Day 1| BEST TREK Around KATHMANDU | Awesome Day of EPIC ft Wanderlust Himalaya Adventures
Trekking in Nepal. I wanted to squeeze in a short trek around Kathmandu. I did the Kopasi- Balthali- Namobuddha-Dhulikhel trek with Wanderlust Himalaya Adventures. It’s one of the best hikes near Kathmandu and it was such an awesome trekking day in Nepal. It is a popular two day trek around Kathmandu Valley. Our start is located 2 hours east of downtown Kathmandu. Our first day's goal ends in Dhulikhel.
I did a shout out to my good friend Nabaraj, who runs his own trekking and tour company. He gave me a customized tour so I could film the valley and village life- I love filming human stories. I wanted epic scenery but also wanted to see village culture and lifestyles. But this trek surpassed my wildest expectations and you’ll see why.
Trivia: initially Nabaraj sold me my very first trekking tour a decade ago when he was just 19 years old and worked for another company. I’m honored to be taking one of his Kathmandu trekking tours! My first trek was Bhaktapur to Nagarkot, which is another top trek around Kathmandu as well.

Composed of a unique blend of nature and culture, Nepal has what it takes to be the perfect place to gain a class apart experience of traveling. While treks and expeditions allow you to enjoy the unique features of Nepal in a longer time frame, one-day tours are the quick intros to the country. Day tour in Nepal is one of the best ways to explore and experience the cultural and natural richness of this country. There are numerous natural and cultural heritages along with viewpoints and adventure sports one can opt for in such day tours.
Day tours can take you for a wonderful journey that will allow you to experience any of these features of Nepal. Day tours around cities such as Kathmandu, Lumbini, Pokhara, and Chitwan offer you an opportunity to explore their respective heritages. In Kathmandu, you can take a day tour to visit the various cultural sites of this city. There are seven UNESCO world heritage sites located in Kathmandu valley itself and three outside the valley. Taking a cultural day tour around Kathmandu valley will allow you to witness sites such as Kathmandu Durbar Square, Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Patan Durbar Square, Boudhanath, Swayambhunath, and Pashupatinath. In Lumbini, you can visit the birthplace of Lord Buddha and explore the archeologically significant destinations as well. Similarly, you can opt for a jungle safari in the dense jungles of Chitwan National park and enjoy the company of some of the world’s rarest wildlife species. Finally, Pokhara which is also known as the City of Lakes also has numerous destinations to tour. From the International Mountaineering Museum to Davis Falls and World Peace Pagoda to Phewa Lake, there are simply innumerable sites to visit. Similarly, Palpa and Bandipur are also excellent destinations for one day tours.
Some of the most popular cultural 1-day tours in Nepal are Kathmandu Day Tour, Pokhara City Tour, and Lumbini Tour among many others. Apart from cultural tours, you can also go on hikes to nearby vantage points and grab a marvelous view of the diverse terrain that makes the land of Nepal so unique. Some of the most popular hiking choices are Nagarkot sunrise/sunset hike, Nagarjun Day Hike, and Sarangkot Hike to name a few. Lastly, you can opt for adventurous activities that are available in many parts of the country. Adventurous activities include rafting, bungee jumping, paragliding, mountain flights, cycling, etc.
Day tours in Nepal are family-friendly activities that can be done by anyone. You can opt for these tours alone, with friends or with family, including children. But certain activities from the adventurous activities section are not recommended for all. You can take city tours almost any time of the year but hiking is recommended during spring and autumn season. Similarly, mountain flights, cycling, rafting, and other adventurous activities are best to be done during clear weather which generally falls during spring, autumn, or winter.
Trekking in Nepal Himalaya - Jiri to Everest Base Camp trek in Nepal
Everest base camp trekking in Nepal from Jiri trail was taken by Tenzing and Hilary to climb Mount Everest in 1953, and We did Everest base camp Trek and Kalapather trek taking the same trail in December 2014 with a group of friends/clients from Canada, Australia, UK and Ireland. We were planning to do all three passes trek, Everest base camp, Kalapather, Gokyo trek but it was snowing for 2 days so the passes got closed then we turn to do only Everest base camp and Kalapatther from the normal route.
Trekking in the Everest region starts either from the town of Jiri, accessible from Kathmandu by bus or private jeep, or from Lukla, a short flight from Kathmandu.
If you have a limited amount of time, then it is best to fly into Lukla from Kathmandu (although in order to avoid altitude sickness you will still need a minimum of 2 weeks to trek to Everest Base Camp and Kalapathar). But if you have the time it is well worth spending an extra week by walking in, which will give you ample time to improve your fitness and acclimatize for the high mountain trails. You will also enjoy the opportunity of getting off the beaten track and following in the footsteps of the early mountaineers on the old expedition route.

TREKKING IN NEPAL HIMALAYAS - EVEREST BASE CAMP TREKKING - DAY 1 | KATHMANDU TO NAMCHE BAZZAR
TREKKING IN NEPAL HIMALAYAS - This is the 4th day of my MOUNT EVEREST BASE CAMP TREKKING, but officially the first day as I reached to LUKLA late by 3 days. I reached to Lukla around 11 AM from Kathmandu by Sita Air which was about 30 minutes of flight. Luka Airport is considered one of the most dangerous airports in the world.
I started my journey by praying at the Big Buddha Statue which is at the top Hill , right above the Tenzing-Hillary airport of Lukla.
BREAKFAST IN LUKLA
People say food in Himalaya is expensive but not yet. In Lukla I ate two eggs, one thukpa Himalayan noodle and tea which cost me a total of 2.2 US$. The cost of one water bottle of 1 liter is 1$.
PASS CHECK FOR SAGARMATHA NATIONAL PARK
If you are foreigner you need a pass, since I have a Nepal passport, I don't need any pass or entry permit. There is a checkpoint or you can buy also it will cost you 20US$.
BEAUTIFUL SCENERIES
On the way, you will explore beautiful sceneries, green big moutains, waterfalls, Tibetan stupas, Buddhist maane, which are you supposed to turn from right to left. You will see Buddhiest holy mantra inscribed in all big stones with black and white.
PHAKDING
After about 3 hours of trekking, you will reach Phakding. The height of this place is around 2650 meters. All the tourist are supposed to stay here for acclimatization. But I can't afford this day because some of my friend who flew already by helicopter are waiting for me in Namche. So I must keep walking. But please you don't do that.
Manjo, Solukumbu
After one hour of trekking from Phakding , you will reach Manjo, again beautiful landscape in the foothill of Himalayas. One could also plan to stay here for acclimatization instead of Phakding.
Jorselle, Solukhumbu
The last village you will find before Namche Bazaar is Jorselle. There are around 20-25 houses. You can also make your night stay here, it is almost at the bank of the river. One could hear very well the strong current of river. I kept walking further thought it was already very late.
After Jorselle it's steep up till Namche which is at 3440 meters.
JORSELLE TO NAMCHE BAZZAR
It was already dark before I started climbing the Namche hill. This is one of the difficult for climbers since it's steep up. There is one famous and beautiful two suspension bridge one above other, you see that scene in EVEREST MOVIE which was released in 2016. It had got so dark by the time I reached there. But by the grace of god, I met few potters boys there and I hiked up till Namche with them. They don't have torch light but I still surprise how could they climb there in dark, in the jungle without light.
I almost died, my energy has all finished and it was a bit scary too since everything is new for me. I know nothing. All I wanted is somehow to climb up. Believe, Hardwork and consisitent, I reached to Namche at night to the place where I was planning to reach. I got dog bite too on the way.

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the travel bug! We started “travel hacking” and taking more trips together and finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and travel hacking over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this YouTube channel to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling. So we extended our 1 year trip to THREE years :) Now we have a goal of traveling to 100 countries before 2020! We are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)

12 Days Everest Base Camp Trek 2017, Our journey through the himalayas :)
This video is about my everest base camp trek (EBC) journey done over 12 days starting on the 7th of April from Kathmandu. I recorded the total steps walked on my fitbit, the heights we reached and the activities we did daily.
I did the hike with my mum and brother and we hired the porter and guide service from a trek shop owner who we know in Kathamandu. The service was charged on a daily basis, which we settled in between and at the end of our trek, and we paid a-la-carte for our accomodation and food to the hotels.
We didn't really train for this trek, as it was quite spontaneous (like most Nepalese things ), we planned it in less than 2 weeks, but we are all generally fit (I hike at least 2 times a month, my bro gyms and my mum walks everywhere, literally).
My brother came to Hong Kong from Sydney (I live in hk) and we flew together to Nepal where we met our mum. She had purchased all the necessities we needed such as sleeping bags, water bags, water tablets etc.
Such a fun adventure to appreciate my homeland. Nepal truly is a beauty, and the Himalayas; it's crowning jewel!
The camera and equipments I used were:
1) xiaomi gopro camera =
2) Waterproof housing case=
3) xiaomi stick like this=
4) Samsung Galaxy S6edge mobile phone (but now I upgraded to S10 and its amazing!)
5) Fit bit Alta HR (to count my steps and heartrate)
6) AND POWERBANK!!! so important! (because electricity is scarce up there, you have to pay extra to charge your items) so charge up and take as many as poss
I wish I had : a solar powered power bank might be handy too =
And lots more chocolates to distribute to kids and other local people we met.
Some common ques i get asked , thought I'd put it here to make it easier:
-???? the weather in April was great; it was around 15~ 20 degrees when we started, when we got to tengboche 4000m (day 5~6) , the temp drops to around -3 in the morn but still sunny and hot during the day so good to layer off, gorak shep is the coldest -10, and while coming down it's hot again. So in total around 6 days of really freezing weather when suns down.
- $$ (all in nepalese rupees) We bought our own plane tickets to lukla and paid alacarte per day rate to our guide (rps 2000) and porter (rps 1500) as they were recomemded by our friends, the food cost around rps 1500~2000 per day, the accomodation is free if you eat your meal at the lodge. in total was rps 56k per person
- ????♀️ To prepare, you need to hike, walk and exercise and just be generally fit. Best is to hike every week for a few months to get familiar to walking and hiking. In this trek you're hiking up and down for 4 to 6 hrs a day so your stamina is gotta be good. But you walk pretty slowly and take plenty of rest so it's not a massive problem if you're not super athletic. I saw many older mature people as well as young children in this trek.
My recommendations of things to take with you from personal experience:
3 tops /tsirts (can be gym tops)
2 thin long sleeve tops for uv protection
2 long tights /hiking toursers that can be shorts too
2 high necks (from day 6)
1 windproof jacket (from day 5 )
1 thigh down jacket (day 7 and 8)
1 windproof and waterproof hiking trousers (day 7 to 9)
1 hoodie
2 thermal pants (from day 6 to 9)
1 glove and glove liner with phone touch finger tip thingy (to take photos without hand being cold)
1 cap /beenie
2 neck cover /warmer (the thin round one that goes around ur neck...you need this to put over your nose for the dust while hiking)
towel
water camel back
underwears and socks
other things :
pantyliner
wet wipes
water tablets
hydralite
meds
snacks (mars bars )
hand warmers
lip balm
tissue packs

Hiking In Nepal: Mohare Danda Trek In The Annapurna Himalayan Range
Have you ever gone hiking in Nepal?
Trekking in Nepal is an epic bucket list adventure. Recently, I got to do the Mohare Danda Trek in the Annapurna Himalayan Range.
This 5-day trek is is a stunning alternative to the more popular Poon Hill Trek. Honestly, I didn't see a single other hiker outside of my own trekking group.
I saw animals, high peaks -- like Fishtail Mountain, Annapurna Massif and Annapurna 2 -- and got to stay in local teahouses and homestays in remote places rarely accessed my tourists.
How cool is that?
*A big thanks to the Nepal Tourism Board and the Pacific Asia Travel Association for sponsoring my trip!
The drive to Pokhara from Kathmandu is long and bumpy but as city transforms into countryside I'm reminded of the journey ahead. Pokhara is a hippy city with conscious cafes, crystal shops and active adventures around Phewa lake, building my excitement for the Mohare Danda Trek ahead.
The trek, an off the beaten path five day hike through the Annapurna Himalayas begins three hours away in Jaleshwar.
Day one is three hours straight up hill to our teahouse accommodation in Bhaskar though the beautiful mountain views keep me going.
Day two is even harder with seven hours uphill but that's the price you pay to play in the clouds. With every set of stairs comes another view and we meet four-legged friends and locals along the way. We go up and down past giant boulders and through villages stopping for lunch with a view and a fun game of Carrom board before continuing on to Nangi village for the night. Views of Nepal's high peaks including Annapurna too enhance the stay.
Day three is another seven hours uphill. We enter Alpine forests with a new pup companion named Seto and head farther up into the clouds toward our goal destination Mohare Danda. The views along the way are some of my favorite of the whole trek. It's so stunning the rain doesn't even bother me and at three p.m we arrived at 3300 meters with high peak views, worth it.
On day four we begin descending towards Tikot village. While I love the trail animals there is a unwanted guest, leeches prevalent during monsoon season. We quickly scramble over rocks and through mud to avoid them though the mountains distract me. Along the way our porters find the rare Gasagomba, a caterpillar fungus that's also an aphrodisiac. Down and down we go past buffalo and streams and into fairy-tale woodland spilling out into wide open spaces until we reach Tikot. Momos and Chomain provide necessary fuel for exploring this adorable high altitude village.
As if the trek never happened we're on our final steep day five descent. I forget the physical pain of the trek focusing on gratitude, grateful to have gotten to hike through Nepal's Annapurna Himalayas. I cross the final bridge and wave the mountains goodbye. Alright, super sweaty just finished the Mohare Danda Trek in Nepal. Five days, over 22 hours of hiking and over 3300 meters in altitude.
A lot of fun but really hard.

Spent the last 2 weeks of March 2018 in Nepal. The first week trekking upward between the Himalayas, and the next week visiting 6 children's homes in Kathmandu to conduct workshops teaching kids basic health and sanitation practices. I was volunteering with NAFA, an NGO that my friend, Victoria, helped start that enriches the nutritional status of the unparented children in Nepal, treating malnutrition and malabsorption.
If you’re interested to learn more/find out ways to contribute to these kids, check out or @nafanepal on IG for more info.
The mountainous region seen in the first half of this video, Langtang, has a growing plastic crisis largely due to the earthquake of 2015. To learn more about Sam’s project to overcome this issue, check out its gofundme page at
