HIKING AROUND OSLO // Guided hike w/ epic views and a cold swim | Oslo, Norway
I went on a hiking tour with Viking Biking (not sponsored, I paid for my own tour ☺️) because I had a few days to myself in Oslo, Norway and wanted to see more than just the city. Besides, a tour is a GREAT way to not be alone, do something fun, get a workout, and meet awesome people.
It worked! I even hung out with two people from the tour after it was over and we went to the Sculpture Garden.
There are a couple of funny bits and you just have to watch the whole thing to see them!

Hiking in Oslo: Hammeren to Ullevålseter
Great hiking opportunities are just a short bus ride from downtown Oslo. A one-hour walk into the vast forest of Nordmarka that surrounds Oslo is Ullevålseter.
Ullevålseter is an old shieling/farm in the forest north of Oslo which has been converted into a ski lodge. It's a popular destination for hiking or trekking, both summer and winter. There is a cafe which serves refreshments and traditional Norwegian cakes.
The trip in this video starts at Hammeren in Maridalen. Bus 51 which goes from Nydalen in Oslo stops at Hammeren. We walked the gravel path past Skjærsjøen lake to Ullevålseter. It's also possible to take this road by bicycle, but motor vehicles are prohibited.
From Ullevålseteren we went back the same way, but it's possible to take other paths which will take you to Sognsvann or Frognersetern in Oslo.
If you want to walk only downwards, you can start by taking the metro (T-bane) to Frognerseteren. Then walk to Ullevålseteren, and then down to Hammeren from there.
For navigation, Google Maps on a mobile phone works great. Just enter navigation by foot to Ullevålseter in Maps.

Hiking in Oslo - Norway Travel Vlog
In this second part of our Oslo trip, we went hiking in Kolsastoppen and then went to Holmenskollen, the famous ski jump that was used during the Oslo Olympics. We raced to see if we could go down and up all the steps in less than 2 minutes! See how we did!

BEST HIKE IN NORWAY ? - BESSEGGEN | twoplustwocrew
BEST HIKE IN NORWAY ? - BESSEGGEN | twoplustwocrew
We walked the famous Besseggen Walk in Norway.... stunning no wonder it's one of National Geographics top 20 hikes. Long day but definitely a great family experience.
We were staying at nearby Beitostolen and drove 20 mins to catch the early morning ferry (7.45am) to the mid way point of the walk and walk back the carpark.
So you either catch the ferry in or catch the ferry back as the walk takes 5 to 8 hours depending on your group. As we had small children in our group we wanted it to be quite relaxing and stop for plenty of meal breaks. It took us 7.5 hours.
TripAdvisor Jackiedan says and I agree:
This is one outstanding hike. There are several ways to do it depending on how long you wish to walk, whether you wish to camp etc...
If you have two days to spare and wish to do a fair amount of walking, i would suggest the following:
Day 1:
Arrive at Gjendesheim (by rental car if you have one) in the mid morning. Leave the car and take a small back pack with food, warm clothes and anything needed for 1 night away. Follow the signposted routes up the mountain. You will start walking uphill immediately. The uphill lasts for around 2 or 3 hours. Once at the top, you walk flat until going back down again. The views are outstanding. Follow signs for Memurubu which is where you'll spend the evening. It is a fairly large tourist hut which provides an evening meal (very substantial and hearty) and breakfast. The whole walk from Gjendesheim to Memurubu will take between 6 and 8 hours.
Day 2:
You can either take the boat back from Memurubu to Gjendesheim, walk back the way you came or walk along the shores of the lake. We chose the latter. It takes about 3 or 4 hours and is a mostly flat, simple path. It is extremely picturesque!

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the #travel bug! We started “travel hacking” & finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this YouTube channel to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling! So we extended our 1 year trip to now FOUR years :) Now we have a goal of traveling to 100 countries before 2020! We are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :) #travelvlog #oslo #norway

HIKING IN NORWAY: THE PILGRIM'S ROUTE FROM OSLO TO NIDAROS - WALKING 700 KM OF ANCIENT TRAILS
FREE EBOOKLET These historic trails have been used by pilgrims and travellers since the year 1032.
In this video we join our parents, for two days only, on their 5 week journey through Norway's mountains, valleys, towns and farmlands. The surroundings are so beautiful, pristine and almost fairy tale like. The particular stretch in the video is through Gudbrandsdalen from Lillehammer to Tretten.
The St. Olav Ways are a network of paths through the country, and The Gudbrandsdalen Path, Gudbrandsdalsleden in Norwegian, is the longest route and was the main way to Trondheim (Nidros) during the middle ages. This route is also known as The King's Way.
The trail visits several historic places on the way as you walk through natural surroundings and agricultural landscapes. The whole path has been marked with the pilgrim logo so it's easy to follow all the way. This is no doubt one of the most beautiful pilgrimage routes in Europe!
Enjoy the video along with the beautiful melodies of Edvard Grieg's Morning Mood and In The Hall Of The Mountain King, part of the classic play Peer Gynt.
Filmed using GoPro Hero2 camera, in full HD, 1080p.

På Norsk (In Norwegian) :
Pilegrimsleden, også kjent som St. Olavsvegene til Trondheim, er et nettverk av veier som alle leder til Nidarosdomen der Olav den Hellige ligger gravlagt. I denne videoen ser vi noen klipp fra Gudbrandsdalsleden. Dette er den lengste av dem alle og var hovedvegen til Nidaros (Trondheim) i middelalderen. Her har pilegrimer vandret i mange år.

EXPLORING OSLO, walking around the beautiful capital of NORWAY ????
SUBSCRIBE: - Oslo (Norway), a walking tour. Vic Stefanu, vstefanu@yahoo.com. Oslo, the capital of Norway, sits on the country’s southern coast at the head of the Oslofjord, and is known for its citywide green spaces and museums. Many of these are on the Bygdøy peninsula, including the Norwegian Maritime Museum, the Vikingskipshuset, with ships from the 10th century, and the Norsk Folkemuseum, with artifacts from Sami and Viking cultures.
Norway is a Scandinavian country encompassing mountains, glaciers and deep coastal fjords. Oslo, the capital, is a city of green spaces and museums. Preserved 9th-century Viking ships are displayed at Oslo’s Viking Ship Museum. Bergen, with colorful wooden houses, is the starting point for cruises to the dramatic Sognefjord. Norway is also known for fishing, hiking and skiing, notably at Lillehammer’s Olympic resort.
