International Peace Garden in Utah DJI Mavic Pro
The International Peace Gardens is a botanical garden located in Jordan Park in Salt Lake City, Utah. Part of Utah's history, the garden was conceived in 1939 and dedicated in 1952
The gardens comprise 11 acres and are located in Jordan Park along the banks of the Jordan River at 9th West and 10th South in Salt Lake.
They symbolize the true spirit of democracy and world peace, brotherly love, history, literature and cultural heritage of many lands.
The project was initiated in 1939 by Mrs. Otto Wiesley, Citizenship Chair, for good citizenship and to give foreign origin groups a specific part in the beautification of the City for the coming Centennial Celebration of 1947. It was presented to the City Commission and the Parks department and was given their approval and support.
The garden project was stopped before anything was planted because of the onset of World War II, but was resumed in 1947.
Each of the nationality groups is allotted a garden section which they design, create and plant at their own expense. Plans have to be approved by the City Parks Director before they are implemented. As each garden is completed, it is dedicated and presented to the City, who then assumes the permanent maintenance of the garden.
The United States became the first country represented in the gardens. It's section is the largest of the sections representing countries from the Americas, Europe, Africa and Asia. The second section to be organized, planted and dedicated was the Japanese garden. Others followed every year until there were 28 countries represented with others who would like to have a garden, but unfortunately space ran out. Land has opened up on the northwest side of the gardens across the river and has been deeded to the City by Union Pacific and we hope to obtain it to expand the gardens.
Past Presidents and Council delegates act as hostesses each Sunday from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. from the first Sunday in June through September to talk with visitors and identify points of interest. Starting in 1964, on the third Saturday of August each year, a festival is held with representatives of various groups dancing and singing traditional songs, dressed in native costumes and serving authentic cuisine and boutique items. The event is family oriented and admission is free.
There are only two peace gardens in the United States - one in North Dakota on the Canadian border and our own here in Salt Lake City.
The gardens are truly a place of peace. People from all over the United States and some foreign countries stop to enjoy a quiet moment and admire the beauty of the gardens. It is estimated over 20,000 people visit each year.

International Peace Garden of North Dakota/Manitoba
Along the border between North Dakota and Manitoba, groups will find the International Peace Garden, an oasis of beauty nestled in the Turtle Mountains, as much a celebration of peace as natural beauty.
The 2,339-acre site spans the border between Dunseith, N.D., and Boissevian, Manitoba. It was built in 1932 as a symbol of freedom and has expanded in the ensuing decades. The most recent additions include an interpretive center, 9/11 Memorial Garden and a $2 million updating of the landscaping.

My Last Trip Day in State of Utah
In this last episode of my trip to the beautiful State of Utah, I am leaving my hotel room in early morning when sky is still dark and drive for forty five minutes from City of Moab to get to Canyonlands National Park for seeing the sunrise over canyon. The moment of sunrise over the canyon was breathtaking and spectacular. The peace was ruling the entire canyon. I’ve never had such an incredible feeling before. Canyonlands National Park is a great destination for hikers and visitors to find such incredible unique canyons formed over million years of erosion and rock formation. There are multiple destinations and trailheads to start a good day hike. One of the famous landmarks of Canyonlands National Park is Mesa Arch on top of a 500 feet (152 meter) cliff with the overlook of Buck Canyon. By looking through the arch, a great keyhole view of the White Rim country can be seen. During sunrise, a great reflection of sunlight will glow the bottom of arch which adds-up to its beauty.
Island in the Sky is another stop in Canyonlands National Park which gives a different overlook and perspective on Canyonlands National Park spectacular landscape and the Colorado River. This river as a masterpiece art creator, formed the canyons over million of the years.
While visiting that area, it would be a great idea to make a stop at Dead Horse Point State Park to have a great viewpoint at 2000 feet (600 meter) above a gooseneck in the Colorado River. This state park is a continues land from the Canyonlands National Park with less than twenty minutes driving distance.
As my last stop before I conclude my trip, I went to Arches National Park in Moab not too far from Canyonlands. The driving experience through the Arches National Park on Arches Scenic Drive is super amazing. The rock formations and arches spread over desert of Utah. There are several great hiking trails with great rewarding points. Landmarks such as Balanced Rock, The Devils Garden, and Delicate Arch are some to name.
In the afternoon, I hit the road to east for getting to Denver in Colorado since my return flight back home was from there.

East West Martial Arts of Utah at Hogle Zoo 2013
East West Martial Arts in Salt Lake City, UT is proud to be a sponsor of Hogle Zoo's conservation efforts of the zoo's five Amur tigers. Did you know that all subspecies of tiger are endangered including:
Amur (Siberian), Indian, Sumatran and Indo-Chinese. The South Chinese tiger is thought to be extinct in the wild (2002) although there are some individuals in captivity. The Caspian, Javan, and Bali tiger subspecies are thought to be extinct. Hogle Zoo, along with other Zoos from around the world, takes part in the Species Survival Plan (SSP) for Amur tigers. As a part of this plan, zoos help conserve tigers by maintaining their genetic diversity through selective breeding.
SSP programs focus on animals that are in danger of extinction in the wild, when zoo conservationists believe captive breeding programs may be their only chance to survive. These programs also help maintain healthy and genetically diverse animal populations within the zoo community. AZA accredited zoos and AZA conservation partners that are involved in SSP programs engage in cooperative population management and conservation efforts that include research, public education, reintroduction, and in situ or field conservation projects. There are currently 172 species covered by 116 SSP programs in North America.
The Zoo currently houses five Amur tigers.
Kazek (male): born July 14, 2003 at the Philadelphia Zoo came to Hogle Zoo in 2006.
