This area is in Hobe Sound NWR and stopped here after hiking nearby. I am glad I did this is a beautiful place and there are hiking trails there as well. So you can take a relaxing dip in the Atlantic Ocean and enjoy the trails.

Quick Overview of Blowing Rocks Preserve, Jupiter Island in Hobe Sound, Florida (3/31/17)
Blowing Rocks Preserve is located just north of the Martin County line on Jupiter Island. The environmental preserve itself straddles A1A. Blowing Rocks offer two completely different experiences, on the west side mangroves and the Intracoastal Waterway, on the east side sea grape forest and the ocean. The preserve was named for its rocky Anastasia limestone shoreline – the largest on the U.S. Atlantic coast. During extreme high tides and after winter storms, seas break against the rocks and force plumes of saltwater up to 50 feet skyward. It’s an impressive sight, and definitely not your typical Florida beach.
The town of Jupiter Island is located on the barrier island called Jupiter Island, in Martin County, Florida. The town is part of the Port St. Lucie, Florida, Metropolitan Statistical Area. It has no post office, as all mail comes from Hobe Sound on the mainland.

The Hobe Sound National Wildlife Refuge, a part of the United States National Wildlife Refuge System, is a refuge on Jupiter Island in Florida. Part of the refuge is inside the town of Jupiter Island, while the rest is in the unincorporated areas of Martin County. The 1,035-acre (4.19 km2) refuge was established in 1969, to protect the loggerhead and green sea turtles. It is administered as part of the Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge.Within the refuge is the 173-acre (0.70 km2) Reed Wilderness Seashore Sanctuary, designated a National Natural Landmark on November 1967.

Indian River Lagoon Kayaking
The Indian River Lagoon is a vital estuary along the east coast of Florida. On New Year’s Day 2017, we decided to Kayak within the southern portion of the lagoon and enjoy some of the natural beauty. This video was made in the Hobe Sound region including the shoreline of Hobe Sound National Wildlife Refuge. Along the way, I provide some commentary on this incredibly important natural resource.

Views from Hobe Mountain Observation Tower in Jonathan Dickinson State Park
This is a neat place to see within Jonathan Dickinson State Park called Hobe Mountain Trail. It is a boardwalk trail that leads you up to a nice observation tower where you can get commanding views of the surrounding area. For more information go here -
