Things To Do in Jakarta Indonesia - Jakarta Travel Guide
Are you are flying to Java Indonesia and looking for things to do in 1 day in Jakarta? Jakarta is a gateway to the many islands of Indonesia and many tourists and travellers will find themselves with a day in Jakarta. In this video I explore some of Jakarta's main sights, such as the National Monument, Istiqlal Mosque, Jakarta Cathedral and Pasar Baru.
Indonesia’s capital, Jakarta, lies on the northwest coast of Java which is the most populous island in the world. Jakarta city is well known for having lots of traffic, but head to Merdeka Square and then there are a number of places within easy walking distance. On my walking tour of central Jakarta I visit the following places:
1. Monas Monument (National Monument) in Merdeka Square
2. Istiqlal Mosque - the largest Mosque in Southeast Asia
3. Jakarta Cathedral - St Mary of the Assumption
4. Shopping at Pasar Baru - street market
5. Jakarta Shopping Malls
6. Street Food
There is a lot more to see in Jakarta, but this was all I could squeeze into my first day sightseeing in this amazing city of Indonesia. Don't forget to subscribe and click on the notification bell if you want to see more things to do in Jakarta Indonesia.
I hope you enjoy watching this video, please leave a comment to let me know what else I should see in Jakarta.

JAKARTA, Indonesia Highlights | Travel Vlog
I just spent a week in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia. Aside from working, here is everything I got up to. I stayed at an Airbnb which was close to Grand Indonesia mall so I went there quite often, one night to watch the sunset from the Skye Bar. I saw Monas, went inside the Istiqlal Mosque, the largest in Southeast Asia, saw the Old Town and spent a day at the Taman Mini park. Despite initial challenges, I had a good time.
Please thumbs up, leave me a comment and subscribe for more of my travel blog adventures around the world!

First Time in INDONESIA - FIRST IMPRESSIONS of INDONESIA
Our FIRST IMPRESSIONS OF INDONESIA took us by surprise. For our FIRST TIME IN INDONESIA we flew to JAKARTA. We mostly chilled, but we did get to explore the town for one day and it completely blew us away! JAKARTA was extremely clean and developed. We barely saw any trash on the streets. The JAKARTA NATIONAL MONUMENT was beautiful and a very peaceful area to simply walk around. The city and the malls were extremely modern and full of things to do. We think we went to the coolest mall that we had ever been to yet! We don't know exactly what we expected from JAKARTA but this definitely surpassed our expectations.

Jakarta, Indonesia's massive capital, sits on the northwest coast of the island of Java. A historic mix of cultures – Javanese, Malay, Chinese, Arab, Indian and European – has influenced its architecture, language and cuisine
The Thousand Islands are located north of Jakarta city. Thousand Islands has their name because there are more than 130 islands in the cluster.
Only less than a third is inhabited.
Peaceful and serene environment makes it a perfect getaway from city noise.
Some islands already have become a major tourist destination. While most of the people of the Thousand Islands still work as fishermen.
There are many resorts built so that guests can enjoy the natural charm of the Thousand Islands such as beaches, underwater beauty, island hopping and sunrise – sunset.
Taking a day trip in Pulau Onrust means bringing many fascinating pages on a history book about Jakarta to life.
You can’t stay on the island, although, it is home to archaeological remains from the Dutch colonial days. It is perfect for when you want to have a break from anything touristy and enjoy the different tone of the town.
Kelor Island may just be a tiny island, but it surely played a huge part in Dutch Colonial history. It was here that the VOC and Dutch authorities established their first ever defense fort in the entire Indonesian Archipelago. Today, visitors can still see a defense fort complete with its watchtower or Martello
Cipir Island was once also a sanitarium for those infected with leprosy and Tuberculosis from Onrust Island and others
Pulau Bidadari is the nearest island to Marina Ancol ferry port and is only 30 minutes away by boat, where you can instantly enjoy the photogenic site of Fort Martello, that was built in the 17th century. The island has a marvelous collection of rare trees growing naturally on its fertile soil. There are the Peace Trees (baringtoniaexelsa), Sentigi Trees (pempisacidula), Black Wood Trees (diospyrosmaritama), fruit trees and mangrove trees that are superb resources to study
Bank Indonesia Museum (Indonesian Museum Bank Indonesia) is a bank museum located in Jakarta, Indonesia. It is officially founded by Bank Indonesia and was opened on 21st July, 2009. The museum is housed in a heritage building in Jakarta Old Town previously the first headquarters of the De Javasche bank, the central bank of Dutch East Indies.
The bank was later nationalized into Bank Indonesia in 1953, after Indonesia officially gained its independence. The Museum is closed on Mondays (including public holidays) and have no entrance fee. It is located next to Bank Mandiri Museum.
Located in Central Jakarta’s Jalan Sabang which is a popular culinary street destination, Natrabu is actually a famous Minang (Padang) eatery, considered one of the best in the city.
Founded in 1958 by Haji Rahimi Sutan, there are now 8 Natrabu restaurants, in addition to 2 in Malaysia.

JAVA CITY TRAVEL: JAKARTA AND YOGYAKARTA
????Location: Jakarta and Yogyakarta, Java.

These two places couldn’t be more different Jakarta is a vast expanse of sheer people, buildings, streets and traffic and Yogyakarta is a laid back, cosy city whose street food has made it famous.

Jakarta
WHAT WE GOT UP TO:
National Monument:
One of a handful of public spaces in Jakarta, at the centre of Merdeka Square is Indonesia’s National Monument, a 132m tower built to commemorate the country’s struggle for independence.
Plaza Indonesia and Grand Indonesia:
Some very fancy shopping malls where the air con is ICE COLD and a sure-fire way of keeping us there. We spent four hours looking at luxury clothing we couldn’t afford, drinking coffee and eating food.
––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
Yogyakarta
WHAT WE GOT UP TO:
Next Door Homestay:
Situated in the Parangtritis area, this lovely little homestay has to get a special mention as we spent 90% of our time here! Andre and his family were lovely and helped with everything whilst providing a friendly and familiar face to come home to. The intimate pool was just what we needed to get the Jakarta pollution off us.
The breakfast was 10/10 too and brought to our terrace everyday. Just perfect.
Water Palace:
After lolling around our homestay for too long we had to do something! We’d decided to skip Borobudur and Prambanan temples due to the sheer amount of numbers for sunrise they attract. Instead we walked around Yogyakarta’s shaded alleys and visited the Water Temple. If you do visit make sure you keep a sense of caution as scammers surround this area trying to tell you that the palace is closed/sell you other things.
The palace is very small but quaint. It’s 15,000 rupiah per person (less than £1) and fills up an hour of the day.
Don’t forget to comment and like our videos if you think they’re great and comment and dislike if you think they’re not so great - we love all comments! ????????

A Tourist's Guide to Jakarta, Indonesia 2019
I decide to get on my moped, brave the notorious traffic, to see the sights of Jakarta. First stop is Chinatown, then Batavia Square, the Dutch colonial centre. I drive up to the harbour to see the old (but still used) wooden boats. Day one ends in Central Jakarta, home of the glitz and glamourous skyscrapers, 5-star hotels and shopping malls.
Day 2, I get back on my bike, joined by a friend, and we see the monumental Monas Monument, a towering remembrance of Indonesian independence. Close by is Jakarta Cathedral and the Istiqlal Mosque, the largest mosque in South East Asia.
I also take time to hand over a bribe to a policeman!

We Travel To Jakarta, Indonesia ( Staying For 12 Hours )????????
We spent 12 hours in Jakarta, the huge capital of Indonesia. Here is everything we got up to. We started off at fav hotel in central Jakarta, From there, we went to Pasar Baru. This place was really nice and you can find cheap Batik, cheap cloths here and some other stuffs. It's a bit crowded normally from what locals said, but we arrived on Monday night so it was not as crowded as we expected it to be.
Pasar Baru is one of old market in Jakarta. People usually come here to buy clothes, cameras, shoes, and for culinary. There are some hidden culinary places here, located in the alley. This long, narrow street is lined with all sorts of fabric stores, tailors and general cheap clothing outlets, along with stalls of the usual Asian fare of knock off watches, leather goods, fruit & veg. What's really lacking is street food and cafes but it is still amazing to walk around and see the culture.
The common indonesian street food we found in Pasar Baru is Kerak Telor, which is a Betawi traditional spicy omelette dish in Indonesian cuisine. It is made from glutinous rice cooked with egg and served with serundeng, fried shallots and dried shrimp as topping. It is considered as a snack and not as a main dish in Indonesia, and definitely a must eat when you come visiting Jakarta.
