Places to see in ( Denver - USA )
Places to see in ( Denver - USA )
Denver, the capital of Colorado, is an American metropolis dating to the Old West era. Larimer Square, the city’s oldest block, features landmark 19th-century buildings. Museums include the Denver Art Museum, an ultramodern complex known for its collection of indigenous works, and the mansion of famed Titanic survivor Molly Brown. Denver is also a jumping-off point for ski resorts in the nearby Rocky Mountains.
Denver is a vibrant city with plenty of attractions for visitors, plus a diverse collection of neighborhoods that can be attractions in themselves. Many of Denver's older areas are the perfect density for exploration; you'll find an interesting mix of apartments and homes with flowery front gardens, wide flagstone sidewalks, bright green lawns and big, shady trees. Capitol Hill, Highlands, Baker, Berkeley, Uptown, Sloan's Lake, Cheesman, Washington, City and Congress Parks are just some of the neighborhoods bustling with people and places to see.
Denver has many beautiful parks that are full of colorful gardens, meandering paths, crystal clear lakes, abundant wildlife and recreation opportunities. The city has a rich pioneer history, and there are plenty of museums where you can learn all about it. It's also a very environmentally conscious city, with one of the nation’s first municipal “Green Fleets”, public transit vehicles using hybrid and alternative fuel and a city tree-planting initiative. Hop on a green bus, grab a bike or just walk around to discover Denver.
Thanks to a re-urbanization of the city's central core, Denver now has name-worthy neighborhoods with flavors that are all their own – River North (RiNo) for hipster bars and eye-catching street art, Lower Highlands (LoHi) and South Broadway for great eateries and live music, Cherry Creek for glam, Lower Downtown (LoDo) for upscale restaurants and cocktail lounges as well as the Golden Triangle and Santa Fe for arts, theater and museums. In all, there's a neighborhood and a vibe for just about anybody.

A tour of Denver's historic Paramount Theatre
Denver's Paramount Theatre was built by Temple Buell for Publix Theatres in 1930. The Paramount Theatre instantly surpassed the standards of the dozens of theatres that lined the streets of Denver at the time and is the only local theatre from that era that's maintained its original dignity and glamour - it's an excellent illustration of Art Deco design and craftsmanship from that age of theatres.
Denver's Paramount Theatre is also home to the Mighty Wurlitzer Theatre Pipe Organ, one of the last three remaining organs of its kind to reside in its original environment. Throughout this recording you can hear the pipe organ and, at about 0:57 get a glimpse of it being played off in the distance on the stage.

Colorado State Capitol Building Denver, CO
Denver, CO - A quick video tour of the Colorado State Capital Building. The Capitol building was designed by Elijah E. Myers, and its construction lasted from 1886 through 1901. The Colorado Capitol was designed on an axis in the form of a Greek cross and resembles the basic design of the nation’s Capitol in Washington, D.C. The cost of the construction was about $3 million. The cost of replicating this building today is impossible to determine. The golden-domed Colorado State Capitol is one of the prominent features in Denver's skyline. The Neoclassical building, which sits at the eastern end of Denver's Civic Center Park, serves as a sort of museum to Colorado hitorsy, and free tours of the capitol building.
St. Elmo Colorado - A True Old West Ghost Town - Abandoned America
See Photos from our St. Elmo Visit Here:
St. Elmo was first named Forest City but was later changed because of a California town with the same name. The name St. Elmo was chosen by Griffith Evans, one of the founding fathers, who was at the time reading the novel St. Elmo.
At its peak in the 1890s, the town boasted a general store, telegraph office, town hall, Over 5 hotels, a handful of saloons, dancing halls, a newspaper office, and a schoolhouse.
The Denver, South Park and Pacific Railroad line ran through St. Elmo (Yes, it's the same South Park you are thinking of). There were 150 mines claimed within St. Elmo. The majority of the folks who lived in St. Elmo worked at the Mary Murphy, Teresa C., The Molly or the Pioneer Mines. The Mary Murphy Mine was the biggest and most productive mine in the area. While in operation, the Mary Murphy Mine recovered over $60,000,000 worth of gold. While the other local mines shut down, the Mary Murphy Mine continued to operate until the gold standard was implemented. Which collapsed the price of silver overnight.
As a result. The Railroad was closed and eventually abandoned in 1922. Even after the world gave up on this town and its mines, people continued to harvest ore. This was done by hand and miners would haul individual mining carts down the mountain.
Once the mining industry closed completely, St. Elmo drastically declined. Miners searched elsewhere for gold, rather than silver. The business district in St. Elmo closed down as well. Few people continued to live in the town. Postal service was discontinued in 1952 after the death of St. Elmo's postmaster. The current population is...three.

Top 10 Reasons NOT to Move to Denver, Colorado
The Top 10 reasons You Should NOT move to Denver, Colorado and the worst things you NEED to know about moving to Colorado Springs or Boulder instead.
Worst places to live in Nashville -
What's it like living in Denver? Well first off, the elevation is higher than most cities at 5,280 feet above sea level and it's located right next to the beautiful front range of the Rocky Mountains. The weather here is crazy and gets very cold with lots of snow but also very hot and dry in the Summer. It's actually the largest city in Colorado, and along with Colorado Springs, Fort Collins, Boulder and other secluded mountain towns, one of the best cities to live in America. A lot of people are moving from California and Texas to the Mile High City, making it one of the fastest growing and most expensive cities in the United States. If the Centennial State has the #1 economy, why shouldn't you live in Denver, CO?

Colorado State Capitol Building - VIDEO TOUR (Denver, Colorado)
Visiting the Colorado State Capitol Building! Seems like a hangout for locals and skateboarders. The capitol building is open to the public from 7:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday
Colorado State Capitol Building
Address: 200 E Colfax Ave, Denver, CO 80203
Height: 272′
Hours: Opens 7:30AM
Architects: Elijah E. Myers, Frank E. Edbrooke
The Colorado State Capitol Building, located at 200 East Colfax Avenue in Denver, Colorado, United States, is the home of the Colorado General Assembly and the offices of the Governor of Colorado and Lieutenant Governor of Colorado. The building is intentionally reminiscent of the United States Capitol. Designed by Elijah E. Myers, it was constructed in the 1890s from Colorado white granite, and opened for use in November 1894. The distinctive gold dome consists of real gold leaf, first added in 1908, commemorating the Colorado Gold Rush. The building is part of Denver's Civic Center area. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places as part of the Civic Center Historic District in 1974, and became part of the Denver Civic Center National Historic Landmark District in 2012.Serving as the beginning of the Capitol Hill district, the historic building sits slightly higher than the rest of downtown Denver. The main entrance hall is open 180 feet (55 m) to the top of the dome, about the height of an 18-story building. Additionally, the official elevation of Denver is measured outside the west entrance to the building, where the fifteenth step is engraved with the words One Mile Above Sea Level. From this step, at 5,280 feet (1,609 m), the sun can be seen setting behind the Rocky Mountains. A second mile high marker was set in the 18th step in 1969 when Colorado State University students resurveyed the elevation. In 2003, a more accurate measurement was made with modern means, and the 13th step was identified as being one mile (1.6 km) high, where a 3rd marker was installed. The interior of the building uses copious amounts of Colorado Rose Onyx, a rare rose marble from a quarry near Beulah. The amount used in the building consumed the entire known supply. White Yule Marble from the quarries near Marble, Colorado was also used throughout the capitol for the floors. Many designs have been found in the marble including an image resembling George Washington and another of Molly Brown.A major safety upgrade project, funded by the Colorado State Historical Fund, was started in 2001 and completed in 2009. The design by Fentress Architects added modern safety features, like enclosed stair towers, that blend in with the original architecture. Many of the windows are stained glass, depicting people or events related to the history of Colorado. The halls are decorated with portraits of every president of the United States.
One of the contractors for the construction of the Colorado State Capitol building was Illinois building contractor William Douglas Richardson, who was the president of the W. D. Richardson Construction Company. Richardson had participated in numerous major building contracts throughout the United States, and was interconnected with the Jacob Bunn and John Whitfield Bunn network of corporations.
