REYKJAVIK IS STRANGE - Iceland - Leonard Does Europe S1 E4
After a morning at The Blue Lagoon, we spent a few hours exploring Reykjavik. It's a small city, so it was easy to walk around the whole downtown area on foot. In what would become a common theme in Europe, the nachos were not very good.

All the times we went broke in Iceland:
Swimming in the Secret Lagoon Hot Spring in Iceland:
**Everywhere we went in three days in Iceland
First off, rent a car. It's $40-50 per day, and you'll want to explore the mountains and waterfalls you pass along the way.
We skipped the main touristic route, The Golden Circle, and opted for the second most touristic route, the Ring Road (haha). It's the main highway road that does the loop of Iceland.
+ Reykjavík: Yep, pretty expensive. Eat out of supermarkets like Bonus or Kronin.
+ Reykjadalur Hot Spring Thermal River: Park ycar and hike one h(on a paved path) through the rolling green hills to arrive at a natural hot spring where locals and tourists are all bathing. It was more scenic and completely free, which is why we liked this better than the Secret Lagoon.
+ Secret Lagoon Hot Spring: the cheaper, yet still expensive ($27) alternative to the Blue Lagoon, where the minimum ticket costs $60. We didn't visit the Blue Lagoon due to the fact that all the tickets were sold out. Ok, and also cuz it was $60. The Secret Lagoon doesn't have the iconic blue milky water, but it's still a sight to see (and they allow alcohol as well).
+ Fjaðrárgljúfur: green canyon that is straight from ylaptop's screensaver. The canyon itself is beautiful, although there isn't much to do apart from admire the view.
+ Solheimasandur: a plane wreck from the 1970s. When we read on the internet that it takes nearly two hours round-trip to get to and from, we brushed it off, but it literally takes nearly two hours, even if you speed-walk like a stepmom.

From the user-friendly capital, Reykjavík, we'll day-trip to the Blue Lagoon lava-rock spa, the Golden Circle, and the volcanic South Coast. Then we'll drive around the country's perimeter on the 800-mile Ring Road, which links bubbling thermal springs, jagged volcanic peaks, fjordside towns, and dreamy glacial lagoons.
