Driving Around the Southwest Side of Lake Tahoe, Emerald Bay
At the end of my day in the Lake Tahoe area, I was looking for a good place to view the lake and enjoy a sunset. I ended up discovering that there aren't many places where you can actually see the lake! From South Lake Tahoe, I drove up to Sugar Pine Point State Park, then back to Bliss State Park (where they demanded $10 for me to stay for five minutes and take a picture of the lake), and then I drove back to Eagle Falls.
MyDrivelapse.com and Takemytrip.com provide driving videos and stories to help you plan your trip. Check out hundreds of videos on my YouTube channel. Subscribe if you like it! Dozens of new videos are on the way in the coming weeks.
I made this trip in June 2018. Video shot with a Brinno TLC-200 Pro time-lapse camera mounted on my roof with a homemade magnetic case. I travel with two Brinno cameras - one facing forward, the other in reverse. Sometimes the reverse camera captures better video (fewer raindrops and bugs hit the rear-view lens).

Lake Tahoe Communities - Welcome To Lake Tahoe
Our goal is to create a better understanding and knowledge of the many unique communities that comprise what visitors know simply as “Lake Tahoe”, while upon a closer look, is actually a composition of many unique and wonderful areas, each with their own true identity, characteristics, history and amenities.
In recalling the fabled line “you can’t have it all”, we respectfully disagree. In Tahoe, indeed we do have it all! Yes, the beauty and splendor of the largest alpine lake in North America is reason enough, however, if a life lived outdoors in all seasons appeals to you then, we’re sure you’ll agree.

The Camp Richardson neighborhood of South Lake Tahoe, CA
Camp Richardson is one of the most historic areas on the South Shore of Lake Tahoe.
Reminiscent of a time gone by, this resort area is home to year round activities as well as opportunities for relaxing. The Tallac Historic Site is located here and one can stroll through the site and enjoy what the residents and visitors did in the late 1800's and early 1900's. This area has campgrounds, cabins, restaurants, a marina, local store, activity rentals and much more.
Home ownership in this area is quite rare and opportunities to buy property are few and far between. Since there are very few homes in Camp Richardson, living here puts you in an exclusive group. This area is mainly comprised of lakefront homes just south of the Tallac Historic Site.

Legendary Lakefront Estate in Crystal Bay, Nevada
Presented by Sierra Sotheby's International Realty
For more information go to
Once owned by Howard Hughes, this legendary lakefront estate is located on a highly coveted, wind-sheltered cove on Lake Tahoe's North Shore in Crystal Bay, Nevada, Summertide offers an exceptional opportunity to own a beautifully renovated log home with grand lake views, a water's edge guest house cottage, detached four-car garage building, and manicured grounds. The main house was built from timber sourced nearby circa 1934 and the guesthouse was added to the estate circa 1940. Perched atop a bluff overlooking 500 feet of shoreline below, Summertide has its own pier, boatlift and mooring buoy facilities. Additionally, history, celebrity, and legend are associated with this lakefront estate compound.
The combined square footage of the main house and guest cottage is approximately 3,800 square feet, which includes seven bedrooms and six and a half baths indicative of the Old Tahoe Lodge charm associated with this estate.
Summertide is poised for a dramatic transformation, as it is envisioned by the talented team of Keith Kelly, of Kelly & Stone Architects, Kevin Agan, of Agan Consulting Corporation, and John Brink, of Brink Custom Homes. It only awaits a discerning individual or group who can take advantage of this exceptional opportunity to preserve the current building and pursue the development of a large custom compound or partially redevelop the estate to add numerous lakefront and lake view homes. The estate sits on five and a half acres and currently the house, guest cottage and garage are spread across three of the many parcels.
