Wholehearted Transportation Service ~ Red Bear, running day after day [Large Snow Sculpture]
The potatoes and the onions you find in supermarkets might be sent from the farmers in Hokkaido and delivered by Red Bear.
Total distance of approximately 500 freight trains operated each day, on the railway system linking 242 freight stations across the country, which is equivalent to five times the distance around the Earth. JR Freight (or Japan Freight Railway Company) is the only freight railway company in Japan to transport industrial supplies which are important prop of our economy, and daily commodities nationwide.
The Bo-Bo-Bo wheel arrangement locomotive types, ‘The Class DF200’ (nicknamed Red Bear) and ‘the Class EH800’ carry freight cars with reddish-brown containers and tank containers. The freight trains are operating the railway system from the north to the south across the country each day. You can’t normally see inside the container, but each container is able to carry 250 boxes of 20kg weigh potatoes, or 336 cases of 24 bottles of 500ml PET bottle. What is more, about 40% of potatoes and 70% onions produced in Hokkaido are transported by freight train to Honshu, the main island of Japan.
As a supporter of ‘modal shift’ to reduce carbon-dioxide emissions which contribute to the global warming, JR Freight is not only working on punctuality and systematic mass transportation to change the way of transportation, but also cooperating with the truck load transportation companies to transport and deliver goods for the customers in a most effective way as possible. JR Freight transports customers’ precious goods wholeheartedly day after day.
This impressive large snow sculpture featuring the Red Bear looks forward to meeting you all. It is produced by HTB (Hokkaido Television Broadcasting Co., Ltd.) in cooperation with the Sapporo Snow Festival Large Snow Sculpture Producing Committee, Ground Self Defense Force; Third Snow Sculpture Producing Unit. They will be working on this snow sculpture for 28 days from January 7 to February 3.

66th(2015) Sapporo Snow Festival in Odori Park(Nishi 8 chome) Kasuga Taisha Shrine
66th(2015) Sapporo Snow Festival in Odori Park(Nishi 8 chome) Kasuga Taisha Shrine
A large snow sculpture of a UNESCO World Heritage, ‘The Middle Gate and Hall of Kasuga Taisha Shrine’ in Nara Prefecture, Japan, is appearing at the Snow HTB Square during the snow festival. Every twenty years, the shrine buildings of Kasuga Taisha Shrine are rebuilt and the sacred treasures are renewed to raise the power of the deities. The rebuilding works is due to begin this year 2015 and the renewed shrine is expected to appear in 2016.
Before the appearance of the real shrine in the following year, we support the worldwide PR campaign of this significant event by the power of Sapporo Snow Festival.
A large snow sculpture, The Middle Gate and Hall of Kasuga Taisha Shrine is almost the same size as the original that measures 11.5 meters high, 17.2 meters wide and 9.3 meters in depth. Approximately 2.000 tons of snow (or the amount of snow equivalent to 400 five-ton trucks) is needed to make this snow sculpture. A special technique called, “the ice block method” is employed to make approximately 1.540 delicate snow parts in 101 types to construct the snow sculpture in detail. The snow sculpture is produced by HTB (Hokkaido Television Broadcasting Co., Ltd.) in cooperation with the Ground Self Defense Force; the 11th Brigade the 18th Infantry Regiment, and the 2nd Snow Sculpture Producing Unit.
A total of 3.500 Self-Defense Force personnel will be working on this snow sculpture for 29 days.

Mausoleum of Itmad-Ud-Daulah at the Sapporo Snow Festival
Mausoleum of Itmad-Ud-Daulah, built in the 1620s is located in the tourist city of Agra, 180km to Southeast of the capital New Delhi. The mausoleum was originally commissioned by Nūr Jahān, the wife of Jahangir for her parents. This splendid building has white marble covered exterior walls which are encrusted with semi-precious stone decorations and light penetrates to the interior through delicate screens of intricately carved white marble. These openwork skills were passed on to subsequent generations and elegantly applied to Taj Mahal.
Here the snow sculpture, Mausoleum of Itmad-Ud-Daulah measures 12 meters high, 21 meters wide and 23 meters in depth. Approximately 2.250 tons of snow (or the amount of snow equivalent to 450 five-ton tracks) is needed to make this snow sculpture. A special technique called, The Ice Block Method is employed to make approximately 1.100 delicate snow parts in 24 types to construct the snow sculpture in detail. Pokémon Channel
Pokémon Channel, released in Japan as Pokémon Channel ~Together with Pikachu!~ (ポケモンチャンネル ~ピカチュウといっしょ!~, Pokemon Channeru ~Pikachū to Issho!~), is a 2003 video game in the Pokémon series for the GameCube, developed by Ambrella and published by Nintendo and The Pokémon Company. The player's goal is to help Professor Oak refine and promote his TV network through watching broadcasts with a Pikachu. The game contains elements of the adventure, digital pet, and simulation genres. The player can explore full 3D environments, have Pikachu converse with other Pokémon, and collect various items.
The game was developed rather quickly as a sequel to the Nintendo 64 title Hey You, Pikachu! and to promote the Nintendo e-Reader accessory, and uses a novel 3D texturing effect. It was first showcased at Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2003 and later through a month-long series of promotional events in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan. It was released on July 18, 2003, in Japan, December 1 in North America, and April 2, 2004, in Europe. In Japan, the game sold 66,373 copies in its first year. It received mixed reviews, which generally criticized its low level of interactivity and repetitive sound effects, though its collecting aspects and visuals were somewhat better received.

SUMMARY
=======
Japan (Japanese: 日本; Nippon [ɲippoɴ] or Nihon [ɲihoɴ]; formally 日本国 Nippon-koku or Nihon-koku, lit. State of Japan) is an island country in East Asia. Located in the Pacific Ocean, it lies off the eastern coast of the Asian continent and stretches from the Sea of Okhotsk in the north to the East China Sea and the Philippine Sea in the south.
The kanji that make up Japan's name mean sun origin, and it is often called the Land of the Rising Sun. Japan is a stratovolcanic archipelago consisting of about 6,852 islands. The four largest are Honshu, Hokkaido, Kyushu, and Shikoku, which make up about ninety-seven percent of Japan's land area and often are referred to as home islands. The country is divided into 47 prefectures in eight regions, with Hokkaido being the northernmost prefecture and Okinawa being the southernmost one. The population of 127 million is the world's tenth largest. Japanese make up 98.5% of Japan's total population. About 13.8 million people live in Tokyo, the capital of Japan. The Greater Tokyo Area is the most populous metropolitan area in the world with over 38 million people.Archaeological research indicates that Japan was inhabited as early as the Upper Paleolithic period. The first written mention of Japan is in Chinese history texts from the 1st century AD. Influence from other regions, mainly China, followed by periods of isolation, particularly from Western Europe, has characterized Japan's history.
From the 12th century until 1868, Japan was ruled by successive feudal military shōguns who ruled in the name of the Emperor. Japan entered into a long period of isolation in the early 17th century, which was ended in 1853 when a United States fleet pressured Japan to open to the West. After nearly two decades of internal conflict and insurrection, the Imperial Court regained its political power in 1868 through the help of several clans from Chōshū and Satsuma – and the Empire of Japan was established. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, victories in the First Sino-Japanese War, the Russo-Japanese War and World War I allowed Japan to expand its empire during a period of increasing militarism. The Second Sino-Japanese War of 1937 expanded into part of World War II in 1941, which came to an end in 1945 following the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and the Japanese surrender. Since adopting its revised constitution on May 3, 1947, during the occupation by the SCAP, the sovereign state of Japan has maintained a unitary parliamentary constitutional monarchy with an Emperor and an elected legislature called the National Diet.
Japan is a member of the ASEAN Plus mechanism, UN, the OECD, the G7, the G8 and the G20 – and is considered a great power. The country has the world's third-largest economy by nominal GDP and the world's fourth-largest economy by purchasing power parity. It is also the world's fourth-largest exporter and fourth-largest importer.
The country benefits from a highly skilled workforce and is among the most highly educated countries in the world, with one of the highest percentages of its citizens holding a tertiary education degree. Although Japan has officially renounced its right to declare war, it maintains a modern military with the world's eighth-largest military budget, used for self-defense and peacekeeping roles. It ranked as the world's fourth most-powerful military in 2015. Japan is a highly developed country with a very high standard of living and Human Development Index. Its population enjoys the highest life expectancy and the third lowest infant mortality rate in the world, but is experiencing issues due to an aging population and low birthrate. Japan is renowned for its historical and extensive cinema, influential music industry, anime, video gaming, rich cuisine and its major contributions to science and modern-day technology.

The Chu kondo the Central Golden Hall of Kofuku ji Temple in Nara
The Central Golden Hall is the most important building among the three Golden Halls in the Kohfuku-ji temple complex situated in Nara. It was founded in 710 by Fujiwara no Fuhito who was one of the directors to compile the Taiho Code. The original size of the hall is believed to be 36.6 meters wide, 23 meters deep and 21.2 meters high.
The Central Golden Hall fell victim to fire a total of seven times over the course of its 1,300-year history. The most recent of these fires occurred in 1717, following which more than a century passed before a scaled-down, temporary structure could finally be erected in 1819. This temporary hall began to show such extensive damage due to the deterioration, and had to be demolished completely in the year 2000. In preparation, the various icons enshrined in the building were moved to a Kari-kondo (Temporary Golden Hall) erected immediately to the north of the Central Golden Hall. In 2010, the Ricchu-shiki (ceremonial setting up of the first pillar) was held. The Central Golden Hall is scheduled to be open to the public in 2018.
The size of this large snow sculpture is 13 meters high, 22 meters wide and 21 meters in depth. The amount of snow used for this snow sculpture is about 3,000 tons, equivalent to 600 five-ton trucks.
