Dublin, Ireland, walking tour
Ireland is best known as a land of quaint villages, friendly people and wild natural beauty but there is another side to this emerald isle -- the urban charms of Dublin.

This convivial capital is truly a fascinating place with warm, sociable people, lovely architecture, excellent museums, great pubs, varied restaurants, endless entertainment and the most popular attraction, Guinness, in the pubs and at their storehouse display.
We'll start out with three main areas south of the river Liffey: Trinity College, St. Stephen's Green and Temple bar. And then up to pedestrian shopping street, and of course out to the Guinness Storehouse.
Trinity College is one of the world’s great schools and a leading attraction, with more than half a million visitors each year. People come to see the graceful campus with its wonderful collection of historic buildings and gardens arranged in a harmonious setting spanning 35 acres.
We'll see Temple Bar, Dublin's most popular gathering spot. Temple Bar is the nightlife center of town, a great place for a stroll, perhaps have a pint and catch some traditional music.
Beer-lovers must visit the Guinness Storehouse where you can learn all about the brewing of that wonderful dark stout and enjoy some fresh samples. It is the country's most popular tourist attraction with 1.5 million annual visitors. The actual brewery is one block over, and is off-limits to visitors, but this impressive showcase presents very entertaining, high-tech multimedia displays that tell the whole story in a fun way.
Hiking at Killiney Hill Dublin Ireland
Hiking at Killiney Hill Dublin Ireland
Killiney Hill (Irish: Cnoc Chill Iníon Léinín) is the southernmost of the two hills which form the southern boundary of Dublin Bay (the other being Dalkey Hill). Crowned by an obelisk, the hill is 153 metres high and has views over the surrounding areas: Dublin to the northwest; the Irish Sea and the mountains of Wales (on a clear day) to the east and southeast; and Bray Head and the Wicklow Mountains to the south. The hill was higher in the past but material was removed from the summit for the construction of the pier at Dún Laoghaire.

Day 1 - Walking Around Ireland | From Dublin to the Wicklow Way
I am hiking from Dublin to the Great Blasket Islands in Co. Kerry. I will be sleeping in a tent and it will take approx 30 days to complete the 600km+ journey. Most of this trail is known as “Coast to Coast” but I have always had a fascination and urge to pitch my tent on the Great Blasket Island which is why I will head north upon reaching Killarney.
And in case you might be asking yourself, I am walking to the Great Blasket Islands because I really enjoy walking.

Day 3 - Walking Ireland | Visiting Glendalough | Walking Coast to Coast From Dublin to Kerry
After dropping down from the mountains, I spent some time visiting Glendalough.
As you may know, when visiting Glendalough, you just have to see the monastic site. However, the upper lake is always the true highlight when visiting Glendalough in the Wicklow Mountains.

City Walks: Dublin, Ireland in the old town center - virtual walking treadmill video
City Walks: Dublin, Ireland in the old town center virtual walking treadmill video
See our other Channel for Family Travel --- ----
ON a fine September morning we take a walk across the River Liffey and over into the Temple Bar section of the old town center and up to Christ Church Cathedral. Then over to Dublin Castle, on to St. Stephen's Green, through Trinity College, and back to O'Connel St.
Dublin is an amazing place, full of history, architecture, and pubs. The foods not to bad either though hotels and accommodation is a bit expensive. I had several pints of Guinness while there but also tried several other Irish beers which were even better. As far as food and what to eat goes, my favorite was Irish Stew and also Lamb. I lucked out on the weather and our several days there were all sunny to partly cloudy but it can get rainy.
There's a bit more talking in this one and I apologize for the bumpy gimbal. It broke literally seconds after I pushed stop on the camera. I think I have it fixed now and hope to get a couple more towns and cities before we leave Ireland. I hope you enjoy this free walking tour Dublin.
Dublin, capital of the Republic of Ireland, is on Ireland’s east coast at the mouth of the River Liffey. Its historic buildings include Dublin Castle, dating to the 13th century, and imposing St Patrick’s Cathedral, founded in 1191. City parks include landscaped St Stephen’s Green and huge Phoenix Park, containing Dublin Zoo. The National Museum of Ireland explores Irish heritage and culture.
There are a lot of short tours of ireland that leave from dublin and other guided tours of ireland.
Headed to #TBEXIreland. Hoping TourismIreland will pick this one up and share it.

Best Day Hike Near Dublin: Walking Trails of Glendalough
Wicklow Mountain National Park is the perfect day trip from Dublin for nature and day hiking. We rented a car and drove the 1 hour to the gorgeous Glendalough valley with a few friends for a lovely day hike.
We hiked the White Trail: Spinc and Glenealo Valley. It’s an 11 kilometer (6.84 miles) roundtrip hike from the Visitor’s Center Lower Lake. The trail passes the Poulanass Waterfall then steeply ascends 600 wooden stairs. The climb is definitely worth the panoramic views of Glendalough Upper Lake along the wooden plank boardwalk at the top.
It can be fairly strenuous, so make sure you bring some water and snacks and hike within your limits.
Our biggest lesson learned included: the weather in Ireland is fickle and changes constantly. Dress in layers, bring a rain jacket, and try not to let the weather faze you. Seriously, during the pouring rain, Irish families were beginning their hike from the other direction.

Wild Camping in the Dublin Mountains | Microadventure Ireland
Another Microadventure in Ireland and this time on top of Tibradden in the Dublin Mountains.
Background: My brother dropped me in the mountains tonight. It rained pretty hard as I walked the rest of the way up here but that made my piping-hot pasta bolognese taste even better at camp. I love camping so much and the sound of the rain beating off the fly sheet as I lay here reading a book. I'll walk down the mountain at sunrise and back to my brothers house for some toast and a cup of Barry's Tea.
It rained hard for most of the night but I fell asleep pretty early and only woke because of the many deer outside the tent. After packing everything up, I sat next to an ancient “fairy castle” at the top of the mountain and finished off the remains of a donut from the previous night. It was absolutely still and silent by now, and quite warm in spite of the foggy conditions. It took three hours to walk back down the mountain but only because I had to inspect every tree, river and stone along the way. I’m now enjoying a nice cup of Barry's Tea - it really is the little things that make me feel alive”
Just so you know, next week I will begin walking across Ireland on “The Great Blasket Trail”.

SOLO BACKPACKING EUROPE | Galway & Dublin, Ireland (2018)
I recently quit my job to solo backpack around Europe for two months. I realized that there is more to life than working 40+ hours a week and the best way to grow and learn is to experience it through travel.
My third stop brought me to Ireland where I explored the cities of Galway and Dublin from November 21-28. I absolutely fell in love with Ireland. The landscape was beautiful and the people were warm and welcoming. I was able to take a day trip to the Cliffs of Mohr which was one of the highlights of the trip so far.
