Chasing the Hobo Railroad 6-8-19
In my two years of doing this channel, I realized something, I've never filmed a chase of just normal Hobo operation, I was going to when I chased the Cafe Lafayette last year, but opted for the ride after seeing how cheap it was. So here we are.
The Hobo Railroad runs from Hobo Junction out of Lincoln New Hampshire, making a southbound move on the Lincoln Wye before continuing south to Woodstock, where it pulls into the Jack O'Lantern Golf Course, where it then pushes itself back to Lincoln. The route travels along the same rail line as the Winnipesaukee Scenic Railroad, and New England Southern, both of which take up residence in southern sections of trackage. The entirety of the track originates back to the Boston and Maine, often having two different names, the White Mountain Branch, but is also referred to as the Pemigewasset Branch. Having a heritage in being used for mill and lumber, while also hauling tourists to the lakes and mountains, given it's current function, not much has changed aside from it's freight usage.
The line is quite easy to chase, and results here are plentiful, with multiple departures by the Hobo during the day, and a departure as the Cafe Lafayette Dinner Train in the evening, it is a lovely line to catch, and I've done it multiple times. The original plan was to catch a Hobo run and then a CLDT run, a guardrail lining the road near my perch for the Pemigewasset Bridge had other plans. On the way back from my shot, I tripped on the guardrail, and in the fall, broke my tripod, as well as the tripod mount of my camera. It wasn't until Evans Road that I realized the severity of the damage, mostly to the tripod, and went back to pick up pieces for a possible repair. If you're laughing reading this don't worry after a while I was laughing too. As of recent I've been able to repair the camera and it has no difference in performance. So that'll be a fun story to tell in the future!

I was there for the first time so I decided... Why not so I recorded the whole trip from Lincoln to the Jack O'Lantern Resort & Golf Course and back.

History:
The Plymouth & Lincoln Railroad is a railroad operating on the Concord-Lincoln rail line in central New Hampshire, United States. The railroad consists of two distinct passenger operations, the Hobo Railroad, which offers passenger excursion trains in the White Mountains, and the Winnipesaukee Scenic Railroad, which operates passenger excursion trains along the shore of Lake Winnipesaukee in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. In addition to passenger operations, the railroad owns the Lincoln Shops, a railroad equipment maintenance, and repair facility located in Lincoln, New Hampshire.

Riding the Hobo Railroad 8-11-18
In the midst of summer, I decided that I would try something I've never done despite living in New Hampshire all my life. The Hobo Railroad has been one that I've heard about and seen online and once in real life before this, but I never gave it much thought to ride as the Winnipesaukee Scenic is closer to me and for railroads in the White Mountains I've typically relied on Conway for that.
After deciding to chase the Cafe Lafayette, going to the Hobo was an obvious choice, what was not planned until I got to the station was the ride, which was $17, so I went for it. Filming bits and pieces was my first strategy on the ride from Lincoln to Woodstock, while I was trying to position my camera for the ride back, a incredibly friendly conductor allowed me to place my camera in the doorway.
The ride itself consists of plenty of encounters with the Pemigewasset River, as well as views of the forest surrounding the track, an excellent view in foliage season I'm sure!

The Santa Express at Hobo Railroad, 12-22-18
At the end of the Boston and Maine White Mountain Branch, at the Hobo Railroad, Santa visits the Railroad for the round trip from Lincoln to Woodstock, New Hampshire. Leading the way for outbound trip to Woodstock is SW1000 1012 and SW1001 1590.
After the 1:00 Santa Express train, the 4:30 North Pole Express can be seen crossing Main Street.
On a side note, if you're a regular viewer of my channel, you may have noticed the quality of my video isn't as great as my other recent videos. Problems with my main Panasonic camera made it useless, so I had to resort to my backup Sony Handicam. Also for the entire day, rain and wind made recording difficult, so there will be moments where water drops get on the camera lens, or where the wind is in the audio, plus the decreased smoothness of the panning shots. Sorry about that, but this was the best footage I could get considering everything.

Adventure on the Lake, The Winnipesaukee Scenic Railroad
New Hampshire has become one of the most popular states to visit, and one such location of interest is the lakes region around Lake Winnipesaukee. The area boasts a variety of attractions, and one such attraction is the Winnipesaukee Scenic Railroad. This excursion railroad operates train rides between the towns of Meredith, Weirs Beach, and Lakeport traveling along the western coast of the lake the entire trip.
