These days, the Jawahar Kala Kendra (JKK), Jaipur, has become a laboratory of sorts for ceramic artists. A ten-feet-long mud house to be built and fired on-site, a collaborative project involving sound, a performance-based work, objects embedded with QR codes–these are just some of the contemporary works that will nudge you into engaging with ceramics differently. As the JKK in collaboration with the Contemporary Clay Foundation gets set to present the first ever Indian Ceramics Triennale—Breaking Ground—featuring 35 Indian and 12 international artist projects, 10 collaborations, 12 speakers, a symposium, film screenings and workshops, one wonders if this event signifies a major shift in the field—one which allows ceramics to be appreciated as an art form in its own right, as opposed to being viewed solely as an artisanal craft.

Albert Hall museum Jaipur l Travel differently #jaipur
The historical Albert hall was built during Queen Victoria's reign and named after her husband.
It was later converted to a museum with many collection artifacts including paintings, jewellery carpets, ivory, stone, metal sculptures, historically carved furniture and works in crystal.
There is also and Egyptian Mummy showcased here.
The visit is systematic so you can follow the path from start to finish. If you enjoy history, and museums, than this is worth a short trip.

This place is a delight, so quiet and peaceful. There is much to see and photograph in this well kept and tranquil spot. Lovely to visit somewhere that wasn't crammed with tourists and that wasn't full of litter. The entrance fee is excellent value and I'd urge anyone to spend a couple of hours here soaking up the atmosphere

New hope for the differently-abled : Jaipur Foot Foundation
Jaipur, a city famous for its rich cultural heritage. Known for its magnificent art, intricate jewellery and outstanding architecture it has today become perhaps, the most popular tourist destination in India.
The ‘Pink City’ is not only famous for its cultural heritage but also for BMVSS. (Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklaang Sahayata Samiti)
Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti is the world's largest organisation serving the physically handicapped. It was set up in Jaipur in 1975.This NGO being a social non-government organization is engaged in humanitarian work and provides special assistance particularly to people who are financially weak.
It provides all its assistance, including artificial limbs, ambulatory aids like wheelchairs, hand paddled tricycles and callipers, other aids and appliances totally free of charge for the physically challenged.
The famous Jaipur Foot is a rubber-based prosthetic leg for people with below-knee amputations. The beauty of the Jaipur Foot is its lightness and mobility, and those who wear it can walk and run.
The Jaipur Foot is a low cost, artificial lower limb manufactured in India that has transformed the lives of amputees in India and other countries. Bhagawan Mahaveer Viklaang Sahayata Samiti provides free artificial limbs to thousands of poor people who have lost a limb due to injury or disease.
Once an amputee enters the Jaipur Foot Center, Orthopedic, specialists inspect the level of amputation and prescribe the Jaipur foot accrdingly. After that a foot technician takes correct measurements of the stump and the rest of the limb and proceeds to make a hollow cast. Plaster of Paris (POP) is poured into the cast to get a model of the amputee’s limb.
A pre-heated high density polyethylene pipe or sheet is pressed around the mould which results in an artificial limb assuming the natural shape of the missing limb. The POP mould is then broken and removed from inside and a rubber or polyurethane foot is attached. The artificial foot is then attached to the stump with leather belts to hold it in place. After the foot is fitted, the person takes training from a professional physiotherapist to get used to the artificial limb and to build the required strength in the supporting muscles.
The foot is a significant part of a human body. It not only helps a human being to walk, run or swim but also maintains the balance and stability of body. The Bhagawan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti in Jaipur lends out a big helping hand to those with such a phycal handicap and helps then re-build their lives.

Nahargarh Fort stands on the edge of the Aravalli Hills, overlooking the city of Jaipur in the Indian state of Rajasthan. Along with Amer Fort and Jaigarh Fort, Nahargarh once formed a strong defense ring for the city. The fort was originally named Sudarshangarh, but it became known as Nahargarh, which means 'abode of tigers'. The popular belief is that Nahar here stands for Nahar Singh Bhomia,[1]whose spirit haunted the place and obstructed construction of the fort.[2] Nahar's spirit was pacified by building a temple in his memory within the fort, which thus became known by his name.[3]
