Μάτω Ιωαννίδου - Mato Ioannidou : GENEALOGY ΓΕΝΕΑΛΟΓΙΑ Αίθουσα Τέχνης «αγκάθι -κartάλος»
GENEALOGY
1. One unit of miniature drawings-study of the face.
Reason: portraits of Greco in the The Burial of the Count of Orgaz. When you observe the expressions of faces in the forenamed work, you recognize all possible existential stances of people vis-à-vis death: despite the enormous changes mankind has been subjected to through time, the underlying core of its existence is recognizable. If you remove the clothing, which is typical of that era, both Fayum mummy portraits and the portraits of Rembrandt lead to the same conclusion.
Their look reflects something topical.
I attempted to copy these portraits as simply as possible. I drew persons of my social milieu live and myself based on photos. By offering many drawings together in small sections, what I am trying to do is make the spectator's eye meet that of the portrayed persons disregarding the time separating them.
2. Faces - Monotypes
Due to my obsession with simplicity in my expressive means, colour in the 2nd section of faces-monotypes adds emotional intensity while detecting an archetypal touch, thus avoiding realism.
3. Faces of Refugees
The same approach vis-à-vis the face includes faces of refugees, mainly children, drawing material from topical photos, which actually put our meaning of life and faith in life itself to the test today.
In an era flooded by pictures, loose commitments and gloomy everyday life, meeting the eye of the other person and the creative act of man, in which the body also participates - which in my case is painting - may give us hope that the end of humanity is not approaching.

The Erasers: Road to Knowhere - 19 July 2015 at Greek Festival
Road to Knowhere
an audiovisual road movie
In 2040 Extreme Law in cooperation with Empire Entertainment films and releases Road to Knowherean educational propaganda film to be shown as part of the ceremonies commemorating the construction of the “Solidarity Solution”. The film is set in, what was known then as, the European Union and specifically in the period of time that begins in the summer of 2015. The plot of the film centers around a road trip taken from the southernmost city of Rome, through the outskirts of Paris and into the heart of Berlin ‐right before one of the most pivotal events of contemporary history, now known as The Long Night.
Road to Knowhereis a performance based on the filming of this propaganda film.
A car sits motionless, the performers trapped, haunted in a place that is found somewhere in between a lost past and ever fading future. Travelling without moving amidst a landscape of memories, camping equipment, fading billboards, talk radio, tourist postcards, gas stations, a gun in the glove compartment and a trunk full of canned beers and cheap chips.
___
Founded in 2006, The Erasers is an Athens ‐Berlin based performance company that creates audiovisual productions with the aim to extend the boundaries of theater.
The Erasers’ productions blend stage performance, real time cinematics, text, video, sound, and internet to tell stories about human experience in the 21st century. The combination of these diverse elements is based on The Erasers search for a new audiovisual language.
The Erasers goal is to create an overall experience, a new «open» work, in which the audience can be immersed and yet have the freedom of interpretation.
