Kauai Chopper Mix, Jack Harter Helicopters, Kauai, Hawaii
The island of Kauai in the state of Hawaii is truly beautiful! The massive resort of Hyatt Kauai was enough to entertain for a whole week. From waterfalls to water slides to fine dining to beautiful grounds and rooms the Hyatt Kauai is beautiful! Each evening there is a torch lighting ceremony at sundown which is fun to watch.
A helicopter tour around the island showed places where you could never get too by road or water. Especially interesting is the Grand Canyon of Kauai which does look similar to the Grand Canyon on the mainland. Did I mention the waterfalls?
A Helicopter Tour of Kauai With No Doors!!!
Watch in HD!!!
While visiting Kauai for a family reunion, my family and I got to go on a tour of the island of Kauai with Jack Harter's Helicopters. We flew on the Hughes 500 which is famous for it's no doors. In this short video, you will see some of the locations that I flew over while on tour. Locations include:
Lihue Airport
Nawiliwili Harbor & Bay
Manawaiopuna Jurassic Falls
Other Beautiful Waterfalls
Olokele Canyon
Waimea Canyon Grand Canyon of the Pacific
Kalalau Valley
Na Pali Coast
Ke'e Beach
Tunnels Beach
Hanalei Bay
Mt. Waialeale The Wettest Spot on Earth
Wailua Countryside
Hanamaulu Town
Appologies about the shakiness because since there were no doors, I had to hold on to my camera for dear life. Since I filmed with my GoPro Hero 2 with a skeleton housing, the sound quality wasn't the best, so I added some music to it. The song playing is Safe And Sound by Capital Cities. It is Written & Produced by Ryan Merchant, and Sebu Simonian, and is featured in their debut album In a Tidal Wave of Mystery, under the label Lazy Hooks LLC, and Captial. The song is used only for entertainment purposes only and all credit and monetary values should go to Capital Cities.
Please feel free to like, comment, and/or leave feedback as it is greatly appreciated. Enjoy The Video & Thanks For Watching!!!!

Helicopter Tour of Kauai (Short Version)
With all of the fantastic hikes on Kaua'i I never expected a helicopter tour would have been the highlight of the trip, but it certainly was. Here are some of the highlights of the trip on October 14, 2015. The tour was through Jack Harter Helicopters on a Hughes 500 with the doors off. Flying with the doors off the Hughes not only provided better video and photography, but also made you feel much closer to the landscape. I wouldn't do it any other way.
Music (the reason those stupid ads are forced on my video, sorry):
Israel IZ Kamakawo'iole - Somewhere Over the Rainbow
Elvis Presley - Aloha Oe
The flight took off from Lihue airport and, in general, flew clockwise around the island. Here are some points:
0:58 Manawaiopuna Falls (better known as Jurassic Falls), the scene of the helicopter pad from Jurassic Park.
1:35 Flying over the ridgeline to go from a desert, to a swamp at the top of a mountain, and then jungle in lush valleys a short ways away. Amazing and dramatic changes to the landscape.
1:47 The summit of Wai'ale'ale, the rainiest spot in the world averaging 452 of rain per year. You can see the rain gauge at this point. We were very lucky to get one of the few moments with no clouds and no rain up here. Normally you can't see or fly up here. And yes, less than 7 miles away we were in a desert and now we're in the rainiest spot in the world. Notice the lack of growth up here. This is because there are very few plants and no trees that can survive that much rain and that little sun.
2:00 Notice how quickly you go from jungle to desert.
2:34 Flying down into the Kalalau Valley on the famous Na Pali Coast. This whole coast is only accessible by a single hiking trail or kayaking on the ocean during the summer when it's calm enough.
2:48 Honopu Beach, only accessible by kayak during the calm summer months. The most exclusive beach on Hawai'i?
3:05 Notice how much green grows on near vertical cliffs, in stark contract to a couple miles away where the desert grows nothing.
3:16 The Viking contemplating how best to conquer this remote wilderness.
3:32 Hanakoa Falls, a 1,400' tall beauty (one of the smaller falls on Kaua'i).
3:42 Hanakapi'ai Valley in the foreground, where I hiked to the beach and then up to the 300' high waterfall to swim in the pool below, with the rest of the Na Pali coast behind.
4:20 The crater next to Wai'ale'ale. All that rain drains down this wall. The upside on this very dry day is seeing the summit, but the downside is that the wall of tears is mostly dry. During times of rain (almost always), every little line you see here is a waterfall.
4:25 The water here is actually seeping through the porous volcanic rock and coming out the bottom.
5:06 Wailua Falls looks impressive up close when swimming under them and at 173' is about the same height as Niagara Falls. But with many 3,000'+ waterfalls around the island, Wailua ranks among the smallest.
Aloha oe Kaua'i, a hui kaua!

Jack Harter tour helicopters blast GA aircraft on ramp
The GA community at Lihue Airport have been asking the airport manager and the helicopter companies to stop overflying and hovering over our aircraft for over three years now. The airport won't do anything about it and the helicopter companies have ignored our request also. So, this is the first of many videos of helicopters overflying and hovering over general aviation aircraft and causing damage to paint and windows as well as control surfaces.
