Tsushima - Beautiful island in Nagasaki Prefecture
Tsushima(対馬) is an island of the Japanese archipelago and located between the Japanese mainland and the Korean Peninsula. The island offers a rich nature and a beautiful cultural history that is still present these days. There are countless things to see and to enjoy at Tsushima, for example, a Torii (Shrine entrance gate) which is completely surrounded by water, enjoying nature on a sea kayaking trip, delicious food, etc.Our Taiwanese presenter Chien Chien fully enjoyed her trip. The access is easy, and it only takes 35min by airplane from Fukuoka Airport. Alternatively, you can also go there from Hakata Port by boat.

Ohori Park in Fukuoka City
Ohori Park (大濠公園) is a pleasant city park in central Fukuoka with a large pond at its center. There is a walking path around the circumference of the pond that is just a bit over 2km long and is popular for jogging, walking pets and leisurely strolls by the water.
Ohori is Japanese for moat, and the pond at the center of the park once served as part of the moat system of the neighboring Fukuoka Castle. The park was constructed between 1926 and 1929 and designed after the classical garden style of the West Lake in China. There are three islands in the middle of the pond that are connected to the mainland and each other by elegant stone bridges.

A Walk Through Tenjin Central Park in Fukuoka Japan
Cherry Blossoms in bloom on this Sunday walk. It appears families have reserved spots (roped off and numbered) for picnic areas. Even though there is a lot of people here, it is quite and very peaceful. I'm unsure if this is done every Sunday, or just because it's the first weekend of the cherry blossoms bloom.

The park was constructed between 1926 and 1929 and designed after the classical garden style of the West Lake in China. There are three islands in the middle of the pond that are connected to the mainland and each other by elegant stone bridges.
Directly adjacent to the pond at its southeastern corner is the Fukuoka Art Museum. The museum was opened in 1979 and has a permanent collection that includes Buddhist statues dating back to the 11th century and paintings and sculptures by modern artists like Miro and Dali. Besides the permanent collection, the museum also holds a variety of special temporary exhibitions.
A few steps south of the museum visitors will come across the Ohori Park Japanese Garden which, in contrast to the rest of the park, charges a small entrance fee. Here visitors can see typical features of Japanese gardens like dry landscapes and tea houses. The Gokoku Shrine is located across the street about 150 meters to the southeast. The path to the shrine leads under a massive torii gate and the main shrine building is a unique gold structure situated in front of a spacious yard.
How to get there
Ohori Park is a few steps from Ohori Koen Subway Station (10 minutes, 260 yen from Hakata Station).

水前寺成趣園・ 熊本 Suizenji-Park Kumamoto JAPAN
Suizenji Jōju-en is a Japanese garden located within Suizen-ji Park 水前寺公園 in Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan. The main tsukiyama is a representation of Mount Fuji. Lord Hosokawa Tadatoshi began construction of the garden in 1636 as a tea retreat. The park was named after a no-longer-extant Buddhist temple called Suizen-ji, and now hosts Izumi Shrine, where members of the Hosokawa family are enshrined, and a Nōgaku-dō, a Noh theater. Lord Hosokawa selected this site because of its spring-fed pond, which clean water was excellent for tea. The thatched Kokin-Denju-no-Ma teahouse was originally in Kyoto's Imperial Palace, but was moved here in 1912, and the garden has been declared by the national government a historic site of scenic beauty.
The garden reproduces the 53 post stations of the Tokaido, the important road, which connected Edo with Kyoto during the Edo Period, in miniature form.

Fukuoka Travel Tips: 6 Things to Know Before You Go to Fukuoka
Things YOU need to know before you travel to Fukuoka Japan. Fukuoka is nearly equidistant to Tokyo, Shanghai and Seoul, it sits on the northern tip of Kyushu, the southernmost of Japan’s four main islands. Fukuoka has a laid-back atmosphere, the friendly people, the relaxed pace of a city large enough, with about 1.4 million people, to have its own attractions but not so large as to be overwhelming. Compared with navigating Tokyo’s busy subway system or hurrying to visit one last shrine in Kyoto before closing time, taking in the sights in Fukuoka actually feels like a vacation
Today's Fukuoka is the product of the fusion of two cities in the year 1889, when the port city of Hakata and the former castle town of Fukuoka were united into one city called Fukuoka. Hakata remains the name of one of Fukuoka's central districts and of the main railway station.
5 - Getting to Fukuoka
Plane - Airport is really close to the city -- 5 minutes on the Subway from the domestic terminal. But 15 minutes by Bus from the International Terminal.
Shinkansen -- 2.5 hours from Osaka
Drive
3- Transportation in Fukuoka
Fukuoka sells unlimited day passes for tourists, making sightseeing easier and affordable. The subway is easy to use, with two main station transfer hubs (for JR trains) and a route to the Fukuoka International Airport. You can buy a single fare (600 yen) or get an unlimited day pass. The station master booth near the turnstile can answer any questions you have.
Fukuoka Tourist Day Passes grants access to each/all the public transportation: 800 yen (adults) affords a pass on Nishitetsu Bus, Showa Bus, JR Train and the Subway, while 1,300 yen gets you an extra usage of the Nishitetsu Train (* takes you out to the Dazaifu Temple Area). I chose the 800 yen pass and was very pleased. Show your passes at events and attractions and you may get a special discount.
4 - Food:
For ramen, most people say Fukuoka is the best,” he said. Two of Japan’s most famous ramen chains, Ichiran and Ippudo, hail from the city. Ramen Stadium on the 5th floor of Canal City. But the one can’t-miss dining experience in Fukuoka is yatai. Yatai are tiny street food carts that are constructed (and deconstructed) nightly. Plastic curtains typically enclose a bare-bones kitchen and minuscule counter around which no more than a dozen or so diners can cram. Many yatai serve basic fare like grilled things-on-sticks or ramen; some supplement counter seating with folding tables and chairs.
Today, there are about 150 operating yatai in Fukuoka, with most clustered along main roads, parks and the riverfront. Because of a law that bans the opening of new yatai, those numbers are dwindling
5 - Shopping:
Canal City is a major shopping complex at 2.5 million square feet, including about 250 shops, restaurants, cafes, cinemas, game center, theater, etc. It even has a canal flowing inside (which explains its name), and a large fountain that has a water show every 30 minutes.
Because the mall is so large, it may take you a whole day to discover everything. If you come to Canal City before May 18th, you can also enjoy the 3D projection mapping show with the popular anime “One Piece” theme, which is quite epic you won’t want to miss it.
By the train station lots of shopping too!!
6- Shrines:
Dazaifu Tenmangu and Kushida Shrine.
Dazaifu Tenmangu is located in Dazaifu city, and it is one of the main shrines in Japan dedicated to Tenjin- the “God” of literature and scholarship. The shrine is very large and includes several structures, so it would take you around 1 hour to visit all the places.
On the contrary, Kushida shrine is located right in the center of Hakata, and since it is a village shrine, it is much smaller than Dazaifu, and this spot will only take you 20 minutes to visit. As the oldest shrine in Fukuoka city, it attracts lots of foreign tourists so you can get the information sheet and even the omikuji (paper fortunes) in English.

Fukuoka. Sunday in the Uminonakamichi Seaside Park and Marine World Aquarium. Backpacking Japan.
Fukuoka. A Sunday stroll around the Uminonakamichi Seaside Park and Marine World Aquarium. Just a little teaser what to expect. Great place to spend a whole day. Accessible via train or ferry.
Uminonakamichi Seaside Park (海の中道海浜公園, Uminonakamichi Kaihin Kōen), is a sprawling, family oriented public park located on a narrow peninsula across the bay from central Fukuoka. The park is made up of several different areas including flower gardens, playgrounds, an amusement park with ferris wheel, sports fields, a water park, a zoo and large open spaces and lawns perfect for picnicking.
Uminonakamichi Seaside Park measures nearly four kilometers from end to end, and many visitors will find it too expansive to cover on foot. To make the park more easily explorable, there is a network of cycling trails, and bicycles can be rented at the entrance gates for 400 yen per three hours or 700 yen per day. Alternatively, a bus operates seasonally between the park's major sites during spring and autumn and costs 100 yen per ride or 300 yen for a day pass.
Marine World Uminonakamichi, an aquarium which focuses on the aquatic life found around Kyushu. The aquarium's main tank is a huge, seven meter deep pool filled with all different kinds of marine life including over 120 sharks of 20 different varieties. There are also several outdoor tanks where you can experience feeding dolphins and sea lions.
In addition, the aquarium features a huge stadium pool where dolphin and sea lion shows are held daily. The stadium opens up to Hakata Bay on one side, giving spectators a beautiful view out to central Fukuoka during the shows. Note that the aquarium requires a separate entrance fee from Uminonakamichi Seaside Park.
