In the first story, Atlantic City Mayor Looks to Tear Down Vacant Trump Casino
The former Trump Plaza & Casino in Atlantic City has been shuttered since October of 2014. The city’s Mayor refers to the dilapidated structure as “embarrassing” and a “blight.” Real Estate magnate Carl Icahn acquired the property in 2016 through bankruptcy and it has remained idle ever since. Icahn failed to receive state funding towards the demolition of the building so no permits were ever filed for. As mayor, Marty Small has now taken up the cause as one of his administration’s top initiatives for 2020. He went on to add that this type of urban blight would not be allowed elsewhere.
Next up, A Recent Las Vegas Slot Jackpot Exceeds $5 Million
One of the biggest Las Vegas progressive slot jackpots in recent memory was hit at Excalibur Hotel and Casino. An unidentified hotel guest walked away $5,482,229 richer playing a Wheel of Fortune progressive slot earlier in January. The casino released a tweet stating “That’s what we call Slot Machine Royalty. The Excalibur is part of MGM Resorts International’s group of properties. That company is also based in Las Vegas. The Wheel of Fortune progressive slot series of games are manufactured by International Game Technology (IGT). These are some of the most popular slot games in Las Vegas and around the world.
In the next story, Island Casino in Michigan Moves Forward With Expansion Plans
The Island Resort and Casino in Harris, Michigan is owned and operated by the Hannahville Indian Community. The Tribal Council recently passed a measure to approve a $30 million expansion plan. The plan includes adding 100 more hotel rooms and a pool with “water park features.” Also in the works is a high-end dining venue on the top floor of the hotel addition. The casino has chosen the Wisconsin firm Quintus 3D for architectural and engineering services. Gundlach Champion is a local Iron Mountain company. This firm will oversee construction management. They expect to break ground on the project this June.
Lastly, The FBI Prosecutes Two in Maryland Casino Baccarat Scan
A dealer and baccarat player conspired to cheat two separate Maryland casinos out of more than $1 million. The FBI’s Baltimore Field Office was contacted after one casino filed the cheating allegations. The player was identified as Chenguang Ni and the dealer in question was Ming Zhang. The cheating scheme involved Zhang revealing part of the eight-deck stack without then shuffling the cards. Ni was able to photograph the unshuffled cards with is phone. He then proceeded to win 18 of 21 baccarat bets totaling $850,000. Both the accused dealer and player were found guilty and sentenced to time in jail.
Casino Tells Jackpot Winners Machine Malfunctioned
More from Inside Edition:
While some people are lucky enough to win big at casinos, the hardest part can sometimes be collecting the winnings. Inside Edition’s investigative team has found people who thought they'd be taking home huge earnings, only to discover that wasn't the case. Katrina Bookman, 44, hit a $42.9 million jackpot at Resorts World Casino in Queens, N.Y. She posed next to the winning machine as it displayed her earnings. As a crowd started gathering around, security showed up.

SUMMARY
=======
The Upper Peninsula (UP), also known as Upper Michigan, is the northern of the two major peninsulas that make up the U.S. state of Michigan. The peninsula is bounded on the north by Lake Superior, on the east by the St. Marys River, on the southeast by Lake Michigan and Lake Huron, and on the southwest by Wisconsin. Upper Peninsula counties also include nearby islands such as Grand, Drummond, Mackinac, and Bois Blanc, and more distant Isle Royale.
The Upper Peninsula contains 29% of the land area of Michigan but just 3% of its total population. Residents are frequently called Yoopers (derived from U.P.-ers) and have a strong regional identity. Large numbers of French Canadian, Finnish, Swedish, Cornish, and Italian immigrants came to the Upper Peninsula, especially the Keweenaw Peninsula, to work in the area's mines and lumber industry. The peninsula includes the only counties in the United States where a plurality of residents claim Finnish ancestry.The peninsula's largest cities are Marquette, Sault Ste. Marie, Escanaba, Menominee, Houghton, and Iron Mountain. The heavily forested land and long, harsh winters make it poorly suited for agriculture. The economy is based primarily on logging and tourism; mining was a major industry during a golden age from 1890 to 1920.

Gambling in the United States
Gambling is legally restricted in the United States, but its availability and participation is increasing. In 2007, gambling activities generated gross revenues of $92.27 billion in the United States. Commercial casinos provided 354,000 jobs, and state and local tax revenues of $5.2 billion as of 2006. Critics of gambling claim it leads to increased political corruption, compulsive gambling and higher crime rates. Others claim that gambling is a type of regressive tax on the individuals in local economies where gambling venues are located.

I think Otis maintains these, like the other ones in the building (they put in a new indicator). These things are ROCKETS for an 11 story building. The reason I started at the top and only went to 2 is because the security desk is literally right outside the elevators on the lobby, and if we went to LL, we would have probably stopped at the lobby.

SUMMARY
=======
The United States presidential election of 1924 was the 35th quadrennial presidential election, held on Tuesday, November 4, 1924. In a three-way contest, incumbent Republican President Calvin Coolidge won election to a full term.
Coolidge had been vice president under Warren G. Harding and became president in 1923 upon Harding's death. Coolidge was given credit for a booming economy at home and no visible crises abroad, and he faced little opposition at the 1924 Republican National Convention. The Democratic Party nominated former Congressman John W. Davis of West Virginia, making Davis the first major party nominee who had held public office in a former slave state since the end of the Civil War. Davis, a compromise candidate, triumphed on the 103rd ballot of the 1924 Democratic National Convention after a deadlock between supporters of William Gibbs McAdoo and Al Smith. Dissatisfied by the conservativism of both major party candidates, the Progressive Party nominated Senator Robert La Follette of Wisconsin.
Garland S. Tucker, in a 2010 book, argues that the election marked the high tide of American conservatism, as both major candidates campaigned for limited government, reduced taxes, and less regulation. By contrast, La Follette called for the gradual nationalization of the railroads and increased taxes on the wealthy.
Coolidge won a decisive victory, taking majorities in both the popular vote and the Electoral College and winning almost every state outside of the Solid South. La Follette won 16.6% of the popular vote, a strong showing for a third party candidate, while Davis won the lowest share of the popular vote of any Democratic nominee in history.

Part of Pennsylvania (along the Delaware River), together with the present State of Delaware, had earlier been organized as the Colony of New Sweden. It was the second state to ratify the United States Constitution, on December 12, 1787. Independence Hall, where the United States Declaration of Independence and United States Constitution were drafted, is located in the state's largest city of Philadelphia. During the American Civil War, the Battle of Gettysburg was fought in the south central region of the state.
