square miles (14,750 sq km), it contains the Big Five of African game: Lions, Cape buffalo, leopards, black rhinos and the Bush elephant. The Serengeti is thought to have Africa’s largest lion population with about 3,000 individuals. Other high profile animals include aardvarks, honey badgers, pangolins, spotted hyenas, flamingos, and marabou (mare-uh-boe) storks. Great numbers of zebra, gazelles, and hippos are also present. But the most numerous inhabitants are the wildebeest with more than 2 million individuals. Every year these critters participate in an epic annual migration known as the Greatest Show on Earth. It usually starts in November as more than one million wildebeest head north in search of better grazing land and water. Along the way, they’re joined by hundreds of thousands of other animals including zebra and gazelles. By the following October, the wildebeest have returned south. Also known as the Great Migration, it’s regarded as one of the most extraordinary natural events in the world.

Backpacking Yellowstone National Park: A 10 Day October Thorofare Trip
This is a 10 day backpacking loop we did in October, 2015. This is in the south east corner of Yellowstone National Park. We start and end at the Heart Lake Trail Head. Day 1 we hike in and camp at Heart Lake. We the last person we will see until day 10. Day 2 we hike to Grouse Creek, and then follow that up to the South Arm of Yellowstone Lake to camp at 7N4. A grizzly bear comes into camp that night, and hangs around the area all night. Fresh tracks are everywhere in the mud the next morning. Day 3 we hike over to the Southeast Arm of Yellowstone Lake, and camp at a spectacular campsite, 6A3. A huge windstorm develops in the early morning, knocking over several trees in our camp. We stop at the Trail Creek Patrol Cabin, which has a down tree on it, and witness over a dozen trees fall withing a 30 minute period. We continue hiking, cross the Yellowstone River, and camp night 4 at 6C2, which is probably my favorite backcountry campsite in the park. During the night, something whacks our tent. The next 2 days we loiter along the river. We camp at 6Y6 night 5, and 6T2 night 6. Both nights we hear wolves come by camp. Day 7 we cross the Yellowstone River again, and climb up to Mariposa Lake, camping there. Day 8 we cross the Snake River, and follow it down to campsite 8C9. Day 9 we work our way back to Heart Lake, camping at campsite 8J6 for the last night of the trip. We see 2 bears while hiking, and then have another bear in camp several times during the night. In the morning our fire pit was dug out, with fresh bear tracks in the mud. We hike back to our car at the trail head to finish the trip.

We explored Silver Falls in Washington and it was one of the coolest most beautiful hikes of all time. Definitely adventure there if you get the chance! We also hid another one of our #JurgyTreasures...to be exact #3 of all our 50 State Treasures. It's valid for a free Bear Butt Hammock and entry for a free international trip!
We then enjoyed a delicious dinner at the Summit House and enjoyed the view of Mt Rainier! It was so foggy and cloudy but the skies cleared and the view was worth it. Thanks for being beautiful Washington. You're so beautiful.

Join Jesper Tjäder and Emma Dahlström as they go on an adventure through Peru and Ski on the slopes of one of the highest sand dunes in the world.
The dune of Cerro Blanco sits at roughly 2100m above sea level and requires hours of hiking in the sun to reach the top. Once at the top the dune can provide runs for over 1km, a truly unique experience in sand skiing.
Jesper and Emma take their freestyle skiing skills into a new environment and have their first ever attempt at hitting kickers and rails in the sand.

Warm River Springs Idaho
Warm River Campground is located on its namesake in the Caribou-Targhee National Forest of southwestern Idaho. Visitors love the campground for its river tubing opportunities. Fishing and hiking are popular as well.
The campground is situated along the slow-moving Warm River at an elevation of 5,200 feet. Thickets of willow line the riverbanks and pine trees offer partial shade.
Recreation:
Warm River is a popular location for tubing and fishing. Anglers cast for whitefish, brook, rainbow and cutthroat trout.
Numerous hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding trails are in the immediate area, leading to natural springs, waterfalls and old railroad lines and tunnels.
Facilities:
The campground offers one large group site that can accommodate up to 100 guests. Several single sites are also available, 11 of which are for tent camping only.
Vault toilets, drinking water and trash collection are provided. Firewood is available for purchase from the host.

7 - Jarbrige, Nevada
There are only 2 dirt roads that will lead you into Jarbrige in Nevada, one is 80-miles or 128 kms long and it’s not always open. When it snows, you’re not getting through and that is sadly, most of the year. The best time to plan a visit is Spring, where there is an abundance of wildflowers. The little town has no paved roads, so you need a robust vehicle. The name comes from the Shoshone language and means “devil.” It was believed the hills around the town were haunted. The population in 2016 was a mere 116.
6 - Arthur, Nebraska
When the only church in town is made from baled straw, you’re already learning a lot about that little town. Arthur may be small, but it’s worth a trip off the beaten track. Their tiny courthouse doubles up as a museum and the city is home to 117 residents. Founded in 1913, the town and county derived their names from President Chester A. Arthur. When the little town took off, it was home to a general store, a newspaper, church, one-room high school and bank. Arthur got electricity in 1926, although the rest of the county trailed behind, only getting power in the early 1950s.
5 - Edna Bay, Kosciusko Island
This remote and tiny town is located on Kosciusko Island and boasts a shop, church, marina and a few houses. If you’re keen to get away from it all, this is the place to go. It’s advised to kit yourself out for survival in the wild because the little shop is not that well stocked. There are only 49 people living there and they’re mainly loggers and fishermen. There is a small town nearby called Cape Pole, but there are only 100 people living there, and their set-up is much the same. Before Cape Pole was around, the nearest town was Petersburg, 31-miles or 50 km away, and when conditions were icy, that town may as well have been in another country!
4 - Kalaupapa, Hawaii
This unincorporated community is on Molokai island, the least visited island in Hawaii. The only way in is by sea or mule train and the town hugs the coastline of Kalawao County. Back in the 1800s, this used to be a leper colony and is now home to 122 permanent residents. The area is preserved and known as the Kalaupapa Leprosy Settlement and National Historical Park. The town has one post office, a small church and 2,000 unmarked graves. Sadly, you can’t just pay a visit to this remote area on a whim, you need to be invited by one of the 122 residents or go through a pre-determined tour operator.
3 - Winnett, Montana
This secluded town is in Petroleum County, Montana and is home to 185 people. In 2007, this little town convened its 3rd jury…ever! It has government offices, 2 gas stations, a post office, 2 bar and grills and that’s pretty much it. The nearest medical centre is in Lewistown, and there’s not even a hotel for you to stay in if you’re keen to visit. The town was named after Walter John Winnett, who ran away from his Canadian home to seek adventure in “Indian Country.” He was an excellent shot and was captured and adopted by Sioux Indians and given the name “Eagle Eyes.” He built a ranch in the area which served as a place for dances, weddings, school, funerals and services.
2 - Whittier, Alaska
There’s a 2.6 mile or 4 km tunnel that gives you access into Whittier, Alaska, and it’s only accessible during daylight hours. Less than 200 people have made this chilly town their home, and most of them live in one building – Begich Towers. They receive 55-feet or 16-meters of snow throughout the year, so pack your snow gear! It’s been called, “the town under one roof,” and besides most of the people living in that one building, inside there you will also find their police station, grocery store, a church, clinic and a school! You can visit this secluded spot, because in Begich Towers is also a B and B, plus if you’re snowed in and can’t get home, you can always rent DVDs from the grocery store.

10. Hawaii
I know, I get it, of COURSE we're going to put Hawaii on this list! But you're thinking about it in the wrong way. When you're thinking about places to go for vacation, there are certain top tier destinations based on who you are, what your family size is, and more. But, if you're looking for true paradise locations to go to? Hawaii is on the top of many people's lists, or at the very least, it's near the top.
And truth be told, it deserves it in virtually every way! Because when you think about everything Hawaii is, it really is a place that is cool to look at, cool to be in, and a fun place to go to. What more could you ask for from a vacation spot than that?
9. Victoria Falls
Located in Zambia and Zimbabwe, Victoria Falls is one of the seven natural wonders of the world, as well as one of the biggest waterfalls in the world today. Which is saying something as there are some pretty impressive falls all over the world.
This is truly a towering place, at over 300 feet in height, and over one mile in length, it carves quite a path, and drives in a lot of tourism in Africa. In fact, it's one of the most famous World Heritage sites in the continent. Which again, is saying something given all that's in Africa.
8. Yellowstone National Park
There are going to be a few parks that are put on this list, and easily one of the most important ones is that of Yellowstone National Park.
One of the big reasons for this is that Yellowstone National Park was the first officially recognized national park in the United States, and technically, the world. It's so big that it covers multiple states including Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho.
7. The Great Barrier Reef
The oceans of our world are filled with all sorts of creatures that amaze, confuse, and sometimes terrify us. But, it's also home to some of the most beautiful natural creations on the planet. Which is what humans love to see and show off. To that end, off of Australia, you'll find one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world via the Great Barrier Reef.

Ok, I'll admit that this next one isn't exactly for the faint of heart. But the fact can't be denied that Mt. Everest is one of the most important locations on the planet, and that alone makes it a destination you should travel to. And while scary, it is most definitely beautiful.
5. Paris, France
From one of the most isolated places in the world, we now go to one of the most populated cities in the world. Long romanticized as the city of love (don't tell that to the French though, they tend to not like certain outsiders), Paris, France is without a doubt one of the most beautiful cultural cities in the world today. Which is why it's a top-tier tourist destination.

4. Seychelles
Let's head back to the island paradises of the world, shall we? The Seychelles are widely considered one of the most beautiful island chains in the world. In fact, it's so valued, that not only is it a top resort and vacation spot, but some of its forests are actually UNESCO protected. As is half the animal population too. Think about that for a minute, what does it take for you to have HALF your animal population protected? Value and rarity, that's what.
3. Washington D.C.
The capitals of nations are almost always worth seeing for one reason or another. But when it comes to Washington D.C., the beauty of this place is in the history that is quite literally all around you. Washington D.C. has been the capital of the United States since 1790, where they approved a law to make a federal district that isn't a part of any state, and thus is solely independent. Not something you'd expect from a nation, and thus Washington D.C. is rather unique to most countries because of that.
So at times, man-made beauty can be just as good.
2. Fiordland National Park
If you're wanting to go to a place that is great solely because of its beauty and nothing else, then Fiordland National Park in New Zealand is for you. This is because the park is literally known for its beautiful fields and flowers. As well as other vegetation via the local forest. Plus, it's all natural, with very little human interference in regards to the greenery.

I might be a little biased here, but Rome is arguably one of the coolest and most beautiful destinations you can go to for both aesthetic, cultural, and historical reasons.
First off, it's the capital of Italy, and it has one of the biggest populations in not just Italy, but all of Europe. It's all the home of The Vatican..

RV Road Trip Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia on Cabot Trail | Solo Women RV Travel Blog
I spent several weeks traveling through New Brunswick, Canada then to Nova Scotia, Canada and then taking an RV road trip clockwise around Cape Breton Island on the infamous Cabot Trail. I had the best time on this rv road trip seeing all the cliffs and ocean and Cabot Trail hugging the coast line. It couldn't have been any more perfect. Cape Breton isn't the fastest Island to get to in Canada from the United States, but it's well worth the trip! I can't wait to go back. Thank you Canada for the 2017 annual Canada 150 Year anniversary pass as well!
