Smithville (Ohio) Historical Society Open House, July 20, 2014
Smithville, Ohio is the location of the Smithville Historical Society's Pioneer Village, a collection of USA pioneer buildings and artifacts. I've traveled far and wide in this great country, visiting great historical places such as Georgetown, Jamestown, etc. All were fantastic. But to find this gem in my own backyard, with all of it's living history. I am truly amazed. Don't miss a chance to visit it. Check them out on Facebook at
What you get for the $$ in MURFREESBORO Tennessee 746 East Main St
What can you get in the $400-500k budget in Murfreesboro?? Here's an example!
Dam Creek Campground
Dam Creek Campground was built during the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps. It is a secluded and quiet campground in the Cherokee National Forest outside of Tellico Plains, Tennessee.
The reason why I had done this “explore” of Dam Creek Campground is because of its historical significance and the fact that it appears to have been deserted. I typically don’t see many people going camping here. In fact, I see more kayakers parking at the parking area than actual campers. The cost to camp there is $5. I’m not sure if that means that it’s $5 a day or for however long you plan to be there. There is no charge for picnicking at Dam Creek.
At each campsite, there were bear proof lockers. All of them were missing doors and appeared to have not been used in a long time, as evidenced by seeing signs of animals taking shelter in them. Parts of the campground was also unkempt, leaving me to wonder just how long it had been since the park service had last tended to it. I also seen old drinking fountains near each campsite. I would also say that its emptiness is most likely due to the nearby resort town(which is a dead ringer for Elkmont) of Green Cove. Green Cove has grown a lot over the last few years.
