Join Ashley and Me as we explore Minneapolis to dig up some of the Filming Locations to the Mary Tyler Moore Show!
In the show, Mary's apartment home address was 119 N Weatherly Ave, Apt D. The actual home is located at 2104 Kenwood Ave and is for sale!
The Lake Mary is walking by is Lake of The Isles.
The location that many of the shots from the opening montage of Mary shopping are located at the IDS Building in downtown Minneapolis. This is where she went shopping, rode the escalator, had lunch, and walked around. Nicollet Ave and 7th Street in downtown Minneapolis.
Basil's Restaurant is located here as well. Be sure to ask for the Mary Tyler Moore Table!
Mary worked in the Snyder Building. In real life, it is the Midwest Federal Savings And Loan, located a block south of the IDS Center on Nicollet Mall. Built in 1969, it rises up 275 feet high supporting 20 stories.
the famous statute of Mary Richards tossing her hat was donated by TV Land cable TV network. It is normally located on Nicollet Mall, the pedestrian mall that takes the place of Nicollet Ave in downtown Minneapolis. Mary is normally located at the southwest corner of 7th and Nicollet, across the street from the IDS Center.
The Statue is now located at the Minneapolis Visitor Information Center. 505 Nicollet Mall #100, Minneapolis, MN 55402 due to construction on Nicollet st.

We went to Minneapolis during Christmas. That was surprisingly fun! I was thinking it gonna be boring and cold, but that was not at all! They have the biggest mall around USA. Make sure you visit it mall if you go there. Hope you guys enjoy it! Happy holidays!

Otis/Schindler Traction Elevators - IDS Center - Minneapolis, Minnesota
This is one of many traction elevators in the IDS Tower in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This accesses floor 51, which I believe is the highest floor accessible to the public (though whatever offices are up there are private). I have heard that these were originally Westinghouse, then modernized by Otis at some point, and maybe even modernized again by Schindler (at least the floor chimes sound like Schindler to me). Either way, these are some really nice, and fast elevators!

I was arrested by the Foshay Tower police and will now spend the rest of my years chained to a rusty antenna.
The Foshay Tower was the first skyscraper built in the state of Minnesota and remained the tallest building in Minneapolis from 1929-1971. The Foshay Tower is significant to Minneapolis and the State of Minnesota not only as a unique example of architectural design and engineering, but as a prominent reminder of the taste and expression of conspicous consumption which was felt throughout the United States during the economic boom years of the 1920s.

Its hard to believe this channel existed back in 1988. It didn't last long but was a pioneer in the ME-TV Antenna Television, TV Land type channels.
These amazing clips aired on July 11th, 1985. They appeared during a broadcast of the TV show 12 O'clock High on KXLI Channel 41 in Minneapolis, MN. KLXI was an independent station in the Twin Cities. They branded themselves TV Heaven a prototype for the future TV Land featuring old series television from the 50s and 60s.
