Woman in Cottonwood explains flying Confederate flag in Cottonwood, Az
Penny Fortner, owner of the Barter Inn which sells old military goods and items, said that the confederate flag she is flying downtown Cottonwood is not a sign of racism and is “part of history.” The flag is covered under her first amendment rights, explained Fortner. She has been flying the flag for 30 years, off and on, and changing it with other flags she sells, mostly military flags such as a “Don’t Tread on Me Flag.” Fortner said she’s been getting many orders for the Confederate flags and that is why she is flying it. Recently, Fortner said she was having difficulty getting the Confederate flags after South Carolina passed legislation to remove the Confederate battle flag from State capitol grounds last summer because it was viewed as a reminder of racial division. But Fortner said she wanted all her customers know, who have been wanting to purchase a flag, that she now has them in stock. “I’m not a racist at all,” Fortner explained. It’s equally as popular as my military flags. It’s also a matter of freedom of speech, she said. VVN/Vyto Starinskas

BRIEF BIO
________________________________________________________________
I am a retired, 64 year old, not quite divorced male with two daughters and a son.
This is the continuing chronicle of my exodus from traditional house living to a full time, solo nomadic lifestyle out of a single axle, 6' X 12' self converted cargo trailer, towed with a 1980 GMC Rally Wagon van.
The Trailer is a 3000lb GVW, 12X6 LOOK V-Nose with 72 square feet inside, and 60 additional square feet in two external, tilt out, hard walled, enclosed sleeping pods that could sleep 6 people in a pinch, 2 people with excellent comfort and privacy. It has 400 watts of Renogy solar panels on the roof and 200Ah in two, 100Ah AGM 12V batteries. For 110V needs, there is a 600W continuous / 1200W surge Power Tech-ON inverter for all my 110V needs. A BlueSky 3000i w/thermal sensor controls the charge system. It has an inside bathroom in the V-Nose with a Luggable Loo toilet. I am using red cedar chips and doubled, 13 gallon trash bags for sanitation. Pics of the complete build are on the Flickr website linked somewhere in this description.
A future goal is to buy land to homestead on. Hopefully the land will be in northern Idaho, but I will settle for anywhere that is beautiful and arable with ample sun and water.

Old Town Jail Trail River Walk- Cottonwood, Arizona: Full-Time RV Life With Kids
????“By humility and the fear of the Lord are riches, and honour, and life.”
Proverbs 22:4 KJV
????
????”Jail Trail begins by cutting through a Cottonwood riparian area which is surprisingly dense and isolated from the urban town. Soon the trail opens to a rocky washed flood plain of the Verde River and follows the River downstream for approximately mile. Eventually the trail offers the hiker a choice between continuing to Dead Horse Ranch State Park or looping back into Old Town Cottonwood. The trial is accessed through the City of Cottonwood and passes largely through Arizona State Parks land in Dead Horse Ranch State Park but it has a newly constructed loop return into and through the City of Cottonwood into Historic Old Town.”????
????Leashed Pets are welcome and there are no fees associated with using the Trail.????
