BEST Day Trip HOI AN, Vietnam - TRA QUE VILLAGE Organic Farm - Bicycle Tour
On our final day of the Flying the Nest Expedition, we left the town of Hoi An, Vietnam and headed out to the countryside on a bicycle tour! We visited the Tra Que Village where we were able to witness their farming practices first hand, then we used some of the fresh ingredients in a cooking demonstration! So Fun, Best day trip!!! Then we explored more of Hoi An and tried their signature dish, Cao Lau! Our favorite dish in Vietnam!!! Yum!
We are so excited that we were able to explore Vietnam with an amazing Australian couple, Stephen and Jess from Flying the Nest. That's right! Stephen and Jess arranged their very 1st Flying the Nest Expedition and we were lucky enough to snag a couple spots and tag along! If you aren't familiar with Flying the Nest, then you ABSOLUTELY MUST check them out on Youtube and Instagram! They are quite amazing! And we were so lucky and grateful to share this experience with them!
We also got to meet and hang our with some other amazing up and coming You-tubers! Make sure you check out their channels!!

Day Trips OUTSIDE of Hội An (Should You Stay in Da Nang or Hội An Vietnam??)
Spending a few days in Hội An?? Old Quarter is cool and all but after a few days it gets a little repetitive. We'd suggest renting a motorbike and heading 5 kilometers outside of Hội An to Da Nang. Loop in Marble Mountain with your beach day and you'll be in good shape!
Where we stayed: (Thien Tan Homestay) (Free bikes!)

Hoi An Cam Thanh water coconut village Basket Boat experience
Follow Us as Jim shares with you his recent visit to the Water Coconut Village to experience the basket boat ride in Hoi An - Cam Thanh. Check out how a leisure ride quickly culminated into a thrill ride with endless spinning that would probably send one flying out of the boat if one does not hang on tightly for dear life. Definitely not for the faint-hearted!!!
A little travel tip for you if you plan to visit the Cam Thanh water Coconut Village soon. You can save half the time and money if you visit the village on your own. All you need to do is to key in the address in your Grab (hired car) app with the following address:
Dừa Bảy Mẫu restaurant and boat tours
Share with us, in the comments section below, your experience riding in the basket boat if you have already done so! If you have not sat in one before, then our question to you would be, would you be game enough to take on the challenge? :P

Experiencing Local Life in Hoi An Vietnam
Second stop during our stay in Vietnam was to a charming lil city, Hoi An. Hoi An was a place we both really enjoyed and we stayed longer than most visitors to there to properly soak it all in.
During our time in Hoi An, we stayed at An Bang Stilt House. A traditional style building that's in a great location. It's a 5 min bicycle ride away from the beach and only a short drive away from Hoi An Old Town too. Plenty of Grab taxis to get us there. We had the most friendly and welcoming host ever (Kim) who made us feel right at home during our entire stay. We recommend ordering her home-cooked meals, they were so good!
An Bang Stilt House
Address: Group 4, Tan Thanh, Cam An ward, Hoi An, Quang Nam, Vietnam 563800
We also enjoyed a unique and special tour of Hoi An away from the tourist attractions and out into the more remote countryside of Hoi An.
Our tour of Hoi An, Vietnam was with XO Tours. This is a really cool tour company where all the tours are done on scooters and with friendly, knowledgeable, female riders (the company wanted to give females more job opportunities so created XO Tours) but the best thing is you get to immerse yourself in the local life of Hoi An and Vietnam.
We got to learn about the daily work lives of locals, try our hands at their craft and ended the tour with a invitation into a Vietnamese family home for an amazing home cooked meal. Definitely a great experience and one to try for yourselves if you're visiting Hoi An and looking for things to do.
We're here in Vietnam for a month, so expect plenty more food and travel videos to come. Stay tuned! ????

Experience Southeast Asia: Cycling Tour Through Hoi An
Think there’s only one way to experience the food, culture, history, and beauty of Southeast Asia? Think again. In this video, we’re showing you how much of this incredible region you can see on a cycling tour! Follow along on a cycling tour of Hoi An, Vietnam, and see for yourself how rewarding these tours can be. If exercise, hidden gems, and in-depth exploration are your thing, then today’s your lucky day.
While Hoi An isn’t the busy port town it used to be, the area is still active, beautiful, and practically begging to be explored on bike. There’s a new story around every corner in the city, from unique and ever-changing architecture to ancient and recent history to food you won’t find anywhere else.
Of course, when you’re visiting a town on Vietnam’s central coast, you won’t want to spend the entire tour on land! After you’ve seen everything on the streets of Hoi An (or at least tried to!), hit the water in an iconic basket boat. You’ve fuelled up by eating all the Vietnamese food you can, right?
If you thought Hoi An was incredible during the day, just wait until you see it after dark. No tour would be complete without a sunset cruise!
Are you jealous of all the lucky travellers on this cycling tour yet? We thought so! If you can’t stand the jealousy anymore, head over to TourRadar and see if you can find an incredible adventure of your very own.

In this video we explored the ancient town of Hoi An in Vietnam. We went for a nice bike ride to the beach and later on walked around the main part of town and had a nice boat ride. Hoi An was easily the busiest place we visited during our time in Vietnam but we still had a good time and it is definitely very unique it its appearance.

Our guide is ready at our hotel with bicycles. You’ll start the trip with a gentle through rice paddies in Cam Chau and Tra Que, there’s time to stop at a local house for some seasonal drink and talk with its friendly host. The cycling route continues to Cam Thanh commune and finishes at our kayak station, and let’s ready for the next experience.
You’ll have a guided-paddle to the cocopalm forest, a unique mangrove ecosystem for Hoi An. There is a great opportunity to see special fishing traps, fishing boats and observe our community at play. Most Beautiful City in Vietnam | Exploring Hoi An - The City of Lanterns
Learn more about travelling with us on our Flying the Nest Expeditions here:
Our final expeditions episode is here :( we have arrived in our last spot - Hoi An. Here we spent a few days exploring one of the most beautiful cities here in Vietnam - also known as the city of Lanterns.
After doing the Hai Van Pass from Hue down to Hoi Ann (absolutely stunning by the way) we checked into our hotel and headed out to explore the city.
First stop was picking up group hats, before going out onto the river to celebrate the lantern festival that takes place every full moon.
The next day we were on the hunt for some local dishes - we tried the famous Banh Mi and coconut coffee.
Check out our Vietnam Street food video:
On our second last day we held a workshop day with everyone on the expeditions, teaching them everything we know about running a successful YouTube channel, travelling full time and how we started doing this.
On our final day we headed out onto the rice fields by bikes before stopping off at a local farm to learn how the majority of the population of Vietnam works and lives, before learning how to cook our own Vietnam pancakes.
We just wanted to say thank you to everyone for making this trip unforgettable :)
