Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, or RPI, is a private research university located in Troy, New York, with two additional campuses in Hartford and Groton, Connecticut. It was founded in 1824 by Stephen van Rensselaer and Amos Eaton for the application of science to the common purposes of life and is the oldest technological university in the English-speaking world. Built on a hillside, RPI's 275-acre (111 ha) campus overlooks the city of Troy and the Hudson River and is a blend of traditional and modern architecture. The institute operates an on‑campus business incubator and the 1,250-acre (510 ha) Rensselaer Technology Park. Numerous American colleges or departments of applied sciences were modeled after Rensselaer. The university is one among a small group of polytechnic universities in the United States which tend to be primarily devoted to the instruction of technical arts and applied sciences.
Rensselaer is organized into six main schools within which there are thirty-seven departments: the School of Architecture; School of Engineering; School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences; School of Information Technology and Web Science; School of Science; and the Lally School of Management & Technology. The university offers around one hundred forty degree programs in sixty fields leading to bachelor's, master's, and doctorate degrees.

UTRGV Men's Basketball Adds St. Bonaventure Transfer Ndene Gueye
Jan. 18, 2018 – EDINBURG, Texas – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Men’s Basketball Head Coach Lew Hill announced on Thursday the signing of 6-10, 230-pound junior forward Ndene Gueye, who started the season at St. Bonaventure, to a scholarship agreement.
Gueye joins the team for the spring 2018 semester and becomes eligible to play following the conclusion of the fall 2018 semester as per NCAA transfer regulations.
“We’re very familiar with Ndene. We recruited him really hard last year,” Hill said. “He decided he wanted to come here because he was comfortable with us, and we’re pleased to have him. He’s a big, strong, athletic post player.”
Gueye played in five games for St. Bonaventure this season, scoring three points with five rebounds and two steals in 17 minutes.
Gueye played his first two seasons at Kilgore Community College in Midland. Last season, Gueye averaged 14.6 points on .639 shooting, 8.4 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in 27 games. He ranked sixth in NJCAA Region XIV in rebounding and ninth in blocked shots
As a freshman, Gueye averaged 7.3 points on .539 shooting, 5.3 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game.
Originally from Dakar, Senegal, Gueye came to the United States as part of the Sports for Education and Economic Development (SEED) Academy in 2011, the same year he started playing basketball.
Gueye then had the opportunity to attend Redemption Christian Academy in Troy, N.Y., from which he graduated in 2015.
Until he is able to play, Gueye will be an active participant in UTRGV practices.
“He’s going to bring physicality, scoring in the post and rebounding,” Hill said. “Now I want to get him looking to block every shot while he’s sitting out this year.”
