HIKING IN BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA - The heart of the Balkans
Subtitles in French, Bosnian and Spanish.
From our memories and the media, we mostly think of Bosnia and Herzegovina as a country at war, of Sarajevo as a city under siege... Believe us today this country has multiple facets to show and a lot to offer.
We discovered warm and generous people everwhere we've been, gorgeous and mighty mountains from Blidinje to Bjelašnica, without forgetting Prenj, the Bosnian Himalayas... Lukomir, the highest village of the country was a fantastic experience. Hiking this part of the Via Dinarica in winter wasn't easy, it was a real challenge but we made it!
Sarajevo is a fascinating city where so many cultures and influences meet. It is the evidence of the country and region complicated History.
In some way, we fell in love with Bosnia and Herzegovina!

We tried Bosnian Food:
- Bosnian Coffee
- Imam Baildi
- Veggie Platter
- Hurmasica
The next day we headed out to see the Dervish house at Blagaj which was a major spot for us to finally see :)

Bosnia was more amazing than I anticipated and after spending a little over a week in the country, I fell in love. From right off of the Croatian ferry in Ploce, my hitchhiking journey in Bosnia officially began. My driver wanted to stop in Medugorje so why not join. It's a small village where 6 children had claimed to see an apparition of the Virgin Mary. What was a small town is now a big tourist attraction and religious site.
After getting dropped off in Mostar I roamed around the city famous for it's Ottoman Bridge, Stari Most. Originally built 400 years, it was destroyed in 1993, But fortunately rebuilt in 2004 looking just as beautiful as the original. Mostar saw much destruction during the war which in some places, can be seen today. But most of the city has been rebuilt bringing tourists from all over the world. Additional places to see in the area, is Blagaj Tekke, an old Dervish monastery sitting besides a spring and within a mountain side as well as a fortress above of the same name with amazing views of the valley and mountains.
Hitchhiking north brought me through the
gorgeous Dinaric mountains. I stopped in the small town of Jablanica to see a bridge destroyed in WW2 by the Yugoslav partisan led by Tito that helped deter attacks from the Axis powers. My next stop was an overnight stay on Jablanica lake in one of my favorite Airbnb's to date in camper turned bedroom with a small kitchen. Here I had a rowboat to use with the lake all to myself, listening to good music on my phone and taking it all in.
From here, I hitched a ride to Konjic, a small town with more locals than tourists, a beautiful Ottoman bridge and an awesome host who took me into his home offering a local homemade drink. My final city was Bosnia's capital, Sarajevo.
Sarajevo saw it's share of dark days during the Bosnian War, with sniper fire and mortar shelling killing many people. I stopped at the Markale Market where twice, mortar shells killed and injured many people. As well as one of many cemeteries where I lost my emotions due to all of the tombstones that stand. But the city has progressed as a modern city with a beautiful city center with many cafes, a bazaar, commercial city center, and lots of tourism. I also managed to stand in the very spot where Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated igniting WW1.
To wrap up my time in Bosnia, I made it priority to go up to several viewpoints in the hills and mountains. Yellow Bastion and the historic now abandoned White Fortress overlooking the city and beyond. The best views are from Trebević where you can walk up the abandoned luge track from the 1984 Winter Olympics up to the view over the whole city.
After an incredible voyage in Bosnia, I returned to Croatia for the third and final time to Dubrovnik. :)

WHY YOU NEED TO VISIT MOSTAR, BOSNIA (travel guide)
Of all the places I’ve traveled, Mostar in Bosnia, Herzegovina took me by surprise and stole my heart! With cobblestone streets, old medieval buildings, and its beautiful bridge overlooking emerald waters, this place looks like a fairytale and deserves a visit!
Mostar was one of the most heavily bombed cities during the Bosnian war which was a conflict that raged between 1992 and 1995. It was a war of genocide, the first since wwII, and it killed hundreds of thousands, and displaced milions of people. The city is now a UNESCO World Heritage site and it’s gone through a series of detailed reconstruction projects to preserve the historic core and authenticity.

Bosnia & Herzegovina - Land of Wonders
Bosnia-Herzegovina is a place to discover. After two weeks of traveling in the country, I realized that Bosnia-Herzegovina is much more than a former Yugoslav Republic, dating its history back to the 12th century. The combination of overwhelming natural attractions and warm, hospitable people make Bosnia-Herzegovina quite an interesting place to visit and explore. The different religious creeds and social mixture give another point of interest to this country from the cultural and sociologic standpoints. Don’t miss the impressive waterfalls in Jajce and Kravice and enjoy the cosmopolitan ambience of Mostar and Sarajevo. History and modern life; art, religion and culture; you will find it all in Bosnia-Herzegovina. Take your time to enjoy and learn a bit more about this Balkan country, definitely a land of wonders. Footage taken in August 2017.

EVENTFUL DAY IN MOSTAR || Bosnia and Herzegovina Vlog
#mostar #travelvlog #visitbosnia
Today I explore Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina. I had an incredible day walking around this old town. I loved learning about the history of this town. I spend the first part of the day exploring on my own around the Mostar Bridge, then I sample a traditional dish. I end the day with an incredible walking tour where I had the privilege of learning about the war from someone who experienced it. Most of this isn't in the video as I have missing footage, but I had to mention it. It was one of the most enlightening days of my travels so far.

DANGEROUS Travel Experience in BOSNIA & HERZEGOVINA...
Welcome to this budget travel series of adventure and kindness, through the Balkan countries. Apo from Around the Good World is traveling the around the Balkans, having only 200€ in his pocket for 2 months!
On this episode, I left Sarajevo the capital of Bosnia & Herzegovina for Mostar again. I stayed at Mario's couchsurfing house there and I also met Irfan who showed me around and did my laundry! After 2 days, I started hitchhiking my way to Montenegro. Let's say that it wasn't that easy to hitchhike on that route, so I had to sleep in a football field, at a random village before next day that finally arrived close to the border and decided to take the bus from there, all the way to Kotor. It was inside the bus station, when this incident with this drunk guy happened and destroyed my mood, to arrive some hours later in Kotor...

Bosnia Travel Vlog Summer 2015
Went to Bosnia with 2 friends of mine and here is the very late video of what happened there, they left me alone later on but I decided not to include those clips in the video because my relatives are in most of them.
We went on a car roadtrip and visited Mostar, Kravice (the waterfalls), Blagaj Tekija and a lot of other places that I can't remember the names of and of course we were in the capital Sarajevo and also Kiseljak as that is where my house in Bosnia is located and last but not least we also went to Prokosko Jezero.
Also, I did zero color editing which shows that it was really beautiful (eventhough it looked even more beautiful in real life)

Mostar, Bosnia Walking Tour | You Must See To Believe It
Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina was an interesting place to visit on a day trip from Dubrovnik. We had Bosnian food at a Mostar restaurants and it was a great reflection on a true Bosnian meal or the traditional Bosnian dishes. The famous Mostar bridge is Stari Most Bridge. There is a Stari Most Bridge Jump you can watch if you are there at the right time. This walking tour will be like a Mostar travel guide to visiting Mostar. The Mostar Bridge jump took a long time to happen but we had some nice Bosnian cuisine while we waited. We hope you enjoy this walking tour.
