Inhassoro is a small fishing village and is the closest mainland town to the Bazaruto archipelago with very easy access. The village is about 95 km north of Vilanculo and can be reached with an ordinary vehicle. The islands shelter the sea at Inhassoro and small boats can safely launch in the calm seas. Hotel Seta is situated on the beachfront overlooking the Island in the distance. The hotel has a dining and entertainment area adjacent to well stocked bar set under large shady trees. Accommodation on offer consists of neat en-suite chalets and guests are catered for in the restaurant. Hotel Seta also offers an impressive camping area set under beautiful old trees right on the beach. The campsite has running water, toilets and showers. Inhassoro offers a variety of water activities including deep-sea fishing, scuba diving, snorkeling, water skiing as well as charters to the islands.
Maxixe lies across the bay from Inhambane and is a popular stopover with travelers en route to Beira. Campismo de Maxixe is situated between the main road and the beach, overlooking the bay. The neat caravan and camping sites are set amongst shady trees with neat ablutions offering hot and cold water. The bungalows and beach houses offer good value to the traveler. The camp also has a restaurant that serves mouth-watering Portuguese dishes.

Driving from Harare Zimbabwe to the beaches of Inhassoro Mozambique
It's a 10-20 hour drive from Harare Zimbabwe to the beaches of Mozambique, depending on which way you go and how much you stop along the way.
We took 3 SUVs and tried to cross the border at a remote border that not many people use. It was an extra hour out of the way, but we saved that time by not being stuck at a super busy border crossing.
I loved it! It was a true African adventure and I go to see so much of Eastern Zimbabwe, including the ancient forest.
Here is a short video that sums up the full day of driving from Harare to Inhassoro Mozambique to get to the beach.
The roads in Mozambique are not built very well and are barely a strip of tar over clay ground. There are huge potholes everywhere and it was easier to drive on the clay shoulder than it was on the official road.
The entire road trip was like Mad Max Thunderdome, with any rules of the road completely disregarded.
One reason our trip took so long was that one of the cars in our caravan didn't know about some special paperwork for the vehicle that was needed to cross the border. So, we spent an hour or so at the border crossing between Zimbabwe and Mozambique trying to sort that out.
It was a gorgeous border crossing though and overlooked tea fields. The guards were very nice and even let me take pictures (which you should NEVER do in Africa otherwise).
