The Istana Singapore is the official residence and office of the President and Prime Minister of Singapore. It is open to public in only a handful of days in a year.
We bring you on a tour around the Istana and show you what you can do at The Istana during the Open House.
For 2019, the Open House dates are as follow
5 June 2019 - Hari Raya Puasa
28 July 2019 - National Day
6 October - Istana 150 Commemorative Event

Changing of Guards Ceremony, The Istana, Singapore
The Changing of Guards Ceremony marks the taking over of duties by a new contingent of guards at the Istana, the residence of the President of the Republic of Singapore.
The ceremony has been held since 1969 and takes place on the first Sunday of each month, with the exception of July and August, at 5.45pm.
The new guards meet the old guards at the entrance of the Istana where the ceremony will take place.
The military parade bands are also in attendance. After the change of guards ceremony has taken place, the Silent Precision Drill Squad from the Singapore Armed Forces Military Police Command will execute an awe-inspiring precision drill performance.
The parade ends with the marching off of the old guards.

The Istana is the official residence and office of the President of Singapore. Meaning palace in Malay, it is where the President receives and entertains state guests. The Istana is also the working office of the Prime Minister of Singapore. It is in a large open compound in the otherwise urbanised setting of the Orchard Road area.
Singapore, officially the Republic of Singapore, is a sovereign city-state and island country in Southeast Asia. It lies off the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula and is 137 kilometres (85 mi) north of the equator.
The country's territory consists of the lozenge-shaped main island, commonly referred to as Singapore Island in English and Pulau Ujong in Malay, and more than 60 significantly smaller islets.
Singapore is separated from Peninsular Malaysia by the Straits of Johor to the north, and from Indonesia's Riau Islands by the Singapore Strait to the south.

ISTANA Singapore Open House - Chinese New Year 2019
We filmed this Istana Open House last Feb 6, 2019 during Chinese New Year Celebration. We didn't post it since we were still debating whether to engage in vlogging or not. This was also our first time to use our gimbal OSMO DJI2 for mobile using Huawei P20 Pro. As we were still figuring out how to use the gimbal, the panning were not smooth.

- Free for Singaporeans and Singapore Permanent Residents
Opening Hours: 8.30am to 6.00pm (Except for Istana 150 Commemorative Event)
Access: Entrance to the Istana grounds is via the main gate on Orchard Road.
A variety of performances are held on the Istana grounds during the Open House as you'll see in the video.
There is also a meet & greet with Her Excellency Mdm Halimah Yacob, President of Singapore.
You'll enjoy the green scenery and the picnic perfect Istana grounds with your family & friends.

Hi All,
Wishing all of you Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri & happy holiday! Today, me and Bie decided to head to the Hari Raya Istana Open House that's located close to the Dhoby Ghaut MRT Station. Though I was perspiring profusely when climbing up the mini hill towards the Istana, the journey was priceless.
It’s my first time visiting the Istana and I was extremely mesmerized by the beautiful nature surrounding it. Unfortunately, I am only able to share with you the videos of the beauty surrounding the Istana and not the inner view of the Istana as video and photo taking is prohibited in the Istana. But trust me, the visit was very much an eye opener!
Thus, I will encourage all of you to visit the Istana at least once in your lifetime for experience sake. So on their next open house, feel free to grab your favourite pair of comfortable sneakers and path your way to the Istana ground ya.
