Iwate Swan 3: Exploring Hanamaki
In this episode, I take some time to explore around my new stomping grounds of Hanamaki City in Iwate prefecture. Join me as I explore the streets and visit a 100 yen store and Mos Burger, as well as tell stories about my time as a foreign resident in this rural Japanese community. Plus, there's a bonus trip to the big new shopping mall in town! All in all, this series is shaping up to be a more intimate look at daily life in Japan. Hope you enjoy!

Well I'm back home from my trip in Japan but just felt that i should share some of the pictures that I and the rest of the participants took from our 3 week course in Hanamaki City of the Iwate Prefecture, Japan.
The video was put together from over 3,000 pictures but off course we had to pick and choose the best ones, some of them were also very similar but all in all we tried to capture the true essence of our course and our various experiences from making sushi, japanese craft, cultural dances and off course agriculture, the main purpose of our visit.
The video was mainly put together by Gary Ramirez, the participant from Belize with assistance from the other island participants (Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Dominica, Jamaica, Suriname).

花巻温泉（The Grand Resort HANAMAKI-ONSEN）
岩手の中心に位置し、花巻ＩＣから車で5分の花巻温泉。
広大な敷地には佳松園、ホテル千秋閣、ホテル紅葉館、ホテル花巻の4軒の宿泊施設があります。

Hanamaki Onsen located in the center of Iwate, 5 minutes by car from Hanamaki IC.
There are four accommodations in the premises: Kashoen, Hotel Senshukaku, Hotel Koyokan, Hotel Hanamaki.
Since three hotels of Hanamaki Onsen are connected in one building, guests who stay at one of the hotels are allowed to use the bath facilities of all three hotels.
There is a rose garden and a waterfall on the premises, which is recommended for a walk.

Tono, Mysterious Land 不思議の国 遠野
Tono City, Iwate Prefecture, is known as a rural site of folktales. It is surrounded by mountains and has kept its traditional Japanese way of living even now.

Hotel Ace Morioka
The Hotel Ace Morioka is ideally situated in the centre of the town.
Gosho Dam and Shijushida Dam are within easy driving distance of the Hotel Ace Morioka. Hanamaki Airport (HNA) is a 70 minute drive from the hotel. Iwate Athletic Stadium is a 10 minute car trip away.

Northern Japan 7 (last) - Ginga SL and Kamaishi
This is the seventh and last video of a trip thru northern Japan. From Ozawa onsen we went by bus to Hanamaki to catch the Ginga SL (steam locomotive train). The afternoon we spent in Kamaishi, a town at the coast which was hit hard by the tsunami in 2011 but is already rebuilt to a large degree. My deepest respect to the people who gave their town a new future. Japan is a great country.
