ABOUT THIS VLOG:
➡ It's finally time for a Madeira adventure. We have seven days lined up, where we will explore as much as possible of this beautiful island. Our first stop is Funchal, the main city of Madeira, where we are staying for two nights. On our first day we explore Funchal, where we dive into the old town as well as the cable car to Monte.
We immediately fell in love with Funchal and it surprised us how charming and beautiful this city actually is. Located on a volcanic mountain the city has a unique foundation that gives it a dreamy design unlike any other city except maybe Cape Town in South Africa.
Suffice to say two days is not enough in Funchal, as this city has more than 100.000 people with lots of cultural depth and history.

In our tour of the most beautiful and accessible places Madeira wheelchair, we found Funchal, the capital, distributed as if the stands of a large theater whose stage is located in the Atlantic.
The historic center of Funchal is convenient to meander in a wheelchair, although some sections may need help, so, as always, I recommend you traveling unaccompanied.
In the video the places I have personally tested and enjoyed by Funchal and so I recommend them appear.
In the video the two hotels we stayed, both overlooking the sea and some also appear off-center. The bathrooms are well suited. They have also been tested and enjoyed by me personally.
We have included restaurants (one of them inside a hotel, also adapted although not personally seen) where we had dinner and are accessible entrances, but not all have adapted bathrooms. All have excellent gastronomy and have been tested by me personally.

Funchal is the capital of the Atlantic island of Madeira and is situated in a natural, picturesque bay, surrounded by steep mountain slopes. With churches, palaces, mansions, museums and magnificent gardens, it is a city of both character and history. The Palacio De São Lourenço is the town’s oldest fort and was one of the defences that surrounded Funchal from the seventeenth to the nineteenth century. Pirates repeatedly attacked the growing town thus its inhabitants were forced to protect it as best they could. Madeira is famous for its wine which has been exported around the world for hundreds of years and in the old rooms of a former monastery, it is pressed, stored and celebrated. The upper town is considered to be the most vibrant part of the city. The adjoining monastery church is in fine Mudejar style. Its walls are colorfully tiled from top to bottom, which emphasizes the oriental nature of the building. The Jardim Botanico is located on a hillside above Funchal and once belonged to the Reid Family. With more than two thousand exotic plants from all over the world it is a garden of earthly pleasures. Not surprisingly, stunning beauty, pulsating life and the serenity of its charming people have continued to make Funchal a major tourist destination.
