Snowboarding in Japan | Norwegians in Niseko

Five of my friends went halfway across the planet to Niseko, Hokkaido in Japan, to find some powder. And they did. When they got back they asked me if I could make a quick edit of the roughly nine hours they had filmed from their trip. This is the result. It's kind of a love letter to snowboarding, a little reminder of the importance of just having a blast, forgetting to shoot film with corresponding camera settings, proper setup when filming jumps and staging the perfect lines for the camera. It's just five dudes in their mid 30's enjoying their time in the snow, and the result is, in my humble opinion, a nice reminder for all of us to just enjoy every single turn, and have a lot of fun doing so.

Technical stuff:
All footage is captured with GoPro Hero 2 and GoPro Hero 3.
Edited in Adobe Premiere Pro CC. All editing done on a 2013 MacBook Air 2GHz Intel Core i7, 8GB 1600 MHz DDR3. Slight image quality loss occurs due to the guys filming with different camera setups, and me rendering in one specific project setting, not unleashing the full potential in the camera. But it's all good, should still be still fun to watch!

The snow just keeps on dumping with so much powder in Niseko -16/12/09

The base is topping up nicely with around 80cms of fresh in the past 24hrs. There will be lines for the taking this morning!
9 lifts should be up and running with more scheduled to open tomorrow.
The current snow depth at the base is 90cm and 160cm up top. Wind chill is down to - 24 degrees with a day time high of - 6.
Westerly winds should be generally light between 15 to 25km/hr.
Unbelievable powder up top, waist deep and its not going to stop!.
Catch first lift tomorrow at 8:30 here in Hanazono on the 17th of December 2009

Yuki is the Japanese word for snow.
Any attempt to portray Rusutsu without mention of the Yuki that falls here would be a very incomplete illustration of Rusutsu, Hokkaido, or even Japan. The snow is why we go to Japan in the first place, thus in the snow is where our video journey to Rusutsu begins.

This is why we dedicate the first episode solely to the incredibly deep and unbelievably light snow that buries Rusutsu each winter.
This is the first reason we travel to Japan; to find that feeling we are looking for when we chase powder.
