MUN Mod 10 St John's
We did 29 different modules for Memorial University. Each between 4-5 minutes long. This one is what St. John's is like for new students and faculty. We wanted to use the energy and vitality of the people the study, work and teach at the university to highlight what a dynamic and unique place it is. Forget the bricks and mortar, university is about people and passion. We think we were able to capture that and these videos have been very well received.

Hydrodynamic Testing of the SQX-500 AUV
The SQX-500 is a compact, light-weight, Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) designed for search and survey applications in coastal waters up to 500 meters in depth. It is a hydro-dynamically stable platform designed for reliable performance and low lifecycle cost.

Hydrodynamic modeling and resistance testing of an 88% scale model version of the SQX-500 were performed at the National Research Council's Institute for Ocean Technology facility, in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada. Specifically, tests were performed in the Towing Tank, a 200 m x 12 m x 7 m tank with a carriage capable of speeds up to 10 m/s, as well as wave and wind generation.

Nonhuman animals, formerly defined as moveable goods, were redefined in Quebec in 2015 as sentient beings with biological imperatives. The physical and mental well-being of animals may no longer be put at risk (with two exceptions: agricultural use and scientific/medical/educational use). The first test case is animal use in sport. I present evidence from 20 Quebec rodeos (a total of 3 x 45 hours of video data, and many hundreds of hours of close analysis) that the physical and mental well-being of calves, bulls and horses is put at risk in virtually every trial in every rodeo event. The results are particularly striking as Quebec reportedly has the mildest rodeos in North America.

In this in-depth talk, ethnographer and leadership expert Simon Sinek reveals the hidden dynamics that inspire leadership and trust. In biological terms, leaders get the first pick of food and other spoils, but at a cost. When danger is present, the group expects the leader to mitigate all threats even at the expense of their personal well-being. Understanding this deep-seated expectation is the key difference between someone who is just an authority versus a true leader.
