R.I.P. Grangegorman Squatcity
R.I.P Grangegorman Squatcity
Squatcity is now destroyed to make space for soulless apartment blocks and an off license. Dublin is not only lacking homes, but creative and free open spaces in the middle of this housing crisis. People are being made homeless or are forced to live under terrible conditions. And what for? For profit, so landlords and companys can speculate wirh our lifes. Lets not forget how amazing, beautiful, inspiring, special and rare this place was.
The music has been written in Grangegorman, Piano House and recorded in Slopey, one of the warehouses. The words have been spoken at the last Words in the Warehouse. Thanks to Roxanne for writing, creating and playing beautiful music on the piano and to Craig for the fiddle part. Thanks to Emer for your poetic and beautiful words. Thanks to Ania for your beautiful voice. Thanks for all the sunny afternoons in Squatcity. Thanks to everyone who was part of this place and memory, thanks to the ones that were there before I came and while I was there. Thank you.

The traditional secrets of Irish home cookery are at the heart of our unique range of tasty, wholesome and natural products which are completely free from artificial ingredients. In fact the word FOLLÁIN is the Irish word for Wholesome!
The finest Irish foods are lovingly made with the best seasonal Irish ingredients so, as far as is possible, We source our produce locally from growers in Wexford, North Cork, Meath, Waterford and North Dublin. We ensure that the fruit is picked and preserved at its finest so the goodness of summer harvests can be enjoyed all year round.
Our product range comprises of Extra Fruit Traditional Preserves, No Added Sugar Jams and Marmalades, and a range of No Added Salt or Sugar Relishes. The No Added Sugar Preserves contain 100% fruit with nothing but grape juice added to enhance the naturally sweet flavour- A firm favourite for those who are health conscious and want to enjoy all the goodness of preserves naturally with no added sugar.
Throughout the last twenty five years the demand for our products has multiplied many times, yet the secret of our home-made quality is maintained without compromise to modern production methods. We decided to make this stop motion animation video to show you how we started and where we are now, so please enjoy the story so far.....
There was a young lady called Mairin,
who skipped to work down the boithrín.
But the honey factory had closed
and she had no where to go
so she cried all the way home to her tigín.
Her friend Eithne was there,
with an old recipe to share,
for the most wholesome preserve in the land.
There were bills to be paid
so they made marmalade,
combining the freshest ingredients by hand.
It tasted so nice
that the orders were thrice
what they could manage even working till dawn.
So Peadar took to the road,
To deliver each load,
While the neighbors came to help make Folláin.
But today they employ
the best girls and boys
who love making all the preserves.
Juliet counts the fruit
while Laura makes things cute
and Steve carefully observes.
And although years have past,
and their pots are now vast
their natural contents remain.
With ingredients so fresh
from farms North, South, East and West,
what's in today's jars is exactly the same.
Now they have loads in their range;
no added sugar jams and marmalades,
salsas and relishes with a touch of spice
naturally made with all things nice!
