Visit Denmark - Copenhagen year 1500 fortress- Jarmers Tårn - Rundetårn, Vor Frue Kirke
This project is all about bringing Jarmers Tårns amazing history and the great Danish fortification importance to the development of Copenhagen using maps and 3D models.
The problem formulation is based on the history of Jamers Tårn and the Danish fortification lines, which deals with how the 2D and 3D models can be used to disseminate the tower's fascinating history. After analyzing various communication media then the choice fell on a virtual interactive stand, and there was carried out a survey which showed that the stand would be appropriate and desirable for the dissemination of the great story Jarmers Tårn.
In addition to Jarmers Tårn there could be establish a major cultural route with implementation of an app for smartphones which could include dissemination of the great national fortification of Copenhagen with various 3D- and 2D- virtual interfaces with geo-located stories two preserve the Danish heritage
Museum of Copenhagen showed great interest in the project!
Through the collection of data in the form of texts, images and historical maps as well as a survey of the tower and design of 2D and 3D models (year 1500, 1728, contemporary model from 2012), that could be used as a creative and historical virtual interactive field in context with the great history of Jarmers Tårn.
Jarmers Tårn is marked with yellow!

DENMARK, the amazing mechanical JENS OLSEN's WORLD CLOCK in COPENHAGEN????
SUBSCRIBE: - Let's go visit Jens Olsen's World Clock which is an advanced astronomical clock which is displayed in Copenhagen City Hall in Denmark.
The clock was designed and calculated by Jens Olsen who was a skilled locksmith, but later learned the trade of clockmaking. He also took part in the beginning of the clock's construction, but died in 1945, 10 years before the clock was completed.
The clock consists of 12 movements which together have 15,448 parts. The clock is mechanical and must be wound once a week. Displays include lunar and solar eclipses, positions of the stellar bodies, and a perpetual calendar, in addition to the time. The fastest gear completes a revolution every ten seconds and the slowest every 25,753 years.
The calculations for the clock were made up until 1928, after which they were supervised by the astronomer Professor Elis Strömgren. The drawings for the clock were made between 1934 and 1936, and the actual production of the clock took place from 1943 until 1955. The clock was started on 15 December 1955 by King Frederick IX and Jens Olsen's youngest grandchild Birgit.
Denmark is a Scandinavian country comprising the Jutland Peninsula and numerous islands. It's linked to nearby Sweden via the Öresund bridge. Copenhagen, its capital, is home to royal palaces and colorful Nyhavn harbor, plus the Tivoli amusement park and the iconic “Little Mermaid” statue. Odense is writer Hans Christian Andersen’s hometown, with a medieval core of cobbled streets and half-timbered houses.

Copenhagen's Fortifications (UK-version)
More than 200 years ago, the British attacked Copenhagen and set the town ablaze. It was a staggering defeat for the country, but also marked the beginning of discussions about how to defend the capital city in the future.
Therefore, at the end of the 1800s, a ring of fortifications based on the highly-developed military technology of the time was built around Copenhagen. Many remnants of these fortifications are still found around Copenhagen. Until now, many of these remnants have been hidden and closed to the general public. This is now changing as Copenhagen's Fortifications is being brought back to life.
Charlottenlund Fort Copenhagen
Charlottenlund Fort. Constructed during the years 1886-87, the fort functioned as a fortress for the defense of Copenhagen Harbour until 1932.
The fortifications of Copenhagen: The western boundary as seen at Rådhuspladsen (Townhall square)
Prior to excavations carried out at Rådhuspladsen in 2011/2012, relatively little was known with certainty about Copenhagen’s former western boundary. What knowledge was available mainly stemmed from cartographic sources and historical references, as well as present day street layout (particularly Vester Voldgade). The first map however was only drawn in 1590, and the first historical references for this area date to the later 1300s, when Vesterport (the western gate) is mentioned for the first time. Part of the aim of this excavation was to confirm or reject existing ideas about the city’s border to the west; where it was placed, how it was constructed and when, and how it changed through time.
The excavations at Rådhuspladsen carried out in advance of the Metro Cityring, offered an unprecedented opportunity to examine the remains of the fortifications along Copenhagen’s western boundary, and as will be discussed here, the evidence unearthed has been extensive and very illuminating regarding the ongoing changes made to this boundary through the centuries. The historical evidence, previous archaeological observations and the new evidence as documented in 2011/2012 will all be outlined, in an attempt to achieve as complete an account of the story of this boundary as possible.
