Chicago's Best Deep-Dish Pizza, According to Locals — Open Road
For almost 50 years, Pequod's has been the restaurant that people in the know head to pick up deep-dish pizza. It hasn't franchised all over the country, or even all over Chicago. It's just a two-location operation that serves a pie with a crispy burnt cheese crust.

Although it is floor to ceiling windows, river views and over 2,000 square feet of dock side patio space undoubtedly gives Quay a hot spot vibe; I'm making it my after work, meet up place for summer cocktails and crafted beer.

Places to see in ( Chicago - USA )
Places to see in ( Chicago - USA )
Chicago, on Lake Michigan in Illinois, is among the largest cities in the U.S. Famed for its bold architecture, it has a skyline punctuated by skyscrapers such as the iconic John Hancock Center, 1,451-ft. Willis Tower (formerly the Sears Tower) and the neo-Gothic Tribune Tower. The city is also renowned for its museums, including the Art Institute of Chicago with its noted Impressionist and Post-Impressionist works.
Steely skyscrapers, top chefs, rocking festivals – the Windy City will blow you away with its low-key cultured awesomeness. It's hard to know what to gawp at first. High-flying architecture is everywhere, from the stratospheric, glass-floored Willis Tower to Frank Gehry's swooping silver Pritzker Pavilion to Frank Lloyd Wright's stained-glass Robie House. Whimsical public art studs the streets; you might be walking along and wham, there's an abstract Picasso statue that's not only cool to look at, but you're allowed to go right up and climb on it. For art museums, take your pick: impressionist masterpieces at the massive Art Institute, psychedelic paintings at the mid-sized Museum of Mexican Art or outsider drawings at the small Intuit gallery.
Loosen your belt – you've got a lot of eating to do. On the menu: peanut-butter-and-banana-topped waffles for breakfast (at Stephanie Izard's Little Goat), a chicken, apple and cranberry hot dog for lunch (at Hot G Dog), and 20 courses of centrifuged, encapsulated molecular gastronomy for dinner (at Grant Achatz' Alinea). You can also chow down on a superb range of ethnic eats from Vietnamese pho to Mexican carnitas, Polish pierogi and Macanese fat rice. Still hungry? Order a late-night deep-dish pizza.
Chicago is a maniacal sports town, with a pro team for every season (two teams, in baseball's case). Watching a game is a local rite of passage, whether you slather on the blue-and-orange body paint for a Bears football game, join the raucous baseball crowd in Wrigley Field's bleachers, or plop down on a bar stool at the neighborhood tavern for whatever match is on TV. Count on making lots of spirited new friends. Should the excitement rub off and inspire you to get active yourself, the city's 26 beaches and 580 parks offer a huge array of play options.
Chicago knows how to rock a festival. Between March and September it throws around 200 shindigs. The specialty is music. Blues Fest brings half a million people to Millennium Park to hear guitar notes slide and bass lines roll, all for free. During the four-day Lollapalooza mega-party, rock bands thrash while the audience dances in an arm-flailing frenzy. Smaller, barbecue-scented street fests take place in the neighborhoods each weekend – though some rival downtown for star power on their stages (oh, hey, Olivia Newton-John at Northalsted Market Days).

This weekend celebrate Cinco de Mayo in the Pilsen neighborhood! Historically the Cinco de Mayo holiday commemorates May 5, 1862. The outnumbered State of Puebla, Mexico, defeated French forces and drove foreign power completely from the country. Today Cinco de Mayo is a celebration of Mexican history and their traditions. This 3 day festival starts Friday, May 4th and concludes with the largest Cinco de Mayo parade in Chicago on Sunday, May 6th. Weekend festivities include music, food, arts and crafts, and a carnival. Sunday's Cinco de Mayo parade starts at noon on Cermak Rd from Wood St. to Marshall Blvd.

I love Cuban food and one of my favorite Cuban restaurants is 90 Miles Cuban Café located at 2450 W. Armitage Avenue. The Gonzalez family came from Cuba in the 1980's with the idea to share their Cuban culture and cuisine with everyone. 90 Miles is open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner. Some of my personal favorites are the croqueta sandwich, bistec dinner, and empanadas. They have recently expanded their patio and feature live music on Tuesday evenings. Just a reminder: 90 Miles is BYOB,
so it is up to you to bring the party!

In the state of New Jersey, diners are more than just a place to grab a breakfast sandwich or a late night cup of coffee. Often the center of the community, diners built in the 1920's are still beloved by their guests despite modern restaurants filling up Main Street. Zagat editor Billy Lyons visited three diners in the Garden State to find out why this style of dining and cuisine continues to thrive - not to mention investigate a fun food debate.

Eating a Chicago Style Hotdog in Chicago!
In part two of our epic road trip to Montana, we stop by the Windy City to procure some urban delicacies. After a disastrous day one we were determined to make day two a success :P I hope you find this entertaining!!

Post Audio Script:
As the morning sun washed over Brown County State Park, we prepared to embark on day two of our journey to the west. Not this Journey to the west but our journey to the west… Unfortunately, we didn’t leave on time as we spent half an hour cleaning up an A/C issue. And take a good country look we did! Indianapolis turned out to be smaller than we imagined. Before I show you the footage of Indiana, I will preface it by explaining why there isn’t more footage of cities. See, this is what most of my footage like thanks to the wonderful cinematography skills of Caleb in the passenger seat. Wasn’t that lovely? Now comes the meat and potatoes of this leg of our journey: Chicago! Now, I must confess that I had a bad impression of Chicago; my impressions could not have been more wrong as we discovered Chicago to be one of the most beautiful cities we had ever seen. Eventually we made it to the shores of Lake Michigan and stopped for lunch. We really were blown away by the shores of Lake Michigan. I had seen a great lake before but seeing Chicago on the shoreline truly felt like a coastal city. Now Chicago is known for some culinary delights so, for lunch we decided to pursue one. We wanted to eat an authentic Chicago style hot dog! We truly had fallen in love with what little we saw of the city, but all good things must come to an end as it was time to hit the road for our next destination, but before we did that I had a stroke of marketing genius… And with that clever dad joke we were on our way. Bound for a few miles outside of the Twin Cities we were in excellent spirits! It’s funny how something can make your good mood completely 180… Like in this case it was a missed toll on a toll road that made my blood boil… We finally made it!! This time before dark. We had time to grill out and sit by the fire. Camping out here in Wisconsin was hot but was still better than our nightmare from yesterday. And with that leg 2 of our journey was complete. I hop you found this video entertaining enough to give it a like and comment below about where the best place to get hot dogs is. Subscribe to see the rest of our journey and more videos to come. See you next time!

Company Information...
Steak 'n Shake Operations, Inc., or simply Steak 'n Shake, is a casual restaurant chain located primarily in the Midwestern and Southern United States with locations also in the Northeastern and Southwestern United States, and Europe. The company is headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana. There are 544 locations, of which 417 are company-operated and 127 are franchised. Typical restaurant locations have sit-down, drive-thru and front-window service, resulting in a hybrid of fast-food to-go service and diner-style sit-down service. Many Steak 'n Shake restaurants are open 24 hours a day, seven days per week. True to its name, the menu features primarily steakburgers and hand-dipped milkshakes, though other entrees, side items, and drinks are also available. There is no steak on the menu.
The corporation's slogan Famous for Steakburgers refers to its most prominent food item, the Steakburger, so called because it was originally made from a mixture that included T-bone, sirloin, and round steaks.
Steak 'n Shake restaurants are operated by Steak 'n Shake Operations, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Biglari Holdings, located in San Antonio, Texas. As of now, the company operates over 500 restaurants in 29 states, including about 100 franchised locations. The company has announced plans to increase the number of locations both in the United States and elsewhere.
History
Gus Belt (born in Morrisonville, Illinois) founded Steak 'n Shake in Normal, Illinois in February 1934, after serving four years in the United States Marine Corps. He converted the combination gas station and chicken restaurant that he owned (Shell's Chicken) into a hamburger stand.[1] The original building at the intersection of Main Street and West Virginia Avenue was damaged by a fire in the early 1960s, but it was repaired and its dining room expanded. In the late 1990s, Steak 'n Shake sold this building to the Monical's Pizza company. Steak 'n Shake's slogan In Sight It Must Be Right originally referred to Belt's practice of wheeling a barrel of T-bone, sirloin, and round steaks into the public area of his restaurant, then grinding them into burgers in front of his customers. This practice was intended to reassure customers of the wholesomeness of the product; at that time, ground beef was still viewed with some skepticism by the general public, based on the likelihood of its having deliberate impurities introduced into it. This practice of grinding the beef in public also helped assure his customers of the veracity of Belt's Steakburger claim because they could see for themselves that he was grinding steaks into the hamburger meat. Later, patrons were assured that Steakburgers were still made from these ingredients at our own commissary for shipment to the restaurants, where the open grill line remains in sight to customers.
