Hohokam Pima National Monument - Snaketown
Did you know there is a National Monument in Phoenix called the Hohokam Pima National Monument? Dated from 300 B.C. to 1200 A.D. The Monument protects the Snake town ruins located on the Gila Indian reservation. According to the National Park Service, The Gila River Indian community has decided not to open the extremely sensitive area to the public.

The 2015 Cactus League season is almost here! Soon 15 Major League Baseball teams will head to the Valley of the Sun for Spring Training, a tradition that began in 1947.
My hometown, Mesa, hosts two teams - the Oakland A’s and the Chicago Cubs. The A’s are taking over the Cubs old home field, Hohokam Stadium as that Cubs move into their new facility at Sloan Park at Riverview. And what a home it is! The beautiful Mesa Sheraton Hotel opening this year will be a home-away-from-home for baseball fans taking a break from the frozen tundra to enjoy our unbeatable desert weather while watching their favorite baseball players hit the field. The 15,000-seat park includes 3 party decks including the Budweiser party deck with rooftop seating, a state-of-the-art workout facility and 7 practice fields, a 28ft x 88ft video board to catch all the highlights, a Kid Zone and plenty of tasty dining options including an army of food trucks that will appear during games behind Center field.

The Mesa Arts Center is a performing and visual arts complex in downtown Mesa, Arizona. At more than 210,000 square feet, the $95 million facility, completed in 2005, is the largest comprehensive arts campus in the state.
The Mesa Arts Center encompasses four performance venues, from the intimate 99-seat Farnsworth Studio Theater to the 1,600-seat Ikeda Theater. Under Brown, the city passed a quality-of-life bond issue in 1998 to help pay for the center.Though he left office in 2000, Brown and his wife, Kathy, continued a private fundraising campaign for the arts center.The couple ultimately raised more than $4.5 million from the private sector beginning in 2000.The Mesa Arts Center's sculpture courtyard is named for Wayne Brown.
The only other city in Central Arizona that is larger than Mesa is Phoenix. It is the 3rd largest city in Arizona, the 38th largest city in America and boasts a population of nearly 500,000.

Mesa Historical Museum
The Mesa Historical Museum - The museum's buildings are in fact the museum's largest artifacts. The main museum building was built in 1914 for use as the Lehi School. Learn the history of Jones Town, Lehi, and Mesa. Just across the street from the Museum was old Fort Utah, built to protect the people from the Apache Indians in the 1870's and 80's. This Museum is a must visit.
