Horse-Drawn Carriage Tour of Vienna
Hello Hoppers! One of the highlights of our visit to Vienna was taking a carriage tour of the city. It was so beautiful and romantic. It's a great way to get a quick and comfortable view of the Old Town. Just make sure you are not allergic to horses.

horse drawn carriage driving along on a Vienna city street in Vienna, Austria
This shows a horse drawn carriage driving along a Vienna, Austria city street on Sunday, July 9, 2017. I captured this scene near the Spanish Riding School Lippizaner Stables but have no idea if there is any connection. Saw a bunch of carriages like this parked in front of Schönbrunn Palace so you can probably find them all over town. Have no idea what the cost to ride would be.

Lohnkutschen is about 300 years old and comes from Paris. Around 1720 the name Fiaker was born in Vienna. A Fiaker called the carriage (coach), the team (2 horses) and the driver (coachman).
Today, Fiakers are hired in Vienna for their romantic and nostalgic charisma for city tours and wedding trips. There are currently about 30-40 Fiaker in Vienna. A Fiaker round trip must not be missing in any visit to Vienna.
