OLD VILLAGE IN GUANGZHOU CHINA
This was a 300+ y.o. mostly abandoned village we were taken to on our trip to Guangzhou China.
fisher place in guangzhou harbour
Took the Metro Line 8 and got off at Wanshengwei station, exit B and turned right and walked about 100 metres to the bus stop. Then took bus 229 for three stops (usual 2 RMB to the bus village's bus station.
Followed the crowd into the village.
Lots of snack bars, restaurants and shops selling local fruit, vegetables, poultry and fish. All very countryside and photogenic. Plenty of signs to the 'HuangPu Ancient Port Museum' and indeed all the other village's attractions but we'd come for the museum but it was the museum for us as this area is steeped in history related to the British in China.
The museum is open Tuesday to Sunday and with last entrance at 4 o'clock. Free admission but that may have been a special for Chinese New Year. Staff didn't seem too interested in searching our bags. I saw an English language leaflet in a display cabinet at the exit but the security guard either didn't have the key or was too bone idle to open it.
Anyway no need for it as nearly everything has a really good English caption. Lots of photographs and maps but little in the way of artifacts. A good display about the Swedish East India Company, a visit from their King and Queen was probably in 2006 responsible for this.
A good hour and a half to stroll round and read everything.Very interesting for this history buff but bored the pants of the locals who'd come in to get out of the rain. Not only trade but how western culture and medicine fared in China.
No gift shop, cafe or toilets much to my wife's chagrin.
Left the museum and turned right and walked about 200 metres and found the Goteborg memorial to commemorate the Swedish visit, easily found as it's next to the 'restroom'.
Easy to image the harbour with a few Western sailing ships floating in it. The old harbour is still there, you walk past it as you approach the museum but you have to look for it.

Beijing China Travel Guide - Magical Mix of History and Future
Guangzhou or Canton (广州) , the capital of Guangdong Province, is the third largest city in China after Beijing and Shanghai with a population of more than 12 million. Founded in 214 BC, the city has been a springboard for trading, cultural exchanges, many revolutions and reforms, making it an unavoidable stopover to understand what shapes the modern China.
Guangzhou's isolation from the rest of 'typical China' by mountainous topography and early exposure to the outside world has resulted in its unique way of lifestyle, liberal ideas, distinctive cuisine and tremendous wealth. It is no surprise that Guangzhou is a cradle of many reforms and revolutions that changed the fate of China forever. Today Guangzhou still unveils many republic-era sights that help travelers understand modern Chinese history.
Founded in 214 BC, this capital of the richest province is always a mix of new and old. It not only boasts some of the oldest temples in China, a millenarian-old park, an imperial tomb of a southern kingdom and complete preservation of colonial villas and church on Shamian, but it also serves as a showcase of futuristic architectures and autopilot metro on Zhujiang New Town.
Despite its vibrant sight-seeing resources, travelers usually come to Guangzhou to shop and eat. Guangzhou accommodates countless huge markets specializing in almost any made-in-china products, including Chinese tea, herbs, garments, watches, electronics and toys. You will be appalled to see the real prices of those China-made products and the profit your local shops earn by selling them.
Guangzhou is divided into ten districts. Among them, Yuexiu and Liwan, the cradle for the Cantonese culture, has been the city center since the imperial era. Tianhe, which was a farming village decades ago, has been constructed into a new business center with some biggest shopping malls and highest skyscrapers in the city.
For travelers, the most useful road is Zhongshan Road, a 9 KM long highway horizontally cutting through the downtown of Guangzhou. The highway is divided into 8 sections. From Zhongshan 6 Road (中山六路)to Zhongshan 8 Road (中山八路) it covers around 80% tourist attractions and all famous restaurants. This area is well connected by Metro Line 1 from Changshou Lu (長壽路), Chen Clan Academy (陈家祠), Ximenkou(西门口) to Gongyuanqian (公园前)
Yuexiu (越秀 Yuèxiù) — The Zhongshan 6 Road area, which covers the original area of Yuexiu before its expansion in the 2005, has been the very core since 214 AD. Tourist highlights include the colonial Shamian Island, Xiguan Old Houses, Xiangxiajiu shopping Street, Liziwan Lake Park and Chen's Clan Academy.
Tianhe (天河 Tiānhé) is the business district, thriving with many skyscrapers and shopping malls. The newly developed Zhujiang New Town (珠江新城) is a showcase of futuristic urban planning and avant-garde architecture.
Haizhu (海珠'Hǎizhū') — At the south of the Pearl River, the former industrial district has transformed into more residential and business today. It is home to the city's latest landmark Canton Tower and the South Campus of Sun Yat-Sen University
Panyu (番禺 Pānyú) is an area getting more popular among local tourists. Its Lianhua Mountain boosts 100,000 blooming lotus flower and sits a huge Bodhisattva Guanyin statue.
Baiyun (白云 Báiyún) — This district is where the old airport is located. The Baiyun Mountain is a major attraction.
Huangpu (黄埔 Huángpǔ) is home to Huangpu Military Academy.
Nansha (南沙 Nánshā) is a newly developed area at the southern tip of the city.
Luogang (萝岗 Luógǎng) is famous for its plum forest and Tianlu Lake Forest Park.
Huadu (花都 Huādū) is where the New Baiyun International Airport is located.

Zhujiajiao,Venice of Shanghai - Trip to China part 47 - Full HD travel video
Zhujiajiao Water Town near Shanghai is a popular tourist location. People go there to see the old buildings, shop, and eat in the many restaurants and coffee shops.
In the centuries past Zhujiajiao was a trading area due to the many canals, which were used to ferry products along in little boats and barges. Boats are still very much part of the charm of the place. Now young people and those who want to unwind after a day's work go there from Shanghai to relax.

CHINA, visiting Xi'an and Nanjing in 1986 (2)
Sequel to the previous clip. Visits to pagodas, temples, pavilions in Nanjing, before known as Nanking. It is the capital of Jiangsu province in eastern China and of Xi'an, the capital of Shaanxi province, the starting point of the Silk Road and home to the Terracotta Army of Emperor Qin Shi Huang.[1] Its previous name was Chang'an . Correction: viewers reminded me that the Goose temple is in Xian instead of Nanjing. The movie also shows Shanxi museum which is also in Xian, followed by Huaqing hot springs, followed by Xi'an bell tower and drum tower.

THE BUND SHANGHAI | EATING CANTONESE FOOD & CHINA'S BEST WATER TOWN
The Bund Shanghai at night was one of my favourite things to do in Shanghai when we first visited. So when I organised our year 5 residential trip to Shanghai, that had to be one of the first things we did.
This is a Shanghai Vlog of us traveling to Shanghai on the Chinese speed train, taking a river cruise on the Huangpu River at night and seeing The Bund; all lit up and beautiful.
The following day we headed to ZhouZhuang; China's best water town (officially) and enjoyed some Zhuanpan styled food. Later that day, I also enjoyed some Cantonese food, including my favourite; sweet and sour chicken!
We finished the day watching the Chinese Circus in Shanghai named Shanghai Circus World. The acrobatics is impressive and I had a great first day in Shanghai, China.
The following day, we headed to Shanghai Disneyland, which you will see in the next vlog - so keep an eye out for more Shanghai videos soon!
