Jesmond Dene in Newcastle Upon Tyne
Jesmond Dene is a two mile stretch of green land in the centre of Newcastle where you actually feel as if you are in the country walking near the waterfalls and lush green trees. There is also a Pets Corner with birds, peacocks and goats and two children's play parks. A great place to take the family, have a picnic, walk, jog or cycle. It's very popular with dog walkers too.

Decided to take a detour on the way home today on my bike as it was a nice day. Headed off down past Jesmond Dene house down into Jesmond Dene, you can tell spring is here when the sun is out down the Dene as the trees and plants are starting the bloom, greenery is getting brighter. Through Jesmond Dene up into Heaton Park. Amazing scenery and parks in the middle of Newcastle. God's Country.

Nobody was harmed or put in any danger during the making of this video. No intrusive footage was taken. Peoples privacy is always respected. Permission was given where required.
This footage was taken over 2 days and full of rookie mistakes, The colour Grading in resolve 12 was a nightmare. First day filming was too busy with people to get the shots i wanted, i kept forgetting to lock exposure so the video flickers at times. On the 2nd day i forgot my ND filters and recorded to Sharp. So overall there was Blockyness and pixilation in a lot of the footage. As soon as i added any colour it became very noticeable and ugly. It still shows in the finished video if you look for it but ive managed to keep it to a minimum. I think i done ok with what i had to work with. Im still Learning! :) however i am determined to make a version 2 of jesmond Dene in the future.
Edited and colour graded with Resolve 12.

Jesmond Dene Short Circular, Newcastle upon Tyne ©
This easy circular route is about 2.5 miles / 4 km long, starting at Armstrong Bridge on Stephenson Road in Heaton. You enter the dene via a wrought iron gate on the right heading up past the visitor centre at Millfield House and Pets Corner, past the old Fisherman's Lodge Restaurant, along the River Ouse as far as the picnic field before returning but keeping to the right of the house and Pet's Corner to hug the river around the field with trees in it. This walk is all on good tarmac paths which are suitable for pushchairs and mobility scooters. There is a cafe at Millfield House and there is no entrance fee for the Dene or for Pet's Corner. The dene is easily accessible by public transport or by car at certain entrance points.
Jesmond Dene, a public park in the east end of Newcastle upon Tyne, England, occupies the narrow steep-sided valley of a small stream known as the Ouseburn: in North-East England, such valleys are commonly known as denes. William George Armstrong and his wife, of Jesmond Dene House, first laid out the park during the 1860s. The design is intended to reflect a rural setting, with woodland, crags, waterfalls and pools. It is now owned by Newcastle City Council. The iron-constructed Armstrong Bridge spans the Dene and hosts an arts and crafts fair most Sunday mornings, weather permitting. Some of the stands have moved to the permanent Sunday market on the Newcastle Quayside. The building of a replacement road and tunnel, the Cradlewell By-pass, was the subject of a road protest camp around 1993, due to the destruction of many 200-year-old trees Wikipedia

A short video I shot to send to some friends to show them where I grew up.
Jesmond, or Jesus Mound, is a pretty special place but even more so is the compact, wooded Ouse valley tucked away within it: both mystical and enchanting during the day and unnervingly eerie at night.
It's the setting for the spooky illustrated children story I wrote called Cloudy Head (part of a collection of shorts) and several major scenes in the Sci-Fi Cyberpunk thriller, Iron Man Project.
In Cloudy Head, a young boy finds his reality begins to merge with dream-like apparitions that stalk out of the woods behind his parents house, after recently moving there.
In Iron Man Project, one character finds herself hiding out in a fictional renovated version of Lord Armstrong's banqueting hall whilst another character is sent there to kill her.
Up until the Norman Conquest of England in the late 11th Century, this area has been known as Gese Muth or the mouth of the Ouse (river). Apparently there was an apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary, holding the infant Christ, on St Mary's Rock -- which is a large table-like boulder that sits in the river right next to the ruins of Ridley Mill -- and is right next to where I'm standing when I start filming the video below.
About a mile away there are the ruins of a Chapel on the west side of the valley, and a little further beyond that is the site of a Spring, known as St Mary's Well with the word Gratia inscribed upon stone above it.
