This city is found at the South side of the country, just 65 Km away from the Black Sea and Russia.The Ingul River runs in front of Mikolaiv. The city can be named as: Mikolaiv or Nikolaev. There are close to 500,000 people living in the city and it's area is 253 Square Km. Amazingly the first setlements in the are date from 20,000 years ago. the late bronze age. But the city of Miklolaiv has about 300 years of antiquity. Beautiful place and rich culture . their Zoo is one of the oldest in the region. it's people has a big influence from the Neighbor country Russia. but never the less; Mykolaiv retains it's own identity and pride of many centuries of tradition and cultural strength. I highly recommend to visit this city if you go to Odessa.
Ukraine River Turns Green: Officials claim the colour change is due to a special additive
An emerald river in the city centre. The river Ingul in Kirovohrad in central Ukraine suddenly changed its colour to green. An unexpected alteration resulted in a good deal of rumours. Among them - the emission of dangerous chemicals which threaten everyone.
Ingul turned green two days ago. Now its waters are similar to an emerald colour. Although there is no specific chemical smell, the locals insist - it is chemicals that have turned the river green. This woman witnessed the colour change. Now she is sure the dangerous substance killed the river fauna.

They floated on the surface, though the crawfish does not do that in normal conditions. Some children gathered these fry over there.
While some people are afraid of the unusual colour, others prefer not to pay any attention to it. This fisherman says today there has been no biting. Otherwise he would not hesitate to eat the fish.
Yuriy Gorbatyuk, fisherman:
I have been eating it for 15 years already. No need to worry. I think it is because of the algae.
So do the local officials who claim there is no danger at all. The river has turned green because of the food colorant. The authoritires added some to detect the hole in the nearby dam.

We need to know where the hole is in the hydraulic construciton. To detect it, we have added special stuff.
Even if it is true, the city residents cannot grasp why noone warned them beforehand. The officials do not comment on the topic. The diver team will start exploring the problematic construction on Friday. They promise Ingul will not change its colour again.

Город с 1775 года, в середине XIX — начале XX веков Елисаветград пережил «золотой век» — развивалась промышленность, расцвела культура, в частности, здесь был открыт первый украинский профессиональный театр. В 1939 году город стал центром Кировоградской области. Сейчас промышленный комплекс 250-тысячного Кировограда насчитывает около 70 предприятий, город имеет развитую социальную инфраструктуру, многочисленные учреждения образования и культуры.

Now the industrial complex of 250 thousand Kirovograd has about 70 enterprises, the city has a developed social infrastructure, numerous educational and cultural institutions.
